as a distractor myself IT is one of the hardest jobs it can get annoying when all you do IS run in a loop and some of your teammates come to close and get hit then blame you.😭😭😭😭🙏🙏

This distraction meta is making more players worse on average, because they think kiters are vital Though, if we're looking at the toons at base, IF you're not using the distractors just to survive/extract, then they're easier to use, since their stats and abilities are suited to do so. This is the reason why I consider Vee one of the hardest main to use- you have to be a good player if you're going to use her without a kiter, you actually have to be good at the game and know your surroundings.
I do main Vee a lot, but I do agree she has very bad survival when it comes to her speed and stealth But, I *don't* consider her to be a bad toon to use. She is useful in her own ways.
Ngl for me, Pebble is the hardest main to main- I'm saying this as a distractor Sprout main and Vee main, but I understand that some people aren't too good with slow character
I like to have a "savior" instead of a distractor when i play with my friends. They dont lead all the twisted in circles forever, but extract as normal. However, when someone else is being chased and is cornered/out of stamina, the savior comes in and pulls the twisteds off them. Then they just safely lead them away, lose agro, and go back to extracting. Its way more fun and feels like youre contributing more. Edit: It appears I'm not the only one. I say we make this role the new meta!

I do this all the time as long as I know how to escape I used to main brightney and loved doing this when there wasn’t as much people left, I still usually play toons with lower stealth so I can still do it but it’s not as easy for me compared to brightney
I swear to god, Distractors actually made players have less awareness and survival instinct. It is ridiculous. Players either camp elevator or are SO glued to the machine they extract that they dont see BRIGHTNEY coming their way. Brightney! Of all twisteds!

As an Ex-Distractor, It requires a LOT of Skill, Map Coordination and Time. Distractors make the Least amount of Rewards (Ichor) but also have to be Actively doing their Job the Whole Game.. Distractors became so Vast in Majority; To where Basic Players no longer know HOW to hide or HOW to evade Twisteds, Thus making Distractors a necessity for most Players. I am now a Proud Extraction Pebble Main, Regarding the Hate. I play how I want.
The thing about distractors is that they have A LOT of power. If they wanted to, they could let the twisteds roam if the extractors are pissing them off (or even them trolling but that's just a different breed of distractor and I personally haven't came across that type of distractor since all I've met were super understanding and kind). Another thing is that distractors are becoming a more recognized thing in Dandy's world, this means that newer players will practically rely on distractors to get far. And when the distractor dies, the extractors won't get far. And many more of the experienced players of dw are shifting to solos or playing with friends because of how toxic the players are getting in public runs.
On that first one, yeah had a run where everyone except 2 people were being rude or not being team players so I just stopped distracting the second we got mains cause I didn't wanna keep helping and the second I stopped distracting everyone died (it was just astro, shelly and like Boxten or smn so I coulda but I just didn't)
I haven't been playing for long, but I play solo purely due to the whole distractor situation..if you can't make it to floor 15 without a distractor idk what to tell you dude..
The most toxics distractor story i remember is: 2 goobs were fighting over who’s gonna distract which resulted in 1 killing the other. Somehow they attention shifted onto ME because i was trying to stop the fight. He ended up dying because he tried leading toodles to me with 2 star stealth (I was rnd with 3)
I used to be a distractor. I stopped being a distractor bc I didn't get paid, and my teammates mostly rely on me the entire game. At the end, I'm the only one left surviving.
Sigh that time when i was distracting twisted pebble and almost all my team figure out for die for a twisted flutter and cosmo xd,imagine how bad Player have to be for die wich a living distractor lol
People need to appreciate good distractors. It's easily the most important role in any given team. Distracting requires a certain level of skill and focus, while also rewarding a *lot* less ichor compared to any other role 😭
I literally have huge respect for my friend who got me into dandy's as a whole anytime he was playing he carried entire teams on his back through blackouts and main toons, and was still so kindhearted even if he ended up dying early.
As a goob distracter main myself, distracting is no joke especially in when i'm the solo distracter, twisteds such as finn and toodles have extremely different speeds which can make it hard to consistently distract all of them as i'll probably lose the slower toons.
Healers can also be kind of skill based. Think about it. You have to tell yourself "is this player really worth it to waste my tapes/heart on? Will they not just lose that heart i gave them the second they get out of the elevator?" So you have to see who is worth healing and who isn't.
Sprout is like 2nd toon i use the most, and I gotta say that if you have good teammates it is really easy, since the only one who is getting hit most of the time is the distractor. (and if someone else gets hit it's not that important to heal them quick since they are not being chased constantly by the twisteds). But they take some skill more than the extractors, probably
oh don’t get me started on my experience as Sprout 😭 I was playing in a run type that is typically the most toxic: MAIN ONLY RUNS. Someone asked me if I needed glasses when I didn’t notice that our distractor got hit. Also, They blamed me when the run ended in a blackout because I couldn’t heal Pebble (they ran too far away from me as soon as the elevator opened).
I do this but then give it away anyways bc i thought my judgmental ahh was just being mean (they did in fact lose the heart the moment they left that elevator.)
I mean, to be fair, the distractor will of course be the most skilled role in the game if every twisted is on them because all the *other* roles don't have to deal with the twisteds. If there is no distractor, then the slow toons / lone wolves are probably the most skilled. Slow characters have to focus on their surroundings, and know where to move and when. If they are extracting in a corner, and they see a Finn walk dangerously close to them, they have to find out where to run off to before its too late. You also should probably plan out your escape, since there is a strict time limit once you complete all the machines. If you are Vee or something and complete a machine on the far side of the map, you may not have enough time to make it back to the elevator. Lone wolves are the same, but considerably more difficult because there is nobody else to be chased or help you do the machines, everything has to be done by you. The more time spent being chased is less time extracting, so you gotta keep an eye out for when a twisted gets close and start hiding behind a shelf or something. When you ARE being chased, you have to figure out where to go in order to get the twisted off your tail while not running into MORE twisteds.
Also I just thought of something. I don't want to offend anyone, but let's be honest here... Doesn't having a distractor make the game boring at some point? (4:06) Being a distractor is boring because every single floor involves you doing donuts around the broken elevator until 15 seconds remain on the panic mode clock, then you book it towards the elevator. Being an extractor WITH a distractor, logically, should also be boring because all you have to do is find the machines and extract them with no threats because they are too busy chasing some pet rock or noodle-arms-McGee who loves doing donuts. If I were to describe this game's goal to someone, in simplest terms, I'd say "Your goal is to make it to the highest floor possible while avoiding monsters." Distractors remove the monster part of that equation, so it's literally just "Your goal is to make it to the highest floor possible." A part of the fun is that, while you are busy extracting, you have to keep an eye out for any twisteds coming towards you. The game even rewards you for getting chased by giving you research towards that twisted, which eventually lets you unlock some things such as toons and trinkets. Don't get me wrong though, having someone get the twisteds off you is pretty good since they can get annoying on later floors. It's a part of the reason why I love the Vee remote trinket since, at least in solo runs, there is always that ONE machine in the middle of the map which takes several minutes to finish because Ginger seems to have set up camp nearby. But having a distractor *all the time* has to get somewhat monotonous eventually, right?
Welp this is a regular public run...so distracter take the most skilled job...and when there is non or they can't distracted some of the special one...low speed enter in as the second mose skilled character in the game because you have to play stealthy...you can tell i main everything so i know what you saying right now...but mostly the biggest challenge for low speed toon it to stay away from other players... like they are the mostly reason that you take damage because they keep lead anything to you 🙏

