👏 👏 👏 There is something powerful in building something like this that gives you a feeling that you can do anything. I can’t wait to have the time to do this. (And space. Apartment won’t work lol)
John, the designer, thought it to tight for a cuddy. Thus dangerous in foul weather. But a tarp makes a good cover or sleep on shore. It is only 11'11"
I am unsure of his thinking while designing either boat. It would be a good question for John. I know the scamp is designed to be a safe and seaworthy small boat. I've had several conversations with Howard Rice. And that's where I may have hear about the scamp being too small for a cabin. Though I'm up for closing it in and doing an Atlantic crossing.
It's good to confirm with John Welsford, but it's an easy way to get a shorter boat with a longer waterline. Better performance and a smaller package. So that's my thinking
@@ranman5501 One of the goals was to make a boat just under 12 feet as this is a cut off point for registration in some States and is also a restriction for some lakes. Thus 11'11" can go in any water in the USA and do so cheaply. It also simplifies construction.

Yeah ... all is well. I'm not sure I've been doing anything that interesting lately. And all I want to video has been done already. I might do an over night with the scamp though
After trying to understand proposm I think I can say thanks? I Just like messing around with video trying to learn and share. Every once and awhile I get some interest.
Nice build, Scamps are cool. Great name too!

Looks great. I love the color you painted it.
Thank you
What an excellent craft
Very well done sir, very well done indeed.
Happy sailing ⛵
Thank you.
What a beauty !
Thanks
Nice. Thanks for sharing
You are welcome
Mike, you are all seeing, and all knowing, and everywhere in the small boating community. :)

beatiful bote
It's so cute, I'd never fit in it, but it's too cute to not like.
I didn’t realise it could be laser cut. Roughly how much I appreciate USD and 2022 prices. 🇦🇺👍🍺
Why this boat does not have a cuddy cabin is a mystery , it would make a great weekend sailer ? Great video, nice music choice .

John Welsford designed a similar boat called Tread Lightly, which does have a cabin.

@@survivingentropy i would double the glass and epoxy...and dont forget the epirb, radio, and survival suit
@@OkieBobby Scamp is a Welsford design as well.
I've just cut a complete set of SCAMP bits from sheet ply. Six days hard work!
Try a sharp blade then😉
What type of epoxy paint did you use over the fiberglass?
Coated everything with west system epoxy, primed, painted with an industrial enamel paint by rustoliem
I’ve always wondered, why the squared off bow?

@@liamstone3437 thanks for the reply. I just imagined the front dipping into waves and slow things down.

lindo bote from Brasil
Great boat! Do you have an estimate of how many hours you took to make it?
I did not keep track of the hours. With the kit you save a ton of time by not having to cut 70 pieces of plywood. BTW the kit is extremely accurate
Haven’t seen any new videos recently. I hope all is well.
