Getting ready for the Continental Classic which starts Wednesday. He’s automatically in the Tournament as the Continental Champion and has had some nice video packages framing him as the Greatest Japanese Tournament Wrestler of All-Time as he looks to further cement his Legacy. Would’ve liked to have seen him defending the Title last night though, to tease that he could’ve lost the Title and his Tournament Spot right before it begins.
While I enjoyed parts of the show (like Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher), Full Gear didn’t reach the heights of Revolution, Dynasty, All In, and All Out. While I am happy Daniel Garcia won, I would have preferred Ricky Starks beating Jack Perry for the TNT Championship. As much as I like Darby Allin, I would love to see Swerve Strickland or Will Ospreay dethrone Jon Moxley. Swerve needs another world title run, and I would love to see Ospreay as world champion. I’ll also add that I’m glad Kenny Omega is making his in ring return with New Japan. He is set to wrestle Gabe Kidd at the Wrestle Dynasty show on January 5th. If you don’t know who Gabe Kidd is, check out his backstage promos within the past year.
That ending was absolutely a bit much, and while I agree that AEW is cold, I can’t say I disliked as much on the Show as you did, despite being more hyped for Wrestle Kingdom and Wrestle Dynasty overall. Just to fill you in on the Jay White thing, he wanted revenge on Christian and Hanger after coming back from his foot injury. He avenged losing to Page in the Owen by getting two straight wins over Adam to reinforce that Switch is his Kryptonite. He’s yet to to get his revenge on Christian though for taking the Trios Titles from Bullet Club Gold and costing him the Owen, because Hanger cost Jay the Singles Match on Dynamite 6 weeks ago and Jay and Juice lost the Tag 4 weeks later. So at the very least, he wanted to screw Cage out of his Cash-In. He’s also 2-0 against Moxley, with wins over him in the 2019 G1 Climax and the 2023 C2, so that plus his current 4 Match Win Streak likely gives him ground to challenge at World’s End, provided he’s not in the C2 again. Can’t say I’m as down on OC, whom I always viewed as the fit set Sacrificial Lamb, and Darby as you, because Mikey Whipwreck, Rey Mysterio, and even Rich Swann are former World Champions in big companies, but I’d love to see Swerve go after Mox too, since he’s got a C2 loss to avenge, as he’s mentioned before in Media Scrums. Not to mention Will also has that Windy City Riot loss to possibly avenge himself.
i was at the event and the crowd was awesome. Lots of this is awesome, holy shit but like you send you can tell people really got tired toward the end. me and my friends got there at 6:20 and didnt get home till 1am. the event was long as shit
I didn't watch it because I knew it'd be way too long and here in Europe it was night time. I've just realized it lasted until about 6 am here, which is absolutely crazy. 5 hours for WrestleMania in 2019 were too much, but 5 hours of Full Gear, which isn't AEW's equivalent to a WrestleMania or a Starrcade- that'd be All In or All Out - is just ridiculous. The booking of the shows has been weird for months. There are two heel groups trying to take over, then there's whatever is going on with the Callis Family, with Christian Cage, the Hurt Syndicate are also heel... it's very weird. And Tony Khan is pushing Daniel Garcia, Orange Cassidy, Jack Perry, Darby Allin...even if it's not working. Then Kenny Omega shows up in New Japan to start building a feud when he has the angle with the New Elite waiting here. The Adam Cole and MJF rivalry is completely backwards because MJF turned heel to feud with Daniel Garcia, sacrificing the entire angle to give that guy a puslh.
crazy how world of geekdom just fails to just admit that aew at this point is at wcw levels and that the company is slowly but surely dying and he used the excuse of 'oh tony comes form big money, his father will continue to fund this' yeah sure but i truly believe either his father is reaching the point where either has about to cut him off or has already because even people form big money even they expect returns on their investments and tony khan for the love of god is just a piss poor leader for the company he wants to always be Mr. nice guy to everyone instead of being a actual boos like triple h who is ruthless and will make the decisions that will benefit the company in the long run; either tony Kahn needs to step down asap or he is going to take down aew with it; if you second guess that then just take a look at the dwindling attendance
Aew is just in a very strange spot, i dont know why its been this way but aew hasnt felt as big as they use to in a very long time. Its not a lack of talent its just creative, interesting and fun creative. Say what you want about wwe but usually they have interesting stuff going on, aew does not have that its just missing that creative spark. I dont think aew will die off and just go away but the companies popularity has taken a huge hit in the past couple years compared to 2020 and 2021
