@@zacrl1230 I doubt that. The guy who hid in Switzerland and many draft dodgers were not convicted and I don't think they admitted guilty before the pardon.
Indeed, who steals braille books? Just break in, and hide them in random places to mess with Dave!
It's even funnier if it's true when they realize That they stole law books if they could only read them. I'm sure it would tell them that, that's illegal. Law books are probably quite expensive.
Especially written in brail.

Brain Blaze is basically just the internet in compressed form. Lots of information presented as original content, with a reaction video built into it and then the corresponding memes for those reactions.
Everyone else is still doing separate content, but watching this is a far more efficient way to waste my time 🤣

Look at you, going around looking at things, lording colour vision over dogs, keenly watching the basement with hawk like intensity to swoop on escapees. There are a ton of people who need pardons, at the very least. Like people who have been in jail for a decade over something that is now legal (anything weed related), and if there was no violence and it wasn't huge amounts, the record should be expunged to help them be able to get employment. The "war on drugs" has cost Americans way too much. Monetarily and just in the huge, traumatizing, fracturing damage it has done to families and friends and people's lives.
This video was about the controversial ones, though, not non-controversial ones.
Go thank biden. He had a huge part in that and the civil rights. And the KKK.
But think about the children! What if they grow up and do the weed! Then they'd... they might do other bad things! Be...cause... of the weed! What then, smarty pants?
I also love how in conjunction with the war on drugs, especially small possession charges, the response is typically "all these kids who grow up without dads" as if the policies they are aware of aren't the exact reason for that. They always seem to try to make it a "personal responsibility" issue when us white people get away with doing the exact same things.
And those policies go against their own goals of creating more "American families" by locking up individuals so that they can't start a family, and then they whine and cry about how citizens aren't having enough babies.
What an insanely absurd power. The guilty can legally go free, while the wrongly incarcerated are supposed to not accept a pardon and remain in prison.
As opposed to those in power do it and still get away with it? They all do it and it's insane
Pardon powers exist to provide innocent people a means to get out of jail. The majority of pardons are to provide such relief.
Michael Flints pardon is dubious because it is a clear misuse of the pardon power. (I haven't finished the video so Flints pardon is the only one I can judge).
I came to chat because I was surprised that Simons take was basically "the president has the pardon power so why are people complaining about it".

Let's give him a couple of hours, he is probably busy writing another banging script whilst being blind, what a dude
I agree he's awesome, but being blind has nothing to do with that.
I know he would be awesome anyways, I am just impressed :)
Writing can be hard enough when you see what you are doing, and I respect him for taking on a little bit of an extra challenge when writing for us.

Accepting a pardon involves formally and legally accepting guilt. Pardons are forgiveness for a crime
Correct..... I came to say the same thing and knew someone probably already said it. The recipient of a pardon must fully admit they are guilty before they get the pardon. Which kinda begs the question: what if the president offers a pardon, the person fully and officially admits to guilt, then the president says "just kidding". Is that possible? Hahaha.
This is not true.
There was a supreme court decision from a hundred years ago that suggested that acceptance of a pardon implies guilt. This was clarified in an appeal by a US soldier who accepted a pardon in 2021
See Lorance v. Commandant (2021)
@@MarcusHawksley bro the court case you cited says the same as the comment you are replying to. It’s a forgiveness of a crime that the person being pardoned of is guilty of.
@@electricurinal a presidential pardon does not require an admission of guilt on the person being pardoned. What happens is the person who accepts the pardon is accepting the fact that there is an implied guilt to the need for a pardon.
@@rjgaynor8 😒 you should probably read the case. It clearly states the opposite of the original comment.
"We conclude that Lorance's acceptance of the pardon did not have the legal effect of a confession of guilt and did not constitute a waiver of his habeas rights"
This has probably been said, but pardons not only don't mean you're innocent, you actually can't be pardonned unless you've been found guilty. It's basically saying "yes, you're guilty, but you no longer need to serve your sentence".
And as the courts have ruled, accepting a pardon means that you implicitly admit that you were guilty
DAVE I NEED THE CHAT GPT VERSION
Dave's not here, man 😵💫
I was waiting for the Simon read of the chatGPT version at the end.