As someone who has distracted before, I actually prefer extracting (because I can get rich 🤑). But when I do have a distractor, I try to be nice to them because they *are* doing it for me and the team.
4:33 so real, when I can tell a team isn’t gonna last long because we don’t have a distractor i have to change toons just so I can actually get to floor 10 without losing 6 players in the process - (and they still die to Rnd Rodger and Connie bc of how brain dead they are)
RIGHT?? Oh my god they always do that.. Something I don’t understand about players is that they sometimes don’t use their brains. Many people activate RnD/Rodger SO MANY times, even if they already got hurt from them. I barely distract, though on certain times if my team is really good, and that there’s a dangerous Twisted on the floor I usually distract to keep my teammates alive for just a few more floors.

My opinion(s) on distracting: (this will be long, so if you don’t want a wall of text jumpscare, this is your warning) Distractors started as simply “survivor” roles, that were designed to survive longer on average at the cost of extraction for the most part, but once people realized that you could walk around in a circle while safely keeping Twisteds behind you as most Survivors, that’s when Distractors came into existence. You know Avatar? The Distractor Role is the Fire Nation of Dandy’s World. Sure it may be “good” for long runs, but it’s so boring to play as, yet most of the team absolutely NEEDS a Distractor because they’ll die on Floor 1 or close to that otherwise! I know in this video they already explained that Distracting gives barely any rewards while your teammates mindlessly work on their Machines, which they don’t even DESERVE to have because they’ll die because they have BABY TO NO SKILL when going against ANY NON-TRAP TWISTED! I played as Shrimpo in a Solo run for the funny, and I made it to floor 13! And yet these people with way better stats, heck, even 4 star speed Toons can BARELY manage to reach MAYBE Floor 3 without the help of a Distractor. Excuse me for being a Shrimpo but here’s a message for all those people who “need Distractors”: WAKE TF UP!!!! *Train+Truck scream sfx*
I feel like some new players don't know how to stay alive without a distractor. I have my friend that started Dandy's World one or two months ago,and he has two mains (Shelly and Sprout). Whenever we play together,I always become the distractor because I already know damn well that he won't be able to survive a single floor without a distractor!I even use Vee (I'm a HARD Vee main btw!) so he can stay out of Twisteds sight,but he dies on floor 1 when we are doing DUO!I feel like people should do more solo runs. I got to floor 25 with Vee on solo on mobile,and I think that he can too. I don't If I should tell him though. He kind of sucks without a distractor.
I'm glad my friends actually survive pretty well without a distractor (I play as extractor Pebs and Goob with them), but it sucks knowing you need to distract for a friend because ya know they suck at surviving on their own😭

