I'm the sort of enby who will listen to anything, but generally as far as full albums go, I prefer to stick to rock and metal*. I use music to inspire me and keep me focused, and most genres of rock and metal just make happy brain chemicals go brrr the most. But with that said, I will absolutely give The Cure a listen per your recommendation! For a non-metal album I have loved this year, I'd recommend "Fever Dream" by Alunah. It's classic occult rock brought to life with the most impassioned, enthusiastic drive and technicality I've heard all year. Look up the song "Trickster of Time" and you'll see what I mean! Been considering listening to Brat by Charli XCX recently, I've literally not listened to or heard anything from it yet. When it was blowing up, I decided to avoid it as 1.) I was already focused on listening to stuff I had planned on listening to and 2.) I know I've been overthinking/thinking too deeply when I say this, and most probably been too stereotypical in my thinking, but I decided to not listen to it as I was worried that, as a teenage boy (who at the time was fully focused on metal), I was worried that I wouldn't be able to enjoy or get into the album or that I wouldn't be able to truly relate to or understand any of the album's themes, especially since the album has had such a significant cultural impact, especially amongst women. However, over the past month I've been trying to listen to more non-metal artists, and whilst I do try to anyways, I've actually been listening to more popular pop music. Of this I've only really been listening Taylor Swift (her early albums are actually seriously so good y'all), but I do plan on listening to artists like Chappell Roan, Carly Rae Jepsen (maybe Sabrina Carpenter) and hopefully soon Charli XCX with Brat (bear in mind I've literally NEVER listened to ANYTHING by the artists I've listed, obviously apart from 'Call Me Maybe' Carly Rae Jepsen, that song never gets old).

Kim Gordon - The Collective (Matador) | USA 9. Moin - You Never End (AD 93) | UK 10. Water Damage - In E (12XU) | USA 11. Bingo Fury - Bats Feet for a Widow (The State51 Conspiracy) | UK 12. Still House Plants - If I Don’t Make It, I Love U (Bison) | UK 13. Crippled Black Phoenix - The Wolf Changes Its Fur But Not Its Nature (Season Of Mist) | UK
I'm really happy to see Flight b741 on the list, even as an honorable mention. This album has become really important to me, it reminds me of records I used to listen to with my grandpa and I think it'd be right up his alley if he were around to hear it. Nobody else in the server has talked about it, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.
What about Magdalena Bay’s Imaginal Disk, which has sat comfortably at number 1 on the users AOTY chart since its release? Btw, these charts are a pretty good reference point to find new music.

Those are all fine albums, but they're mostly the big consensus favorites. I think there are many more albums that would align with your tastes, but to be fair you devote most of your time to finding the best underground metal, which you're great at!
Here's a list from my Fester's Lucky 13, Non-Metal for Metalheads:
1. Bent Knee - Twenty Pills Without Water (Take This to Heart) | USA
2. Oneida - Expensive Air (Joyful Noise) | USA
3. Dool - The Shape of Fluidity (Prophecy Productions) | Netherlands
4. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She (Gine) | USA
5. Julie Christmas - Ridiculous and Full of Blood (Red Creek) | USA
6. Mamaleek - Vida Blue (The Flenser) | USA
7. Nightshift - Homosapien (Trouble In Mind) | UK
8. Kim Gordon - The Collective (Matador) | USA
9. Moin - You Never End (AD 93) | UK
10. Water Damage - In E (12XU) | USA
11. Bingo Fury - Bats Feet for a Widow (The State51 Conspiracy) | UK
12. Still House Plants - If I Don’t Make It, I Love U (Bison) | UK
13. Crippled Black Phoenix - The Wolf Changes Its Fur But Not Its Nature (Season Of Mist) | UK
Other genres are just a myth. Metal was founded by the Beatles
Yellow Submarine still the most metal song of all time
I'm really happy to see Flight b741 on the list, even as an honorable mention. This album has become really important to me, it reminds me of records I used to listen to with my grandpa and I think it'd be right up his alley if he were around to hear it. Nobody else in the server has talked about it, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.
not seeing the new xiu xiu record on here breaks my heart a little but otherwise fantastic fantastic list!
Glad to see most of comments agree on Chelsea Wolfe being a clear highlight of 2024.
Gotta listen the new The Cure still tho.
Intro's fun as heck btw 😂
Glad to see KG got an honorable mention, spun that album so much this year
I actually thought I clicked the wrong video when I saw CNN 😂
What about Magdalena Bay’s Imaginal Disk, which has sat comfortably at number 1 on the users AOTY chart since its release?
Btw, these charts are a pretty good reference point to find new music.
Great album, not one of my favs. And I'm not in the habit of adding an album on a list just because its popular.
@ me either, just so happens this one is highly regarded because it’s actually pretty magnificent
Dude this intro ruled 😂
Love the comedic intro.
Denzel Curry’s King of the Mischievous South vol 2 was absolutely my favorite album of the year!
new King Diamond song finally come out on the 17th
2:21 my reaction when I discover that my bank account has $0.00 😱
I knew the intro to this video would be awesome tbh
you should rebrand the channel to the music meltdown and review whatever the fuck you want through the whole year.
btw, my favorite non-metal album this year was allie x - girl with no face.
Ehh. Sometimes thats tempting but I mostly listen to and wanna talk about metal. So for now, The Metal Meltdown it is and will remain.
great album!
This is horrible why people keep making other music
DEWOLFF-Muscle Shoals is a good one for the Dan Auerbach/Black Keys retro rockers.
Kendrick's new album unfortunately didn't do anything for me. Nothing will top Good Kid and TPAB. Great that you liked it though :)
having the new Ice Spice album as your favorite non metal album this year is brave, but worthy
also The Story So Far is mine. or the new Alkaline Trio
Earphone warning 2:22😆
to be fair, its not a Metal Meltdown video if there isn't a chance I'll destroy your eardrums
Top Rock ~
The Cure - Songs Of A Lost World
North Sea Echo - Really Good Terrible Things (Heavy Rock/Metal)
Richie Kotzen - Nomad
Top R&B/Hip Hop ~

Top Orchestral ~

Kamasi Washington - Fearless Movement

Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard & Soft

I try to stick with the "supposed to be top10" numbering like a normal person would, but then... I remember I'm at The Metal Meltdown ¬¬
For some reason I just never liked that format, doesn't help that mfers will be like 'wait this is #6? Instead of #1??? WHAT THE HELL DUDE!' lmao
I like listening to to metal and Zelda orchestra.
That intro was spectacular.
lol Drake pulls a Dexter…
I love Chromakopia but Sticky is my least favorite track on it haha
the intro ahahahah

LOVED this video thank you, I've been lurking around for some time here, but thought I'd take the opportunity to come and say 'Hi!'. Music is truth, thanks for sharing yours.
This guy is a 🤡
and yet you keep tuning in 🤔🤔🤔
Personally I gotta say the best country record to come out is the new Sturgill Simpson record (under the moniker Johnny Blue Skies) Passage du Desir
I’m actually always relieved to hear that you listen to other genres besides metal because I feel like some metalheads only consume metal and nothing else. 😂
Metal isnt the only genre of music??? Damn mindblown!!!! But Fr Thrashin… give country, especially outlaw country, a chance. Pretty metal af even if not metal.