I LITERALLY PAUSED THE WHOLE VIDEO TO COME FIND IT AND IT'S NOT HERE 😂😭
Crime pays, especially if you're in the government.
Being pardoned does not mean you're innocent. A pardon removes the punishment, but it does not overturn the conviction or establish innocence...
Joe Arpaio appealed to the Supreme Court to have his conviction overturned after Trump pardoned him. The court basically said "If you accepted the pardon, then you admitted that you were guilty."
In the US in order to receive a pardon you are still "guilty" just your crime is excused
Then what the difference between something on your record being pardoned and something on your record being expunged
you actually have to admit guilt in order to accept a pardon AFAIK
@@l.b8896 Expunged means the conviction has basically been erased. Pardoned, it's still there
@@l.b8896 When you're pardoned, it means you can't be punished for something you may or may not have done and may or may not have been convicted of doing. I've always thought its intended use is for when someone does something that's illegal according to the letter of the law and the judge has to sentence the person, but most people would agree that an exception should be made due to the specific circumstances.
Expungement means something will be removed from your record, whether you were found innocent or you pled guilty but made it through deferred adjudication, etc.
That's a myth, actually.
4:26😂 it’s so funny. It makes me think of that meme where that dude has a DJ and he’s playing and you hear don’t come in a woman’s voice and then Donald Trump eventually says I’m gonna come😂

Executive orders enter the chat
There's one lunatic that thinks the president should be...
Also, that's not how executive orders work
If you accept a Presidential pardon, you're admitting guilt to the crime committed. You're saying you committed said crime, and accept responsibility for it. It stays that way on your record forever; "guilty of felony X". The pardon was put in place so the Commander in Chief could step in, and ensure that persons acting outside the law to protect the well-being of the Constitution, and continuation of the government of the United States couldn't be prosecuted. That's obviously flown entirely the fuck out of the window. It was a good idea when British troops were still holding defectors accountable. Nowadays it's absolutely useless.
The hell are you on about? You know that pardon is only used for a political position.
Wow… that’s a weird interpretation. Say you’re a male charged for sexual harassment, if you’re in an area with a zealous prosecutor you’re going to spend $100k defending yourself regardless of actual guilt or not. A pardon would mean you don’t have to spend the money. Nixon was never convicted or even charged. It’s on record as a pardon, you can still vote so defiantly not on your record as a felony.
Nixon must be pretty pissed that he wasn't president 50 years later
I am still upset Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio. That county is still corrupt from his influence.
Yep.
I still think that pardon is why he lost the Arizona vote in 2020.
@@jennaxoxox4821I mean Arizona isn't as red as people think it is, they also didn't vote for him because he was an absolute lunatic
Pretty shitty human being right there. I try to wish everyone well, but, fuck that piece of shit, specifically.

I’m happy you & Dave are working together
My favorite bald person feeding my brain once again
9:00 Simon, FFS, just because the president CAN do something doesn't mean it's automatically cool, and not corrupt and worthy of punishment.

If you ever sell a bag of weed to a blind guy, don't short the bag. He'll know.
Or don't short it because you want repeat customers 😅
As for the books being stolen, it reminded me of when people were robbing Fed Ex trucks a few years ago. I had ordered a few pet tarantulas online and couldn't help but amuse myself with the thought of a robber opening a stolen package and finding spiders or the roaches I ordered as feeders. Fortunately, the truck delivering my order was not robbed.
Thieves steal braille law books
The thief: Hey, it turns out stealing is a crime!
Simon, any law enforcement can legally lie to you. If you lie to them, its a crime.
Omg so true. They are actually trained to lie to you.
Murdoch then sold 20th Century Fox to Disney and it has become a Mickey Mouse Operation.
Don't Mess with the Mouse
All except the "news" portion. Not sure if he wanted to keep it or if Disney didn't want it
@@UnicornsPoopRainbows NO Murdoch wanted to keep it.. He was perfectly fine with spining off 20th Fox. But Fox Broadcasting and Fox Sports he was perfectly happy to keep even though Fox News' audience is about the size of a pea.
16 stone is = 224 pounds. That would be a huge American akita, much less the smaller Japanese breed. No one in their right mind would break into my house with my 120-pound akita on guard 😂.
Yeah, that's boerboll weight class. 120 is a healthy size akita, never seen (a non-obese) one over 140. My huskamute is 120. I caught those numbers too.
5:24 No, a pardon means just being relieved of the senctence one has been given. Exoneration is where a conviction is reversed and the convicted is cleared of blame, be it from new evidence showing their innocence, a fault in the conviction, etc.
Therefore, accepting a pardon has widely been argued to equal to admission of guilt.
A pardon is an admission of guilt
You're not wrong
Well yeah, aren't the people who're pardoned already convicted, sentenced, & either serving the time when they're pardoned or they've been released & the pardon vacates their criminal record? At least that's how I thought pardons work
Correct. The Supreme Court said you are admitting guilt by accepting a pardon.
@@droomzyVery few of the major pardons are actually for people who have been convicted. That's why accepting a pardon has often been considered an admission of guilt. The pardoned party often must officially accept the pardon for it to be in effect, so the idea of it being an admission of guilt has a pretty solid foundation. This generally doesn't apply to anyone who was already convicted, as they often explicitly deny that they were ever guilty, or have no guilt over their actions.
@@slevelnevesrecently the courts ruled that no it's not. Search "Ex-soldier's acceptance of Trump pardon didn't constitute confession of guilt, court rules". Ever since that 1915 case no court has ever held that accepting a pardon is confessing guilt. And their statement was simply an aside, not a concrete ruling. Accepting a pardon only makes the person _look guilty_ by implication that he needs a pardon. That's all. Legally it's not really one
No one is surprised that one criminal would pardon another, what a joke of a "system"!!!
He pardoned multiple.. and Bannon is proud of it
Burglar to other burglar: I got a blu-ray player. What did you get?