I had a Flutter who was probably new to distracting and there was a Rodger insulting them for it. I respect the hell out of Distractors since it can be boring or/and dangerous with a fast twisted on the floor.
I was forced to take the role of distractor pebble for a long time because its rare to find a team with a reliable distractor for me. I just got vintage pebble a couple of days ago (it took months). distracting was simple till like beyond floor 16 where I struggle alot. I was lucky to have sprout help me out and contain most of the twisted the best we could till floor 20. I miss being extractor but its hard times that forced me to become distractor. I feel your pain
EXACTLY, i used to be a distractor as flutter, then goob, then pebble, but when i stopped i couodnt get anywhere far bc distractors couldnt do em all, which is okay if ur new but of you are experienced and its a low floor you should really think about changing roles.
I've been playing as Astro for a few days and OMG the amount of times I have to DISTRACT as A SUPPORT is really sad. And as soon as our distractor dies everyone else dies and I'm the last one left like we all don't know how to be stealthy for some reason.

Well distractors are upper case because in a title all the words are capitalized except: articles, conjunctions, helping verbs and most linking verbs. Distractors are the main noun of the sentence so in a title OFC ITS GONNA BE CAPITALIZED
Distractor is a really odd role in this game. It's the hardest role, very reliant on ping, but is also the least rewarding and most boring role in the game. There's an insane skill and attentiveness difference between a floor that's all commons, and a blackout floor with Pebble and (during the Christmas season) Coal. The amount of time you spend distracting is dependent on extractors doing machines quickly, if there's not enough extractors or they're mostly running around like headless chickens, the time you spend distracting the current combo increases exponentially. I don't really know how to go about fixing this other than just not playing as a distractor, and maps being designed to actually allow players to play without a distractor (the new maps in Connie's update are AWFUL without a distractor, and even then, you might get a combo where everyone has to hide while the distractors extract). Blackout is another can of worms that needs to be addressed but whatever.
I had an awesome pebble distractor, I was ginger and it was only us 2 and I made it to floor 24 after they died on floor 19 which I’m lowk proud of myself
4:57 yesterday i was pebble and obviously distracting, i was accidentally leading twisteds to shelly bc we were in that claustrophobic warehouse map with sprout, so i had to move all over the map, also there was a goob that was hiding in the elevator and a machine was right to him, like why wouldn't you prime that machine so we could all leave safely? I was asking to a scraps why she had fancy and coin purse, so i think that's where everyone started hating on me, i decided to die so i wouldn't fight with them anymore, they got to floor 17 thanks to me
You're the exception. Same goes for me. We're both SKILLED extractors. But go in any game with no distractor, and see how many people make it to floor 3. The number will typically be very depressing... even in "good" games, the team will typically drop by half _at best._
I mean, that's pretty obvious. The only thing extractors do is literally pressing one button. And it's usually very easy since the best extractors like Shelly usually have high skill check:)
@@Animation_labwork that's what most new distractors think honestly. you need to know how stealth works (which a lot of players do not know how it works if i'm kept up with speed), and have good knowledge on the map layouts for blackouts. it also DOES require some skill as on later floors you'll likely have really bad twisted/map combos (shelly's atom sized room with all those mains and dead ends)

