So much fun! I'm so glad you had a great time and what a wonderful experience for your family. We took our three kids last year for three weeks (6 stops) and we all had rucksack backpacks (all between 30-40 liters) plus my girls and I had purses. Totally no regrets! But we were bouncing around quite a bit vs only going one or two places where bringing a larger suitcase or rolling suitcase would have been fine. I feel like I have so many tips to share! I'm sure you felt the same way when you came back. 1. Play everything you want to bring out on your bed and then take away half. Everybody had enough to make outfits for 5 days. Plus pj's, socks and lots of underwear. For myself I brought: one pair of jeans that I wore on the plane, one very thin cashmere sweater, faux leather jacket, large thin cotton scarf, three shirts, three dresses, pajamas, socks/underwear/bras. Plus my hair straightener, makeup, and toiletries. I'm a photographer so I had my camera, lens, and little odds and ends in my purse. But that's me - most folks are fine with their phones for pictures. Shoes: one pair of Superga trainers (wore on the plane) and a lightweight pair of Birdies to swap when I wantes something dressier. Plus some electronics, chargers, etc. My hair straightener was dual voltage so I just needed a plug adapter not a converter. 2. Bring a first aid kit. We had an ear thermometer, allergy medicine, bandaids, and some basic getwell medicine like anti-diarrhea, ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc. in a small pouch. I agree that you can totally find a lot of this stuff at a local pharmacy, which we did visit at one point, but when you need something for your headache RIGHT NOW, it was nice to have something immediately. 3. Copies of all documents. 4. I used packing cubes just to keep things organized. It was good for me to jusy keep things sorted easier. 5. Eye mask and silk pillowcase. I have sensitive skin and this saved my face and hair. Plus a face mask just helped with sleep. 6. YES to air tags. While we carried on, we wanted to make sure if we had to gate check anything (or accidentally left things on a train) we could find it. 7. Valuables. I personally wear a money belt when traveling. Thank Rick Steves for this one! You wear it under your clothing. It's slim so you don't notice it. I kept a couple passports in mine and my husband had the rest. Also, all our cash (the day's spending money for cash was in my day bag), back up credit card and bank/debit card. I actually had a bra wallet for the daily use credit card. Pulled out and tucked away discreetly AND was moisture wicking so it didn't get sweaty. Not for everyone but that's what we did. If everything else got stolen or lost, we could continue with our trip with our passports and money. 8. Travel with kids: we had our kids help us plan what to do. They want UA-cam videos and we read books and if they wanted to do it, I booked it. I wanted them to be as invested as possible. Keep us posted if you're ever making a planning checklist for traveling with kids! Would love to contribute.
I’m flying out of the country soon, and I would say to anyone traveling, make sure you have everything (new clothes you might need, sunglasses, etc.) 1-2 weeks in advanced so you aren’t like “Oh no I don’t have sneakers!” The day before your trip. It takes time to shop and order things online, so just be prepared!!
My family went to Switzerland and France for a month to visit some family friends. We managed to each take a carry on and then only have 1 checked bag. These tips are perfect! The shoe thing is so true! I brought crocs for the plane, sneakers, and one pair of fancy shoes and tbh I never used the fancy shoes! I’m glad to see your family had fun, that looks like an amazing trip!
That's awesome! Hope you had fun. I went to Rome and Greece On A Week Disney Cruise earlier this summer. Loved seeing the Colosseum, and all the tours as well. So glad you went, such a beautiful place to visit.
another tip I find helpful, is bringing disposable, small trash bags. generally in Europe there are less public trash cans, so I would suggest bringing them.
You are so right! I thought it was really interesting how they just put trash on the street in bags (not really binned like here in US) when it was time to collect. Xo
@@WhatsUpMOMSthat totally depends on what country you are in, as there are many differences between European countries and their policies. I the Netherlands and Sweden for example, trash is pretty much always binned.