This whole PPV was really a two-match card: Ospreay vs. Fletcher and Lashley vs. Swerve. Sorry, but Moxley's stock continues to plummet, and Pockets is not, nor will he ever be a main event. Several matches didn't even need to be on the card, including all three pre-show matches. Big Boom AJ vs QT was Tony's poor attempt to replicate the aura and hype of Logan Paul being in the WWE. But it fails when the most over a person is an obese 8-year-old named the Rizzler, but remember according to AEW fans, WWE is for children. The 4-way tag match wasn't bad, Private Party retained as they should, but you also run the risk of the crowd turning on them because you also had the Outrunners who are the most over-tag team AEW has right now. Besides that, we had the tease of the Acclaimed split. I hate to say this but MJF shouldn't be the second match on the card, he also should not still be in this feud with Cole and Roddy. If it wasn't for the fact it was in New Jersey this didn't need to be the card. Kris Statlander's back is hurting after that massive carry job she gave Mercedes, but of course, the Diva with creative control was going to retain. We were also forced to see her "acting." I feel bad that Kamille still has to be involved in this. Hangman losing to Jay White was unexpected and raised more questions later. Ospreay/Fletcher of course was the The Meltzer match of the night. Didn't expect Fletcher to win, too bad they bury the creditability of the piledriver yet again, to make it happen. That was one massive problem with this match and the show overall. There were 8 piledrivers through the night and only 1 finished anyone off. Mariah May turning on Mina didn't need to be on the show, and I hope both are okay after that nasty bump. Again this could have been saved for Dynamite if it didn't lead to the return of Toni Storm. Ratings Cancer Garcia is now a champion and the crowd didn't care either way. Perry has no value with the Bucks "working from home." Takeshita was retained as he should have been, but this match had almost no build and could have been saved for Dynamite. I'm sure Ricochet will complain on Twitter. Lashley continues to be an imposing figure no matter where he wrestles. Of course, he shouldn't be losing but Swerve gave him a good challenge. Now we see where this feud goes from here. Finally the complete dumpster fire of the main event. Pockets and Neo Moxi are both insults to the business, Moxley wins after a clusterfuck brawl, a failed cash-in by Cristian, and a literal car crash from Darby. The whole PPV was just badly planned and badly booked, easily one of the weakest PPVs in AEW's history.
"easily one of the weakest PPVs in AEW's history" - now, that's quite an easy "feat" to achieve, given how strong AEW's ppv's usually are. Gotta agree though that it was more of a set-up show than a regular ppv. Pretty much the whole card "could" have been done on dynamite np (the sole "real disappointment" imo was the after-show mess though. It's hard to take Mox's Deathriders serious when they get ambushed to the point of outright running away...).
11:00 - agreed - there is some obsession with Tony thinking kicking out of big moves and not selling makes them look stronger, but you know in aew if it's not their finisher, it won't end the match 99% of the time
The worst thing that could've happened to AEW creatively was getting that rights renewal. Because of it TK's already overinflated ego has reached to the point where he truly believes he can do no wrong.
Listen, I fell asleep during the PPV, woke up, and was distracted by a woman dressed in black and white with green hair. Seeing her sheer boredom through the event was a distraction I didn't need for tonight.
I thought that The TBS Title match was absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. The crowd was on their feet in the closing moments. This match definitely exceeded my expectations & is one of my favorite matches of Full Gear VI. Definitely one of my favorite women’s matches of 2024. Easily Mercedes best AEW match so far imo
I'm gonna get h8 for this but I have been watching AEW since day 1 so I'm gonna say it ... This was the worst PPV they have put on ever, and I am done at $50 per ppv I'm just out I'm taking a break from aew for awhile , at least till January maybe longer
They should have had MVP be the "nwo person" bring in lashley and benjamin have a 3 on 3 match. Like hogan have a mystery man who would then turn out to be moxley. That would have been much better than this death rider rubbish. I mean pac seriously? Guys garbage. If they really want to save this group in my opinion. I think they should tease a hurt syndicate vs death riders feud. Have them team up with darby but then have them all turn on darby and merge the group and call them the hurt riders syndicate. That would be a super heel group that could challenge and takeover AEW. Then you could have the elite come back with omega to create a massive feud between the groups
The only way this deathrider thing could work is if there was a big reveal. Like if Shane McMahon were to come out and take over the company. Idk the juice so far isn't worth the squeeze.
Their first match in AEW TK immediately turned into a ladder match for zero reason other than Jeff can barely work a singles anymore. Darby did a swanton off a ladder on to nobody, just six chairs with seats down. AEW in a nutshell
Boom tik tok guy had a better match than most of the matches on this ppv😭
Kevin Owens fought the Bloodline for 4 years
Shit Owens been beefing with Roman for like almost a decade now
Where is OKADA