No. Living as a extractor in a solo is the hardest. You have to evade twisteds yourself. No distractor. In PUBLIC RUNS: Distracting is hardest, but most boring. Also extracting without any distractors. However, distracting for the most part is pretty easy especially if you are a backup
id say extracting in a run with no distractors is the hardest, simply because your dumbass teammates will lead twisteds to you 24/7 in their attempt to run away. solos are way easier to me
Sorry for not being a member I don't really think my family would approve of me paying it. But I would like to share a story on extractor toxicity. I was a disyractor coal and our main distractor (pebble) died. I distracted and on the next floor we got twisted pebble twisted vee and a Blackout floor 11. I was about to distract vee but I heard pebble and said to myself "hell nah" and I didn't distract. Then a rodger blamed my for his death because I didn't distract. His exact words were "COAL WHY DIDNT YOU DISTRACT I DIED BECAUSE OF YOU"
I agree with everything in this video, but imo. Being a skilled distractor pays off if you have a few twisted mains still not completed and you and your team (if they're a coordinated team, preferably friends who got on to dandy's world and grinded enough) manage to get to higher floors than floor 10
Question, what about Astros and sprouts(or any healers)? Support roles also keeps the distractor and other characters in your runs alive. Astro: Provides stamina to distractors mainly (if not In a public run heh…” Gets risky machines done so the distractor can have a safe distraction spot Sprout: Backup kiter incase of pebble Bobette or coal (blackout) shows up or if main distractor dies Can heal other toons (such as distractors or any other important toons) Can be the fastest to tell distractors that everyone is in the elevator Healers in general: Usually having high stealth so they can do risky machines near distractor (teagean and sprout don’t count, maybe sprout if main distractor is good or looey) Heals others in your team setup to last longer Could be backup kiters (I have distracted pebble as Cosmo so it’s definitely possible you cant just run half the map though)
I mean, i personally think support healers also take skill because you're either ginger and suffer from the 2 movement speed struggle, cosmo who has terrible extraction or sprout, who doubles as a distractor, often you'll end up at 1 health even though you've never been hit or have made yourself dandys arch nemesis
There is one thing you forgot, people who only do solo runs, their role has been turned from anything to survivalist, survivalist is a role to well. SURVIVE and solo runs take up a lot of time and skill and distractors jobs are easy if their teammates know stealth values and it’s just running in circles for the distractor unless it’s a really hard twisted
I use public lobbies because they get me to floor 4 quickly then die, it basically turns the game into a solo run but with a bit of a headstart. I realised over time that public lobbies rely HEAVILY on distractors, and those who survive without them are actually good players. I usually like doing solo rodger runs, but having a 4 floor headstart and slim chance of a good player duo leads me to public runs. (Its often solo) My honest opinion is if you wanna do a solo run but want to quickly run through early floors then just join a public lobby and turn off chat 💀
I do the same thing because I honestly get so bored the first few floors when I’m alone and later floors are so fun imo, people die early anyways but at least I get more motivation. A few times I actually found amazing players though
Everytime I play public runs, I ended up the last player standing 💀 (Sometimes I died but those were some mistakes but mostly I'm the last man standing somehow)
I think the worse thing about diatracting is that when someone runs into your little route and gets hit trying to get research, they blame YOU, not themselves, who literally ran into the twisteds. They pin all the blame on you, and when you say it's their fault, they say that you're the distractor. It's your role to distract. One or two times is ok, but some people actually take heals from cosmos because of this.
What makes me rly pissed, is that for you to Distract, it's needes to understand machenics of the game and have awareness, WHILE EXTRACT REQUIRES NOTHING, in which i play with a friend group that i repeat every run how Stealth works, but they still forget and try to evade where i'm passing by (Looey) or pass by where i'm at (Pebble), with both cases leading them to taking free damage (leading to death sometimes) or wasting time.

I remember distracting till floor 14 and then dying bc mine mine brother moved the wifi source so far that it took 9 secs to load that that I died *half of the team died on that floor* *other half died on next floor*
I find distracting very fun, having to constantly be changing up my distraction tactics depending on what twisteds there are, like goob/scraps and mains along with slow/fast twisteds at the same time. I absolutely hate how everyone relies on a distractor to carry them though. I havent distracted in a while because of it! As someone whose been playing before shelly was added, I can solo to floor 15-20 depending on who im playing as, and it saddens me that people cant make it past floor 2 without someone carrying them to higher floors on a silver platter.
Distracting is in fact a hard thing to do, and it gets annoying when ur in a public with brightney (or any lower stealth toon), a main appears and they snatch them- and then get hit and blame u. happened to me
dudde its even harder when you have to do bobette and pebs as looey and then someone on console pops the prime as soon as ur friend was about to heal you, making sure you'd live cause you'd die and as you have no stam (this is totally not based off of experience)
as a Distractor,yeah. The game is really simple so you dont really need to have tricks on surviving(everyone knows how to prime) distractors actually need to learn clean movement to distract harder twisteds combos
I literally saw a Shrimpo main with Brick and Coal trinkets on and bro survived up to 12 floors, he is THE PRO Shrimpo😭(I haven't seen anyone last longer with that build on him yet but ya know)

@bobetterr okay but a survivalist is still an extractor 90% of the time, the only difference with them is that their extraction speed isn't higher than 3, besides it's not like just because they're a survivalist doesn't mean that they don't do machines like distractors typically don't!