Hi! I love your videos! I'm a child but these videos are really good! I've never been this early to a premiere before! I hope you have a great time in Europe!
Love your tips! We are in Rome right now! I brought some playing cards and candy from the US to give to various people from Italy who have served us, drivers, waiters, etc. It’s been so fun for my grandkids to give these out. Our service people are surprised and the response has been so positive. We packed souvenirs to share and will go home with souvenirs to keep.
You always leave room for shopping! I’m on holiday right now and have somehow ended up with two bookmarks, a new light shade, and a beautiful second hand book that was printed in the 1800s! Not completely sure how the last two happened but everything was definitely a success (apart from you posting this after we had already got there of course)
You guys always make the videos when I need it. I’m literally going on a plane in this video is really really helpful. I also enjoy your other packing videos. They really help me when I’m packing.
When I travel with my children, I save up clothes I can bin on the trip. I’m not talking things you could still send to charity shops but things like pjs that are looking a little worn/tired and old underwear n socks. That way as they wear it I can dispose of it and it saves washing and creates space in case. I have a drawer at home for their ‘clothes that can’t go to charity/goodwill’.
So glad to hear that!! Yes, we did too!!!! Pres got a little sick toward end of Italy (hence the need for Celsius thermometer) but she was a trooper and overall, amazing time!
I am only a teenager but i love your videos!!! They relieve do much stress from school and everyday life. I just wanted to thank you for all that your videos do for me ❤.
We went to Europe this summer and we made the huge mistake of not bringing any warm layers. We thought its gonna be hot. It was hot most of the time but the weather could get unexpectedly chilly/rainy at times. So we bought some jackets in Rome (our Airbnb host provided the umbrellas) And the shoe thing is so real. There's absolutely no need for bringing heels as we walked most of the time. I wore loafers and slip on sneakers as a compromise between looking cute and being able to walk. Good luck to everyone traveling to Europe!
Also a tip if you travel to the warm countries like spain and italy, they held siesta's. So if you go to the city in the afrernoon dont be surprised if shops etc are closed.
No way!! I think we just beat the heat wave, and it was STILL hot, so I can only imagine! Loved Italy though- want to see Amalfi coast one day! Hope you had a great time 🤗
This was so cool because this summer we went to many of those places so I guess this summer was the European summer. Also, I was waiting for you to make a video for learning a new language to other countries even thought some people can speak multiple languages (basically my whole family)
I actually saw you guys walking around london and i was gonna ask for a picture but i got too scared and i didn't want to interrupt your family holiday 😀😭
Haha, it's hard to explain, but they are really thin like paper and not as absorbent as the ones here? At least in every gelato shop we went to... it may have been an ice cream thing! Hopefully I get to go back one day and further test :) 🤗
My family went to Los Angeles for the week in spring break. Here are some tips 1. Always bring separate bags for underwear and socks. DO NOT STASH YOUR SOCKS IN YOUR BAG 2.Suitcase organizers are very useful. 3. Always pack medicine the week before. 4. Plan for the weather! My kids thought it was gonna be 30 degrees there but I showed them and they laughed so hard

Haha, an "actual mom", I love it Ericka! Thank you! I love this bag... I got it at the Kate Spade Outlet (while Presley was at soccer camp, haha). I just looked it up and I believe it's the "Chelsea Nylon Bag"... mine is gold trimmed. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching! 🤗 xo Elle
Barcelona is also great. And Brussels. And Prague. Vienna is worthy a visit. Berlin is nearly a must do. And all the Greek islands. Just come back for a second tour. What I do is emptying the suitcase, and then placing the dirty clothes in one suitcase, and repacking the rest in different suitcases, so there is a suitcase with dirty clothes (becoming 2 and 3 at the end) andd the rest is with clean clothes

For Souvenirs for the kids give them a budget and that’s all they can spend for clothes plushies etc and you pay the tax or not your decision ❤❤❤
