This guy is so likable. He works on cars like I do. A lot of Improvising.
This is the (most probably) BEST and COMPREHENSIVE motor mount installation video for the T&C. Seriously, Thank YOU, sir! and the bonus recipe is a perfect finish.
You are welcome!
I loved the video. It was thorough and easy to understand. Thank you so much. I too am retired and I am likely going to do this repair on my 2009 Volkswagen Routan. Which is basically a rebadged chrysler Town and Country. On another note: That one bolt you replaced may not be the same bolt as the 69 dollar one. The material could be weaker on the one you bought from Lowes. Could be a weaker bolt and not take the same loads. (FYI) But overall thank you very much. Great video.
Wish I had your sence of humor and patients I got to change mind you made it a lot easier thanks.
These are nice vans. My T&C just reached 100k miles and has a slight clunk. By the looks of the mounts you show, they are lightly made and not heavy duty. Thanks so much for this video and the creative drink tutorial! New Sub. :)
nice video, really enjoyed it!! Also your drink ... much better with Rhum!
I love your video….Thank you for sharing your video……❤❤❤❤❤
Better to jack on the lip of the pan than the middle... and never on any transmission pan.
I will keep that in mind since now I need to this again. Must be a weakness on these vans.
Thank you for this video. I will change my transmission mount in the morning, but now I know where the other mounts are located and can examine them. I like your glass but being certified by Guinnes brewery to pour their beer, I had hoped you were going to enjoy a Guinnes.
Thank you, I like Guinnes but I don't drink beer very often now simply because I might have a gluten problem messing with me. I wish you luck with the project.
Man , your video is awesome and so hilarious , I could not stop laughing : ) thanks
Excellent video
Great job thanks for the video
I been a mechanic for 20yrs
Take that crossmember off for the front bottom one takes no times less than making that block of wood, iv lost faith wondering bout the rear lower one
You remained of my dad he was a police Detective love to work on his cars
LOL, I was armed security for years.
Awesome thanks
My big bolt up front is 🤬 to I have to fix it!!!
You going to get it 😂😂
How did you diagnose bad motor mounts? I have a persistent rattle clunking noise in front while driving on rough surfaces that I havent yet located. New strut, lower control arm, sway bar bushings, and sway bar links but still hear the noise.
Put it in gear while standing on the brakes and Rev the motor while watching, motor will lift out of place. Try foreword and reverse while someone, or your camera is watching the motor.
What size of blot is it
Mr. Noneya (lol), nice video. I gotta '06 3.8 V6 Dodge Grand Caravan.
not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother lately =)
@Memphis Graham yea, I've been using Instaflixxer for since november myself :D
Thread lock for shaky engine bolts.
Yep probably some loc-tight or something like that would be good idea.
@@AlFixit I also have a 2010 and my wife says she feels a clunk when shifting so soon will climb under to see if it is the mounts or the tranny. Here’s hoping for mounts.
@@threemonkeys4704 Put it in gear and foot on the brake while revving the engine, while looking to see if engine jumps around. Probably engine mount.
I have a 2010 with the 4.0. Getting ready to order the 4 mounts. What engine are you working on here?
Also... could the front mount have been easier to replace WITHOUT that new $67 bolt installed (so the cradle would be lower)?
Yes, I loosened that bolt to help wiggle things in. I have 3.8 engine and replaced all mounts twice now. Good luck with yours.
So there’s only 4 mounts?
Did you have to lift the engine for the transmission mount and the back side engine mount?
No I did not for the transmission mount. I did have to move the engine for all other mounts and you always may or may not have to lift, jiggle, or wiggle things for any mount and every car could be different.
1:29 on your video what is that bolt 🔩 called at the dealer or parts store? Thanks
I think that is called an engine mount isolator.
Hi Al, great informative video. Just wished to ask you, have you still got this car. I have a similar. 2012 Voyager, Stow and Go diesel version. I am from the UK, and some parts are hard to come by especially the electronic parts ( or extremely expensive). E.G, Blind spot mirror x 2 modules located in the back wheel arch wings I had been told, which are in need of replacing . The wing mirror amber triangle lights work but stay O, all the time if the blind spot function is turned on from the menu. Have you got this function on your car. and have you filmed other video repairs whilst you worked on your mini van. look forward to hearing from you.
I still have the 2010 and I use it as a truck a lot. Example, I load it full then tow a fully loaded utility trailer behind. The ruff treatment and the power it has with the 6 speed German transmission has caused the engine mounts to fail again. I recently replaced them the second time. Not sure about those parts you refer to, but mine is still going.
I recently replaced heater hoses but was in a bit of a rush so didn't film it.
Do you happen to have that bolt spec?
No, but I remember Lowes did have it and I think it may have been a fine thread or metric. Sorry not much help.
Hayne’s manual should have it.

Too much waffling..