But remember being locked in the basement with Danny & Sam all they can do is write what Simon demands. 😂😂
@@MarvinV180That's good to know, but I would also like him to get paid for it and that channel doesn't look like it's gonna be making money anytime soon.

Norway extradites to the US, but not completely. But they refuse to extradite in cases because doing so would mean they would suffer "inhumane treatment in US prisons."
Which, fair. Valid. 100%.
For a brief moment, I forgot Simon doesn't write these things, and I was very confused.
I was wondering if maybe he was also learning braille at the same time and felt up to the challenge of learning law in braille. 😂
To be fair, when I was studying Korean, I bought a few Korean books on subjects I like in an attempt to learn them both at the same time.
Although I'm not sure if there would be much of a point unless he planned on a career in writing braille legal books for blind people. 😂
If those braille books were tests it could’ve been a useful steal if you know who to sell to and how to read it
So... As long as you're rich and / or connected to rich people you can do anything.
When you accept a pardon you admit you were guilty. You cannot call yourself innocent.
Damn it Dave, you were so close! You could have been Daredevil! You were so close! What's the point of being blind if you're not fighting crime?!
Everything politicians do is dubious.
That pardon of Nixon was why my Dad switched from the republican party to the Democratic party.
Nixon and his buddy Kissinger make me want to move, cuz that also being a part of my country's past is just.... ugh and ew. Like, we already had slavery and everything attatched. We should be able to hold our elected officials to a very high bar, considering what goes on when we don't. But we get terrible administration after terrible administration, and everyone does war crimes.

@@darkermatter125.35 Including getting Nobel prizes for virtually nothing. It's not your country it's the world.
@@albertchurchill4845 yeah for stopping the fucking brutality he made sure got a million times worse
@@godlygamer911 i think every country has darkness somewhere. But not all darkness is equal, and a lot of "darkness" is surrounded by fucking fighting for freedom. Like I do not condemn slave riots and the uprising in the warsaw ghetto, or what people do in a revolution against a brutal, occupying superpower that is stripping them of all of their resources and freedoms, and causing so much suffering and death. You cannot pass judgment on those people. Not to mention that a lot of things change over time as far as what is acceptable. Even if you look in religion, which people equate with the absolute boundaries on morality, have fucked up shit in it. I think there are some things that I, maybe surprisingly, don't give a fuck about (like cannibalism a lot of the time), but some things were always fucked, like brutally r*ping kids, even though that was common in a lot of places. But you can look at the base beliefs of cultures, how open they are to social change, and how much they do to fuck with the lives of those who are suffering, in their own society and out. The US has done so much fucked up shit from the founding of the country to current day to cause suffering and death, both inside the US and out. A lot of indigenous cultures are/were beautiful and incredible, but ended up victims of genocide all over the world. So the past was so impressive until the culture was torn apart. Some current societies are incredible, but they still had a fucked past, and they depend on cruel practices outside of their country to keep their lovely country the way it is. So many places are better than the US, but no place is perfect (as an entire country).

The fact that Trump pardoned a cop killer and mass murderers is what I'd consider to be the absolute worst.
Norman Bethune has a monument with his statue in Gravenhurst, Ontario. He's an accessory to murder. Not in Communist China. It's all a matter of opinion. Mass murderes? Who and how many?
To accept a pardon means you admit your guilty. It doesn't mean your innocent.
It's the charges that get pardoned, basically it's like having all charges dropped against the person. It has nothing to do with admitting guilt or asserting innocence, but everything to do with the charges themselves.

My Deaft records were burned by the Catonsville Nine on May 17, 1968, just after I enlisted
The irony of a pardon lies in its acceptance by the one being pardoned. If one accepts a pardon, one is admitting to the crime one is being pardoned for. The only exception is a finding of fact by a court that exonerates the one being pardoned. (found innocent) That is rare because in most of those cases, an appellate court would overturn the conviction before it would ever be considered for a pardon.
