also i doubt someone will read this... i really enjoy your work! your doing a really good job explaining features even for semi amateurs like me (who isn´t even native english speaker :D) so i just wanted to let you know that i just bougt a les paul standart some weeks ago, highly influenced by your reviews of gibson guitars, and i will never regret it. thanks for your awesome work!
Since this video was shot, Gibson have announced that you CAN now get the 2012 Studio in white! So if you go for one of these (white only) be careful what stands you use, as most types of rubber will mark the guitar after a few weeks.
Always love your videos. Wish I had a musical instrument store in my town half as cool as yours. Much love and support from the US. Being a Gibson owner, I'm partial to your LP and SG videos. But you guys always provide ample information on tone and feel of every instrument you review. I thank you for that. That being said, plug a 2013 Gibson Les Paul Trad PRO 2 into a Boss ME80 into an Orange Dark Terror and turn Chappers and Afro loose on that. I'd consider it a personal favor. Cheers.
i love the captain , hes not some big wig boss who just sits there with the money piling up, he gets out there and actually demonstrates what he's selling and he enjoys it probably more than he does the money he gets
I own a 2011 Studio and there is a difference to a Standard for sure! But with your favorite pickups in it (and the right set up) you get a really great "guitar-price-performance". It is definitely a really good guitar and I think for people that can not afford a Standard it is really great! As a "second" guitar or backup it is fine!
Studios are great guitars! I've got a 2010 built Gibson Les Paul Studio, very nice guitar to play and has a great sound. I played it how it came for a year until I decided to replace the pickups and get it professionally set up. Stuck a Seymour Duncan Sh-4 JB model in the bridge position and put a Seymour Duncan Jazz Model in the neck. Cost a fair bit to do but it doubled the sound of the guitar. As a guitar I think the studio plays very well and stays in tune pretty well too! Well worth buying!
Great video! I have always liked the look of the Les Paul Studio guitars. I think it is the lack of binding on the body. My favorites are the green and blue colors that I show in my videos. Have a great day!
Chappers, do a studio vs standard battle where you incorporate split screen technology and have 2 yes TWO Rob Chapmans blazing away. 1 with a standard, 1 with a studio where each Chappers takes turns at blistering solos while the other chugs away with some meaty chords. Make it happen Rob. You know you want it as much as we do.
Great guitars & great video! Haven't seen the Fender LA100 "Blue Man" Custom in a while, good to see her in the background. Now lets just get some more videos of the Captain player her. ;-)
I own a studio, a standard and a classic. All three have different tones. Yes the studio is cheaper in price and not up to the standard of the other two but is still a quality guitar. All three are in fact over priced however thats just the nature of the beast. I will say this the best thing about the studio for me is if it gets scratched or bumped into i dont have a heart attack!!!!!
So years LATER, in Jan of 2019, I bought a " like new" in the case 2012 Nitrous Cosmic Cobalt Blue Studio. Love Gibson Les Pauls. I have a 57 BB 3 P'up Custom, a 08 Blonde Beauty AAA Studio, an EPIC 18 CSB Std, sporting AAAA for the price of a 3A, and this latest 2012 LP Studio. Four LPs, 2 are Studios, and I can't putem down. Everybody has their opinions, but I've got 4 different kinds of sounds, electronics, and I've read LOTS of comments on all of them from "players", "experts", etc. All I can say is that old or new, the right Les Paul for you, is the one YOU like, and feel that mojo from. Doesn't matter the decade, model, color, or year. All the bullshit I've heard, read, about Gibson quality, or ?.... I could give a rat shit about. 95% of the phukktards commenting can't play shit anyway. The two Studios flatdafukkk hold their own against the Std, or Custom 3 P'up BB, and THAT tells me, you, all ya need to know folks. 3 Gibson LPs from the 2000's, that lots of folks say suck... Bullshit. They look, feel/sound awesome, and two are WAY lighter, coming in under #8. The chambering gets some EPIC resonance and sounds to the amps, and add depth to your tone pallet. The 2012 CCB Studio would NOT be my color choice for a guitar, but the CLOWNSHOE who sold it to me "like new", in the case, candy, buff cloth, strap N all, sold it to me in 2019 because " he didn't like the color". $650 bucks cuz you didn't like the color? Selling CHEAP because your "brozz" said the color sucked?! OK. Yea. Well, ...in my world, I'll rip the neck off this thing like I do the rest of my gits, and NOT give a PHUKKK what anybody thinks of the color, Can you see that on a CD?..... Nope. Hear it?.... Nope! And, you DIDN'T like deep metallic blue, so you like, GAVE that rare colored muhffukkker away. NICE! THANK YOU!!!! Turns out I LOVE that blue! My favorite Hot Wheels car was that same damn color. Go figure. Sucker born every day I guess.
can't wait to see the new LP video. i think y'all should look at some of the new Explorers that Gibson put out... love those guitars. sadly i missed my chance at getting the one with the Floyd but they've got the Traditional Pro and the baritone one out now... i'd love to see what Chappers could do with an Explorer baritone.
