Well, the styles of those folks were overdone by this time. New Jack started last 80's....so all these folks are copycat novelties, nothing that will stand the test of real time.
I remembered when this song first came out in the summer of 1992, I was only 12 years old going to the 7th grade and me and uncle we used to watched this back to back on the box music television .....those were the good old days
Still listening in 2021 and on and on. Biv 10 aka Mr. Michael Bivins. What a cast of impeccable artist. Don't forget he had Subway out of Chicago and 702 from Las Vegas. I like when she sang that part . . . I'm Lady V and you know what's up with me and the East Coast Family.
#EastCoastFamily #BoyzIIMen #ABC #BBD #NewJackSwing #90sMusic.. still loving this in the new year 2024 with the awesome, jammin' old school music power of classic MTV and New Jack Swing.. anyone else?
Thank God for UA-cam, I remember watching this vid on Video Soul back in summer of 1992. R&B music was lit then, but unfortunately this would be the declining year of New Jack Swing. How I really miss 90s music.
@@TheRealMarkpain You guys were everything to us back then. I bet corporations had something to do with the projects demise. Well that and the normal b.s. that people who come together as a family go through. Out of all these artists that never went on to release any music with Biv10 the one I'm most upset about not getting to hear is Hayden! That big ole White boy could sing, it would've been interesting to see what he could've become in hip hop. He could sing but how far could he have gone being a chubby white man in R&B? The world will never know, lol!
Damn. How did I miss this song 20+ years ago? My new jam & I must have counted at least 14 groups! Fruit Punch - Biv’s Cousin, Another Bad Creation, Tom Boyy, Cale, Hayden, Whytgize, Khalil, 1010, Mark Finesse, MC Brains, Big Ant, Yvette, Lady V and Boyz II Men.
I thought that group was called 10-10. Wytegise (Sudden Impact in the Motownphilly video) was a New Kids On The Block clone but that's just two examples. That's not "most". But I though it was a little much when he was a member of his own two groups and now, trying to run a management company and label. I figured it wasn't going to end well for most of the artists.
One of the few New Jack Swing songs that had an impact on Australian charts in the 90’s! R&B wasn’t all too popular during the early 90’s down under but this song cracked our charts for a few weeks
Terri Taylor: Wow 😯Lol I remember when this video premiered and I didn’t know that was her! Oh well...maybe because none of these acts ever came to fruition (except the ones that were already out at the time of course).
Until I did some research, recently, I NEVER KNEW that "Lady V", is the ONE AND ONLY VAL YOUNG (from "If You Should Ever Be Lonely" back in the days fame). It's good to know! Been a fan for many, many years.
I think most of them never made it because Mike had too much on his plate. He was an artist while running a record label. If he had a co owner or vice president that really pushed their work then maybe.
Glad you do. At one point he was he was managing Boyz II Men career but stepped down probably due to the reasons stated above. Diddy, Jay Z, Cash Money, Jermaine Durpi, Neptunes, Master P, Kanye, Timbaland, Death Row, Young Money were CEOS as well as artists that were successful so it can be done. Cash Money and Death Row had worst reputations for not paying and beating people up and that was their downfall. Diddy too.
So true. But it's interesting that Yvette Nichole Brown was sign to his label, and now she plays Shirley Bivins (Michael Bivns mom in the movie). She's at 2:19 mark. She's just called Yvette. She just has one name like "Janet", "Madonna" and "Cher".

There was too much going on with Mike and most of us felt that he was overwhelmed by Boyz II Men. I stayed on as a Producer. Finesse started his own production company and that was it. @@TheRealMarkpain Maybe Mike should have delegated some of the acts to other inhouse producers if they were any?. Just the way Berry Gordy did at Motown, Gamble and Huff for Philadelphia International, Joseph Cayre for Salsoul Records.
@@TheRealMarkpain Very informative thanks brotha. Alot of questions i would ask! Lol Keeping it real alot of the acts were basically rip off of other popular groups and rappers. Not all but "Walt Will" was a Kriss Kross clone. The "Tomm Boys" had a look but looked liked SWV with TLC personality. Some acts like Hyde was very interesting as he was a heavy set white dude doing rnb New Jack swing/soul.

I would like for Mike Biv aka Sporty Rich to do a where are they now episode from this video shoot....that being said this was a dope joint!
Look at Yvette. She's an actress now she played Michael Bivins mother on the New Edition story
I loved this song! I would wake up every Saturday morning to watch Video Soul by request 😂
This is something that every record label should do...make a big collaborative demo song that brings in the talents of every newcomer that signed on. Honestly, I'd like to hear what Hayden and Rico had to offer. (There is no discography for the majority of people within this song)
Rico was the super producer everybody always talked about.
That used to be the thing back on those days. Bobby Brown did a song like this for his B. Brown Posse clique called "Drop It On The One".
@@BronchoKyle Rico was under Dallas Austin I think.
Damn I forgot about this song. I haven't heard this song or seen this video since I was 10yrs old lol. Use to love this. Mike Bivins is amazing and was doing it big b.v ack then. People don't give him enough credit. He has a ear for great artist. He was one rulers of the New Jack Swing era in the early 90s.
Mike Biv was Diddy before Diddy I think he had more artist then he could handle at this time he was definitely ahead of his time.
Mike was throwing everything against the wall in 91.....
There was no shiggity shame in stiggity stealing Das Efx's stiggity style.
mrwoods22 LOL so true.
mrwoods22 LMAOOOOOO too funny 😂😂😂😂
mrwoods22 lol well it was the style back then too. No diggity no doubt. niggaz will always try to do something lol
mrwoods22 that was dope 😂 that das efx style really was the move
Mr. Woods yeah, I said that back then lol this was when das etc, onyx, and the first schnikens were the top hip hop acts
Yvette Nicole Brown, really should have tried a music career she can sing so good!
Faaaaaaaaaacts!!!
The talent in this video is wild. I feel cheated by them not all being able blow up and bless us with more :(
This was the song back in the day. I remember I bought this cassette single and played this song til the tape got stuck in the deck.
Same, lol.
Hayden killed it!......
i haven't seen this video since i was 17! wow...Yvette from Community, among other shows/movies she's been in, it's been so long since i've seen this, i had no idea she could sing, much less forgot she even existed in this video. she's great on Community. wonder where everyone is now....i mean other than Yvette and Boyz II Men.
Wow.........................................I miss those times, what happened to such collaborations today?