Once I had the best Looey EVER. Bro was distracting on 3 hearts for like, 10 floors, and got us to floor 22 (I ended up dying due to some bad twisted luck, and not being safe enough.) My....greatest feat is being the sole survivor of Floor 24 (TM) as Cosmo in a Blush Crunch run...and a floor 16 solo as Vee-

I play Ginger just so I can help a distractor cause I tried it and saw the pain. This way I can assist them on my hard to play on phone while also extracting so we can get to the next floor.
Now while yes distracting is often boring because circles with the rarer twisteds like goob, scraps, sprout, vee, and pebble these twisteds help with making the game less boring sprout being a personal favorite
I had runs where as pebble, I just said I CAN'T distract Twisted Pebble on the christmas map (floor 10 I belive) and whoever other 2 toons there were. I remember there was no Astro. you know what me and the other 2 players did that remained in the run? COMMUNICATED where PEBBLE is moving so HARD.....NONE of us got hit. One of the best runs I had, my fingers were spamming where he was going by stalking Twisted Pebble and the other 2 players extracted(I also extracted a machine, but my goal was to check on pebble). They also typed while I was on machine. Best and funniest experiences I have had. I love communicating.

I feel like a lot of people are just uninformed or ignorant about distractors in general. I hate it when people say "distracting was made up!" as if it means anything. Communities invent things that become commonplace all the time, and distracting is a very widely known and followed playstyle. Not to metion, pebble's ability and mastery were changed to make him better suited for distraction, and qwel herself said that she has played brightney as a distractor in the blushcrush discord server. Just because the community came up with it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist 😭

This distraction meta is making more players worse on average, because they think kiters are vital
Though, if we're looking at the toons at base, IF you're not using the distractors just to survive/extract, then they're easier to use, since their stats and abilities are suited to do so.
This is the reason why I consider Vee one of the hardest main to use- you have to be a good player if you're going to use her without a kiter, you actually have to be good at the game and know your surroundings.
This is why I kinda like solo runs. Makes me a bit more skilled anyway and I can get rich dude

I do main Vee a lot, but I do agree she has very bad survival when it comes to her speed and stealth

I like to have a "savior" instead of a distractor when i play with my friends. They dont lead all the twisted in circles forever, but extract as normal. However, when someone else is being chased and is cornered/out of stamina, the savior comes in and pulls the twisteds off them. Then they just safely lead them away, lose agro, and go back to extracting. Its way more fun and feels like youre contributing more.

As an Ex-Distractor, It requires a LOT of Skill, Map Coordination and Time. Distractors make the Least amount of Rewards (Ichor) but also have to be Actively doing their Job the Whole Game.. Distractors became so Vast in Majority; To where Basic Players no longer know HOW to hide or HOW to evade Twisteds, Thus making Distractors a necessity for most Players.

The thing about distractors is that they have A LOT of power. If they wanted to, they could let the twisteds roam if the extractors are pissing them off (or even them trolling but that's just a different breed of distractor and I personally haven't came across that type of distractor since all I've met were super understanding and kind).
Another thing is that distractors are becoming a more recognized thing in Dandy's world, this means that newer players will practically rely on distractors to get far.
And when the distractor dies, the extractors won't get far. And many more of the experienced players of dw are shifting to solos or playing with friends because of how toxic the players are getting in public runs.
On that first one, yeah had a run where everyone except 2 people were being rude or not being team players so I just stopped distracting the second we got mains cause I didn't wanna keep helping and the second I stopped distracting everyone died (it was just astro, shelly and like Boxten or smn so I coulda but I just didn't)

2 goobs were fighting over who’s gonna distract which resulted in 1 killing the other.
Somehow they attention shifted onto ME because i was trying to stop the fight.

People need to appreciate good distractors. It's easily the most important role in any given team. Distracting requires a certain level of skill and focus, while also rewarding a *lot* less ichor compared to any other role 😭

I literally have huge respect for my friend who got me into dandy's as a whole anytime he was playing he carried entire teams on his back through blackouts and main toons, and was still so kindhearted even if he ended up dying early.

As a goob distracter main myself, distracting is no joke especially in when i'm the solo distracter, twisteds such as finn and toodles have extremely different speeds which can make it hard to consistently distract all of them as i'll probably lose the slower toons.
Healers can also be kind of skill based. Think about it. You have to tell yourself "is this player really worth it to waste my tapes/heart on? Will they not just lose that heart i gave them the second they get out of the elevator?" So you have to see who is worth healing and who isn't.
Sprout is like 2nd toon i use the most, and I gotta say that if you have good teammates it is really easy, since the only one who is getting hit most of the time is the distractor. (and if someone else gets hit it's not that important to heal them quick since they are not being chased constantly by the twisteds). But they take some skill more than the extractors, probably

I was playing in a run type that is typically the most toxic: MAIN ONLY RUNS. Someone asked me if I needed glasses when I didn’t notice that our distractor got hit. Also, They blamed me when the run ended in a blackout because I couldn’t heal Pebble (they ran too far away from me as soon as the elevator opened).
Also I absolutely detest when your teammates call on you to heal them when they will likely die the next floor…