I enjoyed Will Ospreay .. I don't have much else good to say about this ppv and I used to love aew
It is sad the state of AEW right now. Nothing makes sense anymore. All TK cares is about matches with 10k spots with no story and buildup.
Huge wins for Bobby and Kyle but where do they go from here ? The champs are heels lmaoo

I got the WCW vibes too. Bad booking and the wrestlers having too much influence. It’s bad
I didn't watch it because I knew it'd be way too long and here in Europe it was night time. I want Kenny in WWE before his body is too broken down for a decent run. He's got a great Intercontinental reign in him if he's kept healthy
That was a WCW ending

in dying days of wcw there was barely even a single good match on the ppvs atleast aew has couple of great matches
Everything you said agrees with what danny says...
Darby as world champion is TK and his ultimate power fantasy. He is just Spike Dudley but we're supposed to take him seriously?
Aew is just in a very strange spot, i dont know why its been this way but aew hasnt felt as big as they use to in a very long time. No, Danielson, Punk,, Rhodes and Omega
It is smaller
It's obvious now that moxley, Copeland and Jericho are just fortunate wwe creations
The Darby spot reminded me of the White Hummer angle so I get what you are saying
AEW does not use talent Right. Literally

imagine crying this much over wrestling 😂
@@caaaaravvvv2004no kidding 😂
This comment has more words than the actual video
why would anyone be excited? you have the plumber vs the company mascot for your main event
Big Boom! AJ should have been on the ppv and was peak
DG is awesome. Bring the open challenge back. He'll shine
I’m in nyc I wanted to go but the card wasn’t doing it to me it wasn’t worth the 2hr commute.
The international title was at it's best when OC had it.
11:00 - agreed - there is some obsession with Tony thinking kicking out of big moves and not selling makes them look stronger, but you know in aew if it's not their finisher, it won't end the match 99% of the time
International championship should be the secondary belt. TNT should be third.
Piledrivers should end matches, and keep whoever received one off Tv for at least one week
They have a big roster yet no one is really over. Ok many small guys. Over booked matches and afterbirth.
Everyone there under 6'ft 210lbs needs to go. Wrestlers are supposed to look larger than life, not like dudes you see at the bar or work
fans who say aew is at wcw levels didn’t grow up during the dying wcw days😭 Different levels to horrendous.
There are some elements of wcw 2000 in aew but yeah we're not at Russo as world champion levels
The booked swerve horribly as a champion
The worst thing that could've happened to AEW creatively was getting that rights renewal. Because of it TK's already overinflated ego has reached to the point where he truly believes he can do no wrong.
So you’re saying AEW should’ve be gone and only WWE be the primary wrestling promotion? The fuck is this, 2006? Cmon man!
Listen, I fell asleep during the PPV, woke up, and was distracted by a woman dressed in black and white with green hair. Seeing her sheer boredom through the event was a distraction I didn't need for tonight.
I liked the ppv but agree with what you said bro. Need a re adjustment for sure
who is the chubby kid
What was it, $49.95? Are they joking or delusional?
Jon will always be Dean Ambrose “the lunatic fringe” to me!!!!
So what happened to the christian/hook storyline? And why wasn’t it on this card?
Tony and the community he comes from know time is up do hes having fun.

Mate what? Swerve had a terrible title run.
God damn this might be the new low point this 💩 is downright horrendous
I wonder if monkey's could write a better story?

A lot of overthinking here for a TV show.
That was such a trash show. Way to many 1 V 1 matches, the ending was lame.. tired if supporting this mess
My dream Match I would love AEW vs TNA Darby Allin vs Jeff Hardy match
I think they have faced each other on an episode of rampage a few years ago
