I just got reminded of Mrs.Vadivambal (my ammama).
Once i had asked her , how marriage happened in villages in 1950s when she was a kid
She said that it would take place at the Bride's home or Panchayat mandapam or a religious place(no cost)
The main aim for marriage was to celebrate with friends and family the union of two hearts,and to provide a hearty simple meals to the entire village.(cost= few paise or for the raw material)
No contractor No catering, the food was prepared by the family with the help from neighbours and they will do it for you out of love .( Again no cost just anbu).
No invitations any one can eat at the wedding you will not be questioned 😉
It showed how much the bond was strong between the people at that time
We need not follow the same but we must not forget the purpose of marriage and the art of sharing what we could afford .🎉

Don't try to change others opinion. Because you just can't tell others how to feel, not to have opinion. It was awkward and I had the guts to say a 50 + year old ladies wearing hip belt seemed awkward to me.
