There are already around 2 million migrants who have entered legally and are awaiting permanent residency and there are migrants who came illegally and are now claiming asylum - and many more on visas, just overstaying their welcome - total around 2 million. They won't tell you those figures will they.

I found it a little ironic that the chair gave you direction whenever you bought up housing yet Senator What’s? answers kept going back to housing. It’s obvious the 2 things are linked therefore the questions and the answers were both relevant to the topic of immigration. The chair should have just let it play out. It's absurd to believe Watt's contention that someone sat down to work out halving the immigration intake. Twelve years ago it was 130,000 net. Why not halve that? Also, Watt hasn't acknowledged the fact that immigrants need hospital and aged care, schooling, day care, as well as housing

Halving the net immigration figure still puts it well above what the previous government had. Shut the borders to migrants until the thousands of homeless Aussies are housed and fed and clothed. Labor want immigrants because they want to stack the ballots with them.

Australians don't know this yet but their Government has basically lost control of the immigration scheme since the High Court ruling. Part of Australia's social contract used to be that Australians would accept an overbearing and authoritarian Government if that Government was actually competent and able to Govern effectively. The latter party has not upheld their end of the bargain.
Immigration was still too high under the Liberals. Remember Labor has only been in power for 2 years.

Well you are not wrong but primarily the Roman empire was just too big. Communications was very slow weeks and months do send message one way, domestic trained military forces were stretched too thin around the empire and because everything was too far the central government effectively lost control. Then corruption, rebellions, slowness etc. start making things even worse and less manageable. And final blow was allowing non romans into army which ultimately led again to central government lost control over army. Rome was state in state living in their own reality funny fact is they don't even realized the empire already collapsed for years so much they were isolated in their own corner. Also internal struggle played massive role when in fight for power ceasars were dying like flies often assassinated by their own guards so there was nobody to effectively rule and if wanted to live best thing was to do nothing. It was very long and intertwined complex process but ultimately it boil down to they expanded too fast and too much without fixing internal problems same as US is doing right now, operating and spending money all around the world while home is crumbling.

What's the use of the parliament house, where they posture, mock, belittle, ignore and refuse to answer questions. Get rid of that and have the senate questions be the main thing, it seems to be taken far more seriously and answers are more direct.
It may even create a more honest and upfront system if they're pulled up promptly and ensure they actually come to the table with their job being on the line.
Its amazing how very little they care about the situation many Australian's are facing.
Either start serving the people or move aside and allow someone with competance, integrity & a heart earn your lucrative pay packet.
