I agree about 80%. The free market isn’t a perfect system it has trade offs and one thing it doesn’t really solve for well is the opportunity cost. That is why high capital intensive projects (take the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam) wouldn’t have pure capitalism at play. Telling others to build another Golden Gate Bridge because the owner raised to toll too high makes absolutely no sense.

yup agree - i think government has a place for developing infrastructure like that.
the problem is there is nobody in government heavily scrutinizing and auditing the layers of bureaucracy that drive up cost, like you would have in a private company. there is not as strong of a commitment to being good stewards of taxpayer funds, like there is a natural driving force in capitalism to achieve profitability
that care and need to achieve profitability in a capitalist system eliminates a lot of waste, but is very absent in a lot of government projects.
and the times where you don't see that care to eliminate waste in private companies, generally is a byproduct of free money/ultra low interest rate loans or subsidies. IE Boeing

What I like about capitalism is that if there is a market ($) to support it, you can create anything you want.