i have a exclusive edition les paul studio (think its 2008) in white and i love the discolour im starting to get on the neck :D makes it look vintage. im liking their new range, more versetile
my pleasure ;) I am not that "SG guy" actually, but a friend of mine is and his SG Standard is really great for all classic rock tones you can imagine. As already said, I own a 2011 Studio and I would recommend it as a "low budget standard" I haven´t played a Epiphone that "felt" good or even "sounded" good, yet (Personal opinion) You might have a look at other brands, not just Gibson or Epi, when you need a "low budget" Guitar. There are many goodies out there, just "try out guitars" ;)
You asked for it - we shot it!! Coming soon, we shoot out the 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard, vs the Gibson Studio 2012, vs the new 2012 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro. Stay tuned - should be on Robs channel around mid July.
Great video as always from Cap'n and Chappers... Any chance you guys will be doing a vid for the new 70's tribute models with th mini buckers!? The SG and Goldtop LP are of particular interest.... Go on, I'll buy one if you do :)
If anyone is looking for a cheaper les paul and considering one of these, I would highly reccomend checking out the studio tributes. I've only played the 50s one but it was absolutely fantastic. Compared it to a custom and it blew it away.
True bro. I picked out my 89 SG Special out of about 15 SGs! She is a jem, the best SG I have played, sounds as big and gutsy as my LP. I think I am getting something different like the new Les Paul 50s Tribute Goldtop with P-90s. Also would love the new Guild S-100 Polara reissue. :) Peace brother.
@PuR1fy But they do still do the les Paul that way, just get a traditional. Only the woods that they can't legally get have changed with those and these are supposed to be a push forward. I suppose it's also kind of a way of saying that starts can have humbuckers and Les Paul's can have single coils.
It would be awesome if you could do a video of the Fender RW Telecaster, which would be the Fender equivalent of the Studio. I currently trying to decide between them and i just can't make my mind up about witch one i like the most.
granadillo (grana -di-yoh) wood, the one in the fretboard is almost as hard as ebony but has similar looks of rosewood. its highly resonant with a metallic tone. its more commonly used in south america for instruments.
@Jimmy87268 but its made to sound like a single coil. And what guitars are most associated with single coils? Strats. So in a way yes. It's kind of made to sound like a strat in the most narrow sense.
I would Love!! if you guys did a review of the Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 Head .. seems very cool, would be awesome to hear ya'lls opinion about that one. I'm learning a lot from the captain talking about features and stuff from experience and more insight than the "normal" user .. well you both rock ! Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 Head
Hiya. Saw your comment there about the Melody Maker guitars. Just my opinion, but if you can save enough for a Melody Maker, hold onto the money until you can afford the Studio. They really don't suck and it might even be a lifelong purchase.
I have a 2012 Gibson Explorer with the Grenadillo fingerboard and i cant say i like it.Its a bit soft and raw,i definately prefer the density of rosewood and ebony. The only fretboard of the "new" materials Gibson experiment i like is the baked maple.
god dammit and at 12:00...chappers I have seen you in like 100 videos and you played your best 2 blues solos in the same video within like 10 minutes of each other...on my guitar...just like how I play my silverburst. killed it bro
I'm the 76,000th person to watch this. I feel special. I love it when Rob plays cleaner......man he sounds good. Articulate.
You guys have some of the best reviews on youtube ... thanks a lot!
Dai dai che la nuova bimba les paul arriva! :D
Man, Lee's blues playing has gotten really good.
These alnico pickups sound great and I love the look of the red finish combined with the gold control knobs .
I have a 2012 Studio mat black white pick guard. Love this guitar. Sounds great a very rarely goes out of tune.
"A sassy lassy with a classy chassis" Would never have thought that about a guitar, but now that I do, sounds uber nice!
also i doubt someone will read this... i really enjoy your work! your doing a really good job explaining features even for semi amateurs like me (who isn´t even native english speaker :D)
so i just wanted to let you know that i just bougt a les paul standart some weeks ago, highly influenced by your reviews of gibson guitars, and i will never regret it. thanks for your awesome work!
I have been watching Anderton's vids for a long time but I've never seen this one.The tones in this video are somehow some of the best still!
Those 2012 Les Paul studios are special
that was honestly some of the best playing I've heard from chappers
Got my first les paul yesterday. It's a 1993 les Paul studio black. It's amazing!!!
"... a sassy lassie with a classy chassis..." this phrase made my day :D
The sound through the tone king is amazing, I really like the tonality
Y'all got the best reviews. Very informative with some good humor. And chap can shred. Much love from georgia( that's in America)

