    Hi! Thanks for your video, really helpful! Currently I am studying rootless voicings and wonder, does this chance the target notes? Since the 1 is not in the left hand anymore, should I avoid landing on this note? Or is the general idea of 1,3,5,7 as target notes still applicable? TIA for your reply!

    hello sir, is it true that a great improviser can use less chord tones and more passing notes in a solo

    • @WalkThatBass

      Arguably, yes. Chord tones sound consonant while passing tones generally sound a little bit more dissonant. So it's arguably more challenging to produce a good sounding solo while using more passing notes. Having said that, I think the idea of tension and resolution is more important. A great improviser can build and resolve tension competently using a mix of passing notes and chord tones.

    It would be easy to remember the 3rd to flat 9 move as a diminished run.

      +BAwesomeDesign Yep exactly. Whatever helps you remember.

    Is this mistake, that 6th step is pointed as a guide note instead of 5th in the cheat sheet?

    • @WalkThatBass
      @WalkThatBass  8 років тому +4

      +fundorinlive Yeah, guide notes are the 3rd and the 7th of the chord. I've added an annotation to correct this. Again sorry. I'll have to doubly proof read the cheatsheets as I put them up. But if you're viewing this on a computer you should see an annotation correcting the mistake. But again, good eye. Thanks for heads up.
