I've recently been out observing double stars through the Astronomical League's observing program. It's amazing how many stars in the night sky can be split into two and sometimes three. Be sure to let everyone know what you've been out to observe!
That is wonderful to hear. I did their lunar program about 4 years ago and am currently working on a double start program they have! Is this your first AL program?
@@LateNightAstronomy We do have one in Colorado Springs, where is one of the best places in the country to stargazing due they light pollution policies, but still almost a two hours drive :(
I'm completely new to the hobby and I've been watching Venus when possible. I can get focused on it well, but being such a cloudy planet, it's hard to see much detail. Eventually I would like to get into picture taking, but one step at a time. I was going to get the Orion XT8 Dobsonian, but went crazy and bought their XT12.
Congrats on such an impressive purchase for your telescope. I currently have an 8 inch dobosonian and plan on moving up to a 12 inch dobsonian in a few years as my next big purhase. I have been out observing Venus as well lately and like you said it's a very bright planet but I can't ever quite make out surface details! Keep us updated on what you are out seeing!
Great Video. This month we don't have much to see except planets and DSOs.Bit on May 5th there is going to be a penumbral Lunar eclipse, Very exciting indeed 🌔
The North America Nebula is rising up earlier and earlier now. Starts climbing up around 1 am here in Maine. I captured it this past Wednesday morning. Did a wide field image @ 135 mm attached to my DSLR. Got both the North America Nebula and the Sadr region with the Cresent Nebula too.
You probably saw a meteor from the Lyrids. I was on on Aprild 19th around 10:00 PM and saw one shoot through the Ursa Major Constellation and break into 3 or 4 pieces before disapearing.
Thanks Michael. Exciting views coming this month. I'm getting new gear but hesitant. Had maybe 6 clear nights in the past 5 months. You know how it goes when getting new stuff.😁
@Late Night Astronomy I'm getting the am5,asi airplus, and guide scope and cams for my 8se. Any recommendations on guide scope /cam and 1 shot color would be appreciated.

I'm working on the Lunar program from Astronomical League.
Harder than I thought too, but a lot of fun. 👍

Anyone from Colorado down to some stargazing ?
Wish I was close by! Do you have any astronomy clubs in your area?

@@TWIMC_Tarsyo Yeah, that is a long drive. I wonder if they offer virtual options for meetings?

I'm looking forward to the warmer temperatures lol. It makes viewing meteor showers easier when sitting still in a lawn chair for long periods.
I couldn't agree more. April is when observing season kicks back into gear for me!

Thanks for the info. A lot of nice things coming up this year!
Galaxy season now too! Maybe you can catch a few.

That is a favorite target of mine for astrophotography! Well Done!
I seen something like star fallen ..just a fraction of seconds...what is it ...April 20 time 10:10 pm in India ...

@@LateNightAstronomy yes it fits in your description..this is the first time im witness a meteor...so happy right now❤️😲😍
I am enjoying Arcturus, right now!
That is a nice one rising this time of year!
The eclipse is just outside my driving distance. :)) Good look ahead.
Haha! Same for me. I sadly will be missing this one too!
Cool
I agree!
Thank you, Michael. Will it be possible to see the Whirlpool Galaxy this month April 2023? Would love to see a video.
Yes, the Whirlpool Galaxy is a fine target just off of Ursa Major this Spring and Summer!

I fear clouds are heading your way, haha. What new gear are you getting. I'm about to order a new pair of 10x50 binoculars from Orion.

@@perry3928 For those just getting into the hobby I like to recommend a cropped sensor DSLR or Mirrorless camera.
