The live event, mcl36 event, trading, hyperchromes, NPC airdrops, jet revamp, mansion, casino, map expansion, 5 days of 5 vehicles were the biggest parts. And crit styx made the updates way better than before. But sadly the player count was really low on 2022, but still the best.
For me, it’s a bit of a 3-way tie- 2019- probably the best with how much it did (and performance) 2020- I loved this year, and have memories with it (such as flying around in a stunt plane during online classes) and 2022- I also loved this year, but started really late (around August) I had a ton of fun and the updates were spectacular. It would be #1 for me if I completely played it through

But the trains were a really cool thing to see on Roblox despite how laggy they were. 2018 was pretty average. 2020 had lots of great updates and that live event which was even still to this day amazes me on how good it was. 2021 I hardly played the game. 2022 I still don't play much but the trading update was really epic apart from people begging me to trade my torpedo to them. And while I haven't done the ceo boss, from the videos I have seen of it, it looks pretty sick. 2017 was fun because it was new, but it didn’t really add anything that would stay 2018 was much better and it added many things that was fun and that would stay 2019 had a lot of updates, but also introduced a bunch of bugs and poor gameplay that took WAY TOO LONG to patch. most of these updates weren’t even that big either. 2020 basically fixed atleast 70% of those glitches from 2019, and also added a bunch of new content with it. this was the year they started fixing bugs, but also adding new content at the same time. 2021 was… kinda mid. they added some new things but most of it was forgotten or just not given enough attention. they did fix a LOT of the bugs though. 2022 started mid, but got MUCH better after the live event. we got 3 new robberies, basically a new map, trading, our first boss fight, and many new vehicles! now in my opinion, the best year is 2022. just look at what it added compared to previous years!

Now I have a new account and only have brulee i also becuase of trading I stop grinding and I lost my skills and now I’m quitting trading for grinding and skills. When s3 dropped audi r8 and raptor i was so sad being on mobile cuz my pc was broken so i couldn’t play and i missed the whole s3 (ik they are not the best cars ever but i still like them) Season was ending so i was like f it ima grind next season. Omg the disappointment when s4 dropped and the cars where nowhere to be seen. Imagine as a 12-13 year old the emotional damage back then 🤣🤣🤣 i dont think i bothered grinding the season tbh.
As an og jb player (I started in 2018) I think that 2018-2020 were the golden years, although I can see how new players would appreciate 2022’s crazy updates. There’s just more nostalgia and enjoyment for me in 2018-20

2018-2019 was such a nice prime for jailbreak but after 2020's live event it slowly started to fall again. (yes I do know jailbreak is not dead but its on a larger decline)

From late 2017, before the trains were even released there was an Easter egg by the tunnel of the cargo train which kept the game hyped up for the next robbery. 2. During the rocket fuel update, the crashed meteor turned purple and grew larger which kept the hype up and it was epic. They even turned the map space themed but the ufo was bad but still the map was good. And before the 2B live event the volcano lava was rising up and there was construction going on to build the area 51 base later on. Tho 2019 updates were mild the area 51 base prior to the update also kept the hype. There were monster trucks moving the meteor and some construction by the desert. And in 2021 by the arch prior to the tomb update the tomb statues and platforms were slowly being revealed. Jailbreak was better in those years because of the Easter eggs teasing The next update. They don't do those anymore sadly

Basically 2017-2018 was the best overall for the game as the prison genre was still popular and the gameplay was very fun for its time. The game itself is far better today however its relevance and player counts are a lot lower as the game just isn’t as appealing as it was back then. People often say it was because hackers, toxic people etc however they were always there and using that argument to justify the failure of this game just shows that they were victim to nostalgia.
