    I have a 2012 Buddy 50 that I bought new. I ride it alot in the summer and fall. (Michigan) I replaced the battery with a Lithium Ion battery. That and the spark plugs are the only thing I've had to do. I use premium gas, Royal purple oil, & once in awhile, put a capful of Seafoam cleaner in the tank. I absolutely love it.

    Genuine Scooter manufactures their own Brand 2 cycle synthetic oil ..
    THATS THE ONLY OIL I USE I installed a prima windshield ..gained 5mph top end then I installed a
    "Soooterworks" NON catalytic exhaust..keeps engine running cooler.. less restriction gives me 5 mph faster on the top end... Sounds cool also... Between the windshield and the aftermarket exhaust I gained 10 mph top end! ( No rejet carb ) BTW all speedometers on all scooters read 5 miles an hour faster than you're actually traveling

      Technically you’re over the GWVR limit but even I am at 250. If I remember correctly it’s best if the rider isn’t over 220.
      That said, I don’t think the bike is going to spontaneously burst into flames but try not to give the bike full throttle on hills because it’s already giving a lot of effort to carry riders like us. Congrats on slimming down! Let the bike be your motivation on days when you’re not motivated? Thanks for watching and enjoy that scoot.

    I keep asking without answers. When you say after break-in you can get increased speed up to 40-45 mph. How and why can this happen?

    • @VespaPortland
      @VespaPortland  3 роки тому

      After the initial break-in you can have the scooter derestricted. Derestriction removes a ring in the transmission. That ring basically keeps the drive belt from reaching the outer edges of the variatior sheaves. Those outer edges are where the belt needs to get to reach those higher speeds. Think of a 10 speed bicycle and how you need to get to the outermost edges of the largest gears to attain the highest possible speeds. Hope that helps!

I can do 45 on a slight downgrade in 50 to 55 down a steep hill another great thing about the scooter works non-catalytic converter it allows your engine to run much cooler which is better for the longevity of the engine