Could I just please point out Lee's blues and vibrato is glorious
Sassy lassie with a classy chassis is a perfect description
i love the captain , hes not some big wig boss who just sits there with the money piling up, he gets out there and actually demonstrates what he's selling and he enjoys it probably more than he does the money he gets
I received mine on May 1st, and I just love the sound !!! Cant wait to get it back again.
I think I just fell in love with the red one!! Just awesome guitar
I remember that set , so many years ago !!!
Gotta love that silver finish.
I own a 2011 Studio and there is a difference to a Standard for sure!

I have this guitar. The one Rob is playing. I love it.
Coffee and Chappers in the morning HEAVEN
I demand a Chap n Capt tour! Awesome playing. More les paul videos please!!
I like that there are a bunch of fenders in the background.
i enjoy looking at the cushions on the couch
I surely hope you guys make that Gibson Studio versus Standard-video, I think many (including me) would appreciate a proper comparison video!
Studios are great guitars! I've got a 2010 built Gibson Les Paul Studio, very nice guitar to play and has a great sound. Studio vs Standard comparison - YES please do it !!
Upvote if you agree

Make it happen Rob. You know you want it as much as we do.
Placing one on my 'Wish List' right now. Nice playing guys.
I enjoyed every second eventhough I never play electric (and I play since 1975!)
Lee's playing is really nice, great bluesy feel. I don't know why he says he's a bad.. He's great.
i have the studio in satin fireburst and it is brilliant it is well worth the money
I love my les paul studio worn cherry. Very nice tones you fellows had in this video.
I am watching this almost 2 years later indeed
5 years later
@Axel V 1 month later
12 years later
nice review - bought and didnt regret it!
Yes for the versus video!
Great guitars & great video! Haven't seen the Fender LA100 "Blue Man" Custom in a while, good to see her in the background. Now lets just get some more videos of the Captain player her. ;-)

The new nitrous finish colors look great.
thumbs up for their accent

I bought a 2012 ebony faded less than a year ago, and I agree with everything you said here
Great comment. I’m gonna buy a 2012 les Paul studio. What are your thoughts on it?
@@krissymf that's what mine is, and its fantastic.
I just discovered the Nitrous Studios and I’m dying for a green or orange one. If you decide to sell your blue let me know!

really good idea!
i love your videos. now, i will buy a les paul studio 2012. thnx!! :D
If anyone is looking for a cheaper les paul and considering one of these, I would highly reccomend checking out the studio tributes. I've only played the 50s one but it was absolutely fantastic. Compared it to a custom and it blew it away.
ah cool i see! i wish they would hurry man, beat waitin on the edge of my seat to be able to hear this thang.

they're the 'faded' ones with the satin finish
Have you guys done the Alex Lifeson signature Gibson in Royal crimson? You should totally do a review!!
Great playing, where did you guys get your backing tracks?
@PuR1fy But they do still do the les Paul that way, just get a traditional. Only the woods that they can't legally get have changed with those and these are supposed to be a push forward. I currently trying to decide between them and i just can't make my mind up about witch one i like the most.
Do a video on the Les Paul 50s tribute with the 498t and 490r!
granadillo (grana -di-yoh) wood, the one in the fretboard is almost as hard as ebony but has similar looks of rosewood. its highly resonant with a metallic tone. its more commonly used in south america for instruments.

Hey! Could you use an epiphone tribute plus guitar!! It would be a great help!
i love the one that lee has, that thing looks like tommy thayers guitar! love it!
Silver birch.... I cracked up. Niceeeeeeee :D
I really want to see this guys!!!!!
Lee in the beginning: sitting there and thinking "DAT BLOOZE!"
Do two vids
all the les Paul model shoot out for Gibson and epiphone :D
I picked a LP Traditional over a standard :) I think they are the best ones
Definitely do the comparison!
the ones in the video have granadillo fretboards,a type of rosewood.the cheaper faded studios have baked maple
When are you guys testing out the new 1 watt marshals? specially the JCM800 based one :P
I´d like to see a review of the Les Paul Traditional with the 50´s neckprofile and non-chambered body. And ofcourse compare em all :).
Yeah, I watch their stuff to hear him play. It would just be nice for me to be able to understand him.
Hiya. Saw your comment there about the Melody Maker guitars. Just my opinion, but if you can save enough for a Melody Maker, hold onto the money until you can afford the Studio. They really don't suck and it might even be a lifelong purchase.
Andertons bros! We need to see a video on the 70s Tribute series! MINI HUMBUCKERS :O
i would love to see a standard vs studio video
I have a 2012 Gibson Explorer with the Grenadillo fingerboard and i cant say i like it.Its a bit soft and raw,i definately prefer the density of rosewood and ebony. The only fretboard of the "new" materials Gibson experiment i like is the baked maple.
You guys need to do a vid on the 2013 les paul studio deluxe ii '60
Could you please review future gear through 12 inch speakers? I think it would be better for comparison.
god dammit and at 12:00...chappers I have seen you in like 100 videos and you played your best 2 blues solos in the same video within like 10 minutes of each other...on my guitar...just like how I play my silverburst. killed it bro
please compare with the new lpj coming out! spec seems identical except for finish
Where can i find those backing tracks? they are awesome!
