- With a little bit of time and attention to detail you can create a mounted flat ornament that will be the showcase of your Tree (door knob, cupboard knob, etc). I've been creating these for years, my first Written Tutorial on this type of finish was released over 10 years ago on my Tutorial Blog (Learn to Finish With The Twisted Stitcher). Always trying to learn and grow my finishing techniques to make it as perfect as human hands can make, I have updated the tutorial with my current practices to make polished pieces for my (your) tree! Please Enjoy!
Look no further than this super talented lady for finishing tutorials. There are some real slap dash vidoes out there, and Vonna puts them to shame . Thank you for so many professional tutorials, they are fantastic!
Thank you for your very kind comment!
As a new cross stitcher I’m not willing to pay to have my pieces finished, yet I want them to look like I did, you’re the answer to that dilemma! Thank you so much for giving up your secrets. 😍
Excellence-finishing at it's finest.
As always--great tutorial with lots of little tips that make it look great and be so sturdy. You are a treasure to the stitching community. Thank you!
The timing of your new video is perfect. I have four ornaments to finish and will be following your instructions. Lacing intimidates me but i just need to put my big girl panties on and do it. Aside from the great content your videos offer i would also like to thank you for the quality of your videos. Your voice comes across crisp and clear and easily understandable. Thanks for sharing.
The first video I watched of yours was an old, old video. lol. You don't say "okay" & "alright" nearly as much. Your presentation has really improved! ❤ You're a talented, perfect and understandable teacher!
I say OK and alright because I’m trying to put people watching at ease like I’m carrying on a conversation with them. Yes my presentation got better after purchasing a $500 boom arm for free videos and getting to move upstairs to a warm room rather than a unfinished basement.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Your tutorial is just what I needed for an ornament exchange ◡̈ . Sigh - you are wonderful Vonna!
Thank you so much for sharing your methods of finishing. I appreciated your videos and refer to them. You are very detailed in your instructions. Your finishes are stunning.
PERFECTION, Vonna! Thank you as always. So great to see a master at work. 😁
Vonna ,can’t thank you enough for sharing your finishes in such detail. Your time is precious, I know. This will be the ornament finish for me!
Please continue these instructional videos. Love them
Thank you!! As always your finishing is beautiful!! I learned a few more things today that I will employ when I do my finishes. I like the way you add the rick rack.It is much neater. Your directions are clear. I cringe when you use fractions 🤣🤣🤣 my own childhood anxiety!!
Wow! Fabulous tutorial Vonna! Thank you for doing this. Blessings and take care.

I always love your videos. You are so careful with your work. Keep them coming.

Thank you once again Vonna. Another helpful video.
Great tutorial--thanks so much for sharing! Thanks especially for the tip on going through the knot when lacing linen pieces. Never thought of that before and that will help me so much when I'm finishing projects.
I recently viewed a video on wool appliance and your video showed up in my feed. Thank you for this video.
I,m 74 and have done many crafts in my lifetime, cross stitching being my favorite. I,m still learning from generous talented professional such as yourself. Thanks for all the great tips. Going to go do another finish now. Thanks Vonna

Thanks for sharing. I have many ornaments that I have stitched but have not fully finished. I will definitely try this one. Happy creating. 😊
What a great tutorial. After spending hours on a cross stitch pattern, you show how to finish it off professionally with a simple procedure.
Beautiful finish. Love your tutorials!
Vonna , you are such a kind and generous person. You have such a gift as a teacher and your instruction is easy to follow. I have learned so much from you. So far I have made a drum and a stand up. Amazing!! Especially liked the rick rack tip.
I especially loved your family photos at the end - very special and full of love.
Thank you so much, I made 3 miniature hangings for my friend at Christmas and had no idea what I was doing so opted for EPP the front to back, it worked but was not the finish I wanted, so grateful for your share, beautiful work.
A lovely finish. This I will definitely be trying later this year as I stitch some ornament’s throughout the year. Thank you for sharing your knowledge x

