Thank you for this, my son is about to start his 29er journey. I will play this back at a slow speed and watch everything.

Awesome, I sail in 29er too but in the south of Spain

I blame the color of SFBay's water, but it's so hard to do any color grading and get good noticeable results in places other than the sky and some non-grey colors on the boat. I've mostly been color grading just to increase contrast.
Do you use ProRes settings on the GoPro to get a flatter image to grade later?

I've haven't messed with the protune settings but I might try it. I did the color grading in final cut, but I need to look into it more. It's always hard on those stormy days with the brown water.

On the upwind the crew mostly does the main if the wind is strong enough to be behind the shroud and the skipper does the jib. On tacks the skipper cleats the jib and the crew hands them the main so they can get onto the other trap. Then repeat. On the downwind the crew holds the kite sheet and the skipper holds the main. Hope this helps.

Which editing program did you use?

I used final cut pro for this video, but I used to use Imovie. It's not about the program, you can make a good video regardless.
