About Married with Children:
The less-than-lovable Bundys are a radical departure from the saccharine-sweet TV families popular since the days of Father Knows Best. With offbeat humor and unflinching honesty, Married... paints a more realistic picture of middle-class existence, warts and all. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) is a shoe salesman who is fond of frequently reliving his doubtful 15 seconds of fame on the football field. Al is terrified of the all-too-frequent amorous advances of his ditsy wife Peggy (Katey Sagal), who spends most of Al's wages at the salon and the mall. They have two teenage kids: stunning but superficial party animal Kelly (Christina Applegate) and egocentric Bud (David Faustino). Married for 16 semi-blissful years, Peggy and Al have found that the secret to a happy marriage is to accept one another's idiosyncrasies.

@TRUMP Won that’s a very closed minded way of looking at it. I’ve been married for 7 years and have never regretted it one single day. It’s about the one you choose. A lot of people get married for the wrong reasons. That’s the problem, not marriage itself. I would have been perfectly happy never being married, but the right woman came into my life so I did. Had nothing to do with being alone.

What's crazy is he had a 3 bedroom, 2 and a half bath house and garage, with a full basement, 2 kids and a dog and he took care of all if it working at a shoe store. One of the best shows ever created.

This show was not real. Their "house" was a studio. They were not married to each other and Kelly and Bud were not their children.

There is another episode where he's in a room with a woman who is all over him. He could have done what he wanted and Peg would never have found out, but he said no because he was a good man who loved his wife.

This had to be THE most hysterical show on TV. There was absolutely nothing like it at the time. I feel like more people had a sense of humor 30+ years ago. Now, shows like this unfortunately wouldn't be allowed to air.

"Married...with Children" came out when I was 15-16 years old and couldn't give a shit less about TV. Too busy high-schooling, working for a few bucks, and BEING OUTSIDE.

THIS entire series on DVD is the ONLY show that plays on my 10 year old television, and $35 dvd player.

This is great and all, but did you know that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game for the Polk High Panthers, in the championship game versus Andrew Johnson High, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon?
You know, I didn't think so when I was a kid, but Al was a pretty great Dad.

All 4 main characters improved greatly over the seasons and peaked imo between seasons 4-6. They crafted their personalities and voices to perfection. Especially Peg and Bud.

I watched a ton of MWC when I was young and my favorite episodes were always the mid to later season episodes - I think they really came into their own.

The first season had completely different energy than the following ones. I much prefer the later ones. In the first season, Al and Peg were much more normal and more affectionate towards each other.

I agree. Typically, actors like to tweak their roles over time, based on the audience reaction. The first season of any series is always more of an "experiment" than anything else. Once the writers and actors on this show got comfortable with the level of craziness they could show without repercussions, they took it up a notch.

I grew up on this show and I always had a thing for Peg. She was always down for some good times. I used to think Al was nuts to refuse her. Being married for 11 years with a son and daughter, I get it now, I’m turning into the man that raised me. Best tv dad of all time.
