Theres something about rockstars open worlds that just feel more alive than any other. I can't tell if its the countless little details, the graphics or the animations. It just feels more alive than every other open world no matter how good a game it might be
2:21 I noticed this detail in Vice city too and I wondered why this detail was never in San Andreas, but after sometime Rockstar did a great job on this one for not putting it. Each game represents a different decade, different city, style and the main reason is the character race. For CJ living as a gangster before being black in 90s in Los Angeles it feels like every white person you beat back in the game the police will automatically be against you even if you are helping them, to show that they are really racist. Well done Rockstar, well done..

Honestly if you like Saints Row 2 instead of the later games, or GTA, Watch Dogs 2's open world and gameplay feels like a next gen version of Saints Row 2 if you're into that. Very underrated game.

In terms of making the world feel alive and immersive WD2 was the only one that did it for me. If you've not tried before then instead of just driving to a mission try taking a stroll to get there and you'll see what i mean. It's stuff like that that has you remember a game years after you played it.

One detail from mafia 2 : when you pull out your gun in public the npcs around you gonna react like "look he got a gun" . And thats just 1 detail mafia 2 really have lots and lots of amazing details

Remote hacking cars never gets old. And the open world isn't unnecessarily large. Definitely the most underrated open world game

It looks like the Police System on Mafia games is more complex than GTA series... For example, if you commit a crime in Mafia 2 and managed to escape the cops, they still can recognize you from your clothing or from the license plate of the vehicle, which was never existed on GTA series (I hope R* add this feature on GTA 6)

@@arindammishra2329 they didn’t market it at all like GTA, people just saw the cars and city and assumed it was ‘GTA in the future’, also water isn’t nearly as important as it is in GTA, there are pretty much no missions that involve it and there are no operable boats to use on it, so it’s really just another non-issue people use to hate on the game with.

GTA and RDR Series always had amazing attention to detail, i wonder how realistic will be GTA VI and RDR3 in the future...