What wonderful videos. Thank you so much. I can't wait to try finishing my own next project. So inspirational.
when I first heard of FLOSSTUBE, you were the very first person I watched and I binged all of your tutorials. watching this one and knowing that you have finished so many beautiful pieces, I find it helps to review of you have already taught me, I loved the opps in letting the glue dry and learning how to reactivate it. Thank you lady for always sharing your talent
Audrey
Thank you 😘
Nice job! Thank you for sharing. Magnificent!
I love your finishes!
Thank you for your finishing videos.
I am so glad you sew, instead of gluing.
I see a lot of hot glue guns on finishing.
I don't do well with hot glue and am so afraid I'd ruin my stitching.
I will use the lacing method for my finishing projects.
I've been finishing and giving free tutorials for 18 years. Sometimes hot glue is a necessary thing in finishing - but with the wide swath that it is used in finishing due to some popular trendy cross stitchers - I do believe it is overused and ruins most things to where in future - one would not be able to "save" the stitching to refinish if needed an update. It is also hard to work with, not very forgiving and the culprit in most finishes that are lopsided and wonky. It is best to go with products that you know you can use with ease.
A very nice video. Helped answer several questions.
Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us. Your work is exceptional. Your instructions are clear and precise. I have learned so much from you. I hope everyone appreciates what you offer.
Beautiful. Nicely Done TYFS (Pauline S)
Thank you for sharing your talent, skills and knowledge so freely! I really appreciate it.
Vonna, I know I may say this a lot, but I can't say it enough... THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and tips and tricks with us! I didn't have time to watch yesterday, as it was day 1 of baking goodies, but made sure to take time this morning before day 2 of baking started. Which means when you said, "All-purpose", I too finished it with "flour". LOL!!!!!! Thank you for keeping your little errors in there, and showing us how to fix them! And, boy-howdy that "measure twice, cut once" rule has saved my patootie a bazillion times! I have often been curious how you have made the hanging ornaments with the knots, and I truly appreciate you sharing that technique with us, as well as how to make our ornaments sturdy for years to come. You are a treasure, and I truly appreciate the time you spend to share this skill with us!
Thank you Christine :) You are always such a gracious lady!
Thank you so much for sharing your talents!
y
You do such a great job. Love to watch you.
Amazing Vonna, thank you for sharing!
I know you are a professional finisher - but..... I think I might be able to make ornaments due to your step-by-step instructions that are so clear - thank you so much for taking the time to make this video
You absolutely CAN make them! ❤
Thanks for making us look good! So proud to give these as gifts!
New to your site and a new subscriber. You're full of expertise and very kind to share it! Merry Christmas.
oh I love these tutorials. Thank you so much for doing them. I started sewing at the age of 13 I’m now 75 so that’s a lot of years most of my sewing experience was with garments and some household sewing. Finishing is a lot different so I appreciate learning your tricks and tools that you use. It was important to me when I was sewing for people that their garments looked as good on the inside as they did on the outside and I see that same philosophy in your finishing techniques so I value what you’re doing because you are a perfectionist and so am I.
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment and understanding what I'm trying to share. Thank you!
Thank you again, Vonna.
Thankyou, I feel more confident I can now finish a flat piece.
Your work is exquisite Vonna. So enjoyable watching you work your magic 💝
Thank-you for this video I did learn one thing I never thought of to corner trim the backing fabric a great idea, thank-you
Merry Christmas
Catherine

Thx for sharing your talents. ❤❤❤
Vonna I love that you take your time to show us something that we too can make.❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Vonna, for generously sharing your tips, tricks, and expertise! 🪡🪡🪡
Thank you so much for giving of your expertise. I learned so much... You are a wonderful mentor and I love watching and learning from you... Bless you!!!!
You are a great teacher. I want to thank you for all your time on these. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to and yours. God Bless!
Vonna, thank you. I have a much better appreciation for why professional finishing is so expensive, but I also feel empowered to do my own finishing now, which is important as I've recently become active in a local guild that raises funds for a local historic building and one of our major fund raising activities is providing needle crafted items for the building's gift shop! Beautifully finished ornaments R me! (We do an annual ornament based on the building's history, last year we did a design from the china of the home for example, which are finished much more simply.)
Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent, I always learn something new from your videos!
I watch your videos over and over so I can learn to do it automatically!! Thank you so much for sharing!!❤❤❤
Vonna, you are amazing! I love your detailed tutorials and I love how fussy you are. If I am going to learn this craft of finishing, I want to learn from the best. Thank you so much! I am wondering if you could show that beautiful white on white sampler you stitched for your daughter. I believe it was for her wedding. I also faintly remember you said something about how your thread will not twist because of the way you stitch. Maybe something else you could teach us? Hugs
I haven’t done a real floss tube for a long time, maybe I will someday soon. I do have plans in showing how I stitch etc.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You have a beautiful heart
Another great tutorial. Thanks!
What a fantastic tutorial.....this ornament is so beautiful. May I say how lovely your hands are Vonna! ♥️
Thank you ❤
Just love this lady! She is my finisher! Thank you, Vonna for all you do! ❤🤩
Vonna - Thank you so much for this video. I am working my way thru my first mount & you give me confidence that I can do it. I appreciate the detail that you provide.
Great video. I'm making a list of supplies so I can try one. Thank you
Once again, Vonna, THANK YOU for the time and your expertise in making another tutorial video for those of us that want to learn to finish our own pieces. You are so generous! Before I start to finish a piece, I always rewatch your tutorial on that finishing technique. They still don’t turn out quite like yours, but they are pretty close. I never gave it a thought as to whether an ornament is going to a male and that it should be finished differently.
Vonna you are a wonder!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about finishing! Cross stitch is fun but I’m looking forward to doing the finishing and your videos are so good! ❤
Thank you for sharing , Merry Christmas to you and your family
Beautiful finish. I like that it’s not over done.
Thank you Vonna for the tutorial and all the tips. The ornament was beautiful.
Another beautiful finish and tutorial! It's always interesting to see a master at work compared to my novice finishing skills.
So beautiful Vonna! You are such an inspiration to those who are able to share in your life in any way. Thank you again for so freely sharing your finishing tutorials.
Your finishes are perfection. Thank you so much for the tutorial Vonna!!
Thank you so much for another awesome tutorial! I think I can do this, if I replay this and pause while I catch up!
Thank-you for sharing your vast knowledge with us. It's given me the confidence to finish up some of my Cross Stitch pieces myself.
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques. I am so grateful and looking forward to finishing ornaments for my grandchildren. You will be a big part of those gifts and I will tell them that you kindly shared what you have learned with me. Have a beautiful Christmas with your loving family.
Definitely time consuming for all of the details, but WOW so worth every minute. Thank you for todays bow video and this one. Cannot wait to try both.
It is very time consuming to stitch too, I want only the best to showcase such precious work I’ve spent my precious time on.
Thank you so much! I always learn something new from your videos. I appreciate you taking the time to make the videos!!!
Ohhh Vonna!!! You are an amazing teacher and that turned out absolutely gorgeous!