I mean, to be fair, the distractor will of course be the most skilled role in the game if every twisted is on them because all the *other* roles don't have to deal with the twisteds. If there is no distractor, then the slow toons / lone wolves are probably the most skilled.
Slow characters have to focus on their surroundings, and know where to move and when. If they are extracting in a corner, and they see a Finn walk dangerously close to them, they have to find out where to run off to before its too late. You also should probably plan out your escape, since there is a strict time limit once you complete all the machines. If you are Vee or something and complete a machine on the far side of the map, you may not have enough time to make it back to the elevator.
Lone wolves are the same, but considerably more difficult because there is nobody else to be chased or help you do the machines, everything has to be done by you. The more time spent being chased is less time extracting, so you gotta keep an eye out for when a twisted gets close and start hiding behind a shelf or something. When you ARE being chased, you have to figure out where to go in order to get the twisted off your tail while not running into MORE twisteds.
Also I just thought of something. I don't want to offend anyone, but let's be honest here... Doesn't having a distractor make the game boring at some point? (4:06) Being a distractor is boring because every single floor involves you doing donuts around the broken elevator until 15 seconds remain on the panic mode clock, then you book it towards the elevator. Being an extractor WITH a distractor, logically, should also be boring because all you have to do is find the machines and extract them with no threats because they are too busy chasing some pet rock or noodle-arms-McGee who loves doing donuts.
If I were to describe this game's goal to someone, in simplest terms, I'd say "Your goal is to make it to the highest floor possible while avoiding monsters." Distractors remove the monster part of that equation, so it's literally just "Your goal is to make it to the highest floor possible." A part of the fun is that, while you are busy extracting, you have to keep an eye out for any twisteds coming towards you. The game even rewards you for getting chased by giving you research towards that twisted, which eventually lets you unlock some things such as toons and trinkets.
Don't get me wrong though, having someone get the twisteds off you is pretty good since they can get annoying on later floors. It's a part of the reason why I love the Vee remote trinket since, at least in solo runs, there is always that ONE machine in the middle of the map which takes several minutes to finish because Ginger seems to have set up camp nearby. But having a distractor *all the time* has to get somewhat monotonous eventually, right?
Welp this is a regular public run...so distracter take the most skilled job...and when there is non or they can't distracted some of the special one...low speed enter in as the second mose skilled character in the game because you have to play stealthy...you can tell i main everything so i know what you saying right now...but mostly the biggest challenge for low speed toon it to stay away from other players... like they are the mostly reason that you take damage because they keep lead anything to you 🙏

As someone who has distracted before, I actually prefer extracting (because I can get rich 🤑). But when I do have a distractor, I try to be nice to them because they *are* doing it for me and the team.
4:33 so real, when I can tell a team isn’t gonna last long because we don’t have a distractor i have to change toons just so I can actually get to floor 10 without losing 6 players in the process - (and they still die to Rnd Rodger and Connie bc of how brain dead they are)

Something I don’t understand about players is that they sometimes don’t use their brains. Many people activate RnD/Rodger SO MANY times, even if they already got hurt from them.
I barely distract, though on certain times if my team is really good, and that there’s a dangerous Twisted on the floor I usually distract to keep my teammates alive for just a few more floors.

My opinion(s) on distracting: (this will be long, so if you don’t want a wall of text jumpscare, this is your warning)
Distractors started as simply “survivor” roles, that were designed to survive longer on average at the cost of extraction for the most part, but once people realized that you could walk around in a circle while safely keeping Twisteds behind you as most Survivors, that’s when Distractors came into existence. You know Avatar? The Distractor Role is the Fire Nation of Dandy’s World. Sure it may be “good” for long runs, but it’s so boring to play as, yet most of the team absolutely NEEDS a Distractor because they’ll die on Floor 1 or close to that otherwise! I know in this video they already explained that Distracting gives barely any rewards while your teammates mindlessly work on their Machines, which they don’t even DESERVE to have because they’ll die because they have BABY TO NO SKILL when going against ANY NON-TRAP TWISTED! I played as Shrimpo in a Solo run for the funny, and I made it to floor 13! And yet these people with way better stats, heck, even 4 star speed Toons can BARELY manage to reach MAYBE Floor 3 without the help of a Distractor. Excuse me for being a Shrimpo but here’s a message for all those people who “need Distractors”: WAKE TF UP!!!! *Train+Truck scream sfx*

I have my friend that started Dandy's World one or two months ago,and he has two mains (Shelly and Sprout).
Whenever we play together,I always become the distractor because I already know damn well that he won't be able to survive a single floor without a distractor!I even use Vee (I'm a HARD Vee main btw!) so he can stay out of Twisteds sight,but he dies on floor 1 when we are doing DUO!I feel like people should do more solo runs.
I got to floor 25 with Vee on solo on mobile,and I think that he can too.
I don't If I should tell him though. He kind of sucks without a distractor.
I'm glad my friends actually survive pretty well without a distractor (I play as extractor Pebs and Goob with them), but it sucks knowing you need to distract for a friend because ya know they suck at surviving on their own😭

I had a Flutter who was probably new to distracting and there was a Rodger insulting them for it.

I was forced to take the role of distractor pebble for a long time because its rare to find a team with a reliable distractor for me. I just got vintage pebble a couple of days ago (it took months). distracting was simple till like beyond floor 16 where I struggle alot. I was lucky to have sprout help me out and contain most of the twisted the best we could till floor 20. I miss being extractor but its hard times that forced me to become distractor. I feel your pain

Well distractors are upper case because in a title all the words are capitalized except: articles, conjunctions, helping verbs and most linking verbs. Distractors are the main noun of the sentence so in a title OFC ITS GONNA BE CAPITALIZED
Distractor is a really odd role in this game. It's the hardest role, very reliant on ping, but is also the least rewarding and most boring role in the game. There's an insane skill and attentiveness difference between a floor that's all commons, and a blackout floor with Pebble and (during the Christmas season) Coal. The amount of time you spend distracting is dependent on extractors doing machines quickly, if there's not enough extractors or they're mostly running around like headless chickens, the time you spend distracting the current combo increases exponentially.
I don't really know how to go about fixing this other than just not playing as a distractor, and maps being designed to actually allow players to play without a distractor (the new maps in Connie's update are AWFUL without a distractor, and even then, you might get a combo where everyone has to hide while the distractors extract). Blackout is another can of worms that needs to be addressed but whatever.
And then the "distractor" EXTRACTS in a full team of EXTRACTORS.
I had an awesome pebble distractor, I was ginger and it was only us 2 and I made it to floor 24 after they died on floor 19 which I’m lowk proud of myself
4:57 yesterday i was pebble and obviously distracting, i was accidentally leading twisteds to shelly bc we were in that claustrophobic warehouse map with sprout, so i had to move all over the map, also there was a goob that was hiding in the elevator and a machine was right to him, like why wouldn't you prime that machine so we could all leave safely?
I was asking to a scraps why she had fancy and coin purse, so i think that's where everyone started hating on me, i decided to die so i wouldn't fight with them anymore, they got to floor 17 thanks to me
as an extractor i can say that i made it to floor 28 with vee solo. its not just distractors that are skilled, its extractors too.
Every role is skilled so long as you play it right
You're the exception. Same goes for me. We're both SKILLED extractors. But go in any game with no distractor, and see how many people make it to floor 3. The number will typically be very depressing... even in "good" games, the team will typically drop by half _at best._

@@Animation_labwork that's what most new distractors think honestly. you need to know how stealth works (which a lot of players do not know how it works if i'm kept up with speed), and have good knowledge on the map layouts for blackouts. it also DOES require some skill as on later floors you'll likely have really bad twisted/map combos (shelly's atom sized room with all those mains and dead ends)

No. Living as a extractor in a solo is the hardest. You have to evade twisteds yourself. No distractor.
In PUBLIC RUNS: Distracting is hardest, but most boring.
Also extracting without any distractors. However, distracting for the most part is pretty easy especially if you are a backup

Sorry for not being a member I don't really think my family would approve of me paying it. But I would like to share a story on extractor toxicity. I was a disyractor coal and our main distractor (pebble) died. I distracted and on the next floor we got twisted pebble twisted vee and a Blackout floor 11. I was about to distract vee but I heard pebble and said to myself "hell nah" and I didn't distract. Then a rodger blamed my for his death because I didn't distract. His exact words were "COAL WHY DIDNT YOU DISTRACT I DIED BECAUSE OF YOU"

I agree with everything in this video, but imo. Being a skilled distractor pays off if you have a few twisted mains still not completed and you and your team (if they're a coordinated team, preferably friends who got on to dandy's world and grinded enough) manage to get to higher floors than floor 10

Usually having high stealth so they can do risky machines near distractor (teagean and sprout don’t count, maybe sprout if main distractor is good or looey)
Heals others in your team setup to last longer
Could be backup kiters (I have distracted pebble as Cosmo so it’s definitely possible you cant just run half the map though)
I joined a pro run and literally the first message was "who distract"
I mean, i personally think support healers also take skill because you're either ginger and suffer from the 2 movement speed struggle, cosmo who has terrible extraction or sprout, who doubles as a distractor, often you'll end up at 1 health even though you've never been hit or have made yourself dandys arch nemesis

There is one thing you forgot, people who only do solo runs, their role has been turned from anything to survivalist, survivalist is a role to well. SURVIVE and solo runs take up a lot of time and skill and distractors jobs are easy if their teammates know stealth values and it’s just running in circles for the distractor unless it’s a really hard twisted

I use public lobbies because they get me to floor 4 quickly then die, it basically turns the game into a solo run but with a bit of a headstart.
I realised over time that public lobbies rely HEAVILY on distractors, and those who survive without them are actually good players. I usually like doing solo rodger runs, but having a 4 floor headstart and slim chance of a good player duo leads me to public runs. (Its often solo)
My honest opinion is if you wanna do a solo run but want to quickly run through early floors then just join a public lobby and turn off chat 💀
I do the same thing because I honestly get so bored the first few floors when I’m alone and later floors are so fun imo, people die early anyways but at least I get more motivation. A few times I actually found amazing players though

(Sometimes I died but those were some mistakes but mostly I'm the last man standing somehow)
I think the worse thing about diatracting is that when someone runs into your little route and gets hit trying to get research, they blame YOU, not themselves, who literally ran into the twisteds. They pin all the blame on you, and when you say it's their fault, they say that you're the distractor. It's your role to distract. One or two times is ok, but some people actually take heals from cosmos because of this.
What makes me rly pissed, is that for you to Distract, it's needes to understand machenics of the game and have awareness, WHILE EXTRACT REQUIRES NOTHING, in which i play with a friend group that i repeat every run how Stealth works, but they still forget and try to evade where i'm passing by (Looey) or pass by where i'm at (Pebble), with both cases leading them to taking free damage (leading to death sometimes) or wasting time.

As a pebble maim I can say the reason I don’t get bored as a distractor is bc I talk alot
I yesterday reached and died in floor 20 as gigi solo no distractors needed(and i died on the floor because of bobette and pebble spawned same time)

I remember distracting till floor 14 and then dying bc mine mine brother moved the wifi source so far that it took 9 secs to load that that I died

I find distracting very fun, having to constantly be changing up my distraction tactics depending on what twisteds there are, like goob/scraps and mains along with slow/fast twisteds at the same time.
I absolutely hate how everyone relies on a distractor to carry them though. I havent distracted in a while because of it! As someone whose been playing before shelly was added, I can solo to floor 15-20 depending on who im playing as, and it saddens me that people cant make it past floor 2 without someone carrying them to higher floors on a silver platter.

Distracting is in fact a hard thing to do, and it gets annoying when ur in a public with brightney (or any lower stealth toon), a main appears and they snatch them- and then get hit and blame u. happened to me
When i was distracting a rudie kept coming near me, and when i was distracting Vee ppl kept going near me
dudde its even harder when you have to do bobette and pebs as looey and then someone on console pops the prime as soon as ur friend was about to heal you, making sure you'd live cause you'd die and as you have no stam (this is totally not based off of experience)
as a Distractor,yeah. The game is really simple so you dont really need to have tricks on surviving(everyone knows how to prime)

Anyways, I agree, since the introduction of distractors most new (or sometimes experienced) players now rely on them too much and without them they can't get far. Sadly enough, seems like most of them are unwilling to change and keep demanding a distarctor and complaining when they get hurt

@bobetterr okay but a survivalist is still an extractor 90% of the time, the only difference with them is that their extraction speed isn't higher than 3, besides it's not like just because they're a survivalist doesn't mean that they don't do machines like distractors typically don't!

Once I had the best Looey EVER. Bro was distracting on 3 hearts for like, 10 floors, and got us to floor 22 (I ended up dying due to some bad twisted luck, and not being safe enough.) My....greatest feat is being the sole survivor of Floor 24 (TM) as Cosmo in a Blush Crunch run...and a floor 16 solo as Vee-

I play Ginger just so I can help a distractor cause I tried it and saw the pain. This way I can assist them on my hard to play on phone while also extracting so we can get to the next floor.

Now while yes distracting is often boring because circles with the rarer twisteds like goob, scraps, sprout, vee, and pebble these twisteds help with making the game less boring sprout being a personal favorite

I had runs where as pebble, I just said I CAN'T distract Twisted Pebble on the christmas map (floor 10 I belive) and whoever other 2 toons there were. I remember there was no Astro. you know what me and the other 2 players did that remained in the run? COMMUNICATED where PEBBLE is moving so HARD.....NONE of us got hit. One of the best runs I had, my fingers were spamming where he was going by stalking Twisted Pebble and the other 2 players extracted(I also extracted a machine, but my goal was to check on pebble). They also typed while I was on machine. Best and funniest experiences I have had. I love communicating.

I feel like a lot of people are just uninformed or ignorant about distractors in general. I hate it when people say "distracting was made up!" as if it means anything. Communities invent things that become commonplace all the time, and distracting is a very widely known and followed playstyle. Not to metion, pebble's ability and mastery were changed to make him better suited for distraction, and qwel herself said that she has played brightney as a distractor in the blushcrush discord server. Just because the community came up with it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist 😭
