Girl's Night Out! All this because Bruce is late getting back from France so he can chat to the Eiffel tower again! I loved how Batgirl and Supergirl became instant friends, no rivalry or anything, it was so heartwarming! I liked the part when they're bonding over their alternate upbringings and wishing they were each over, that was so sweet. I thought the Ivy controlled hedge animals was a fantastic idea, I'm surprised it hadn't been done before! This one is one of my all time favorites for obvious reasons. I must fave watched it like a billion times! Great pod guys it was wonderful to hear from Dan. Five stars and five privet hedge animals
Wait, does Dan Riba regularly listen?!? Is he a sock puppet!? Am I DAN RIBA? That typed as Dan Ribs the first time and now I fully believe if I develop a split personality due to the wonders of life i will become Dan Ribs
I've been in a downer mood for a bit but you guys never fail to make me slime, especially when it's with a person who worked on the show talking about this nice tribute episode to Batman's history and mythos. I love you guys. ;) Stay strong and yop on! ❤
GIRL’S NIGHT OUT or “Zoo Pals Make Stealing Fun!” or “Let Go, G-N-O” (hugs to anyone who gets that reference) Let’s compare and contrast the way that the Mans and the Girls interact with each other in their respective team-ups. When Batman and Superman first meet, what happens? They’re hostile towards each other and Brucie judo flips Clark onto a table. They discover each other’s identities without respective permission and Bruce proceeds to taunt Clark over Lois Lane being more interested in him than Clark. And even when it’s all over, there’s still a sense of competitiveness between the two. When Batgirl and Supergirl first meet? Instantly supportive of one another and they more than likely tell each other their secret identities off screen as a sign of trust. Kara carries Barbara on her back to help scope out the city as well as give her a sense of what it’s like to fly. They problem solve, relate to one another, and there’s no sense of competition between the two of them because they both know none of that matters as what’s more important is to stop the villains from causing more trouble. And when all is said and done with them, they relax after a hard night’s work, have ice cream, and even earn Bullock’s begrudging respect. Points go to the ladies. I kid World’s Finest, obviously. We all know how great that is, and while this wasn’t intended to be as grand as that, it’s still a breezy fun episode nonetheless. I remember thinking it was just okay when I first saw it, but upon this rewatch, this might just go on my top 5 for TNBA. Good action, great voice acting, solid animation, and great music too. (Before we any further, James, Biggust is pronounced the same as “biggest” and I am disappointed that you, my good man, didn’t pick up on that. You still get your bear hug, but no cookie for you.) So with that said, Boss Biggust bear hugs to the number one podcast hosts in this here multiverse of ours: Junk Drawer and Blindingly Obvious. Praise to our lord and savior Dylan Pollack (keep up the great work on your own podcast and remember to tell Gab that she rules)! Likewise of course to all of his loyal disciples: Skarloey1, Batgirl Fangirl, Scotty Cameron, WENCY209, TipTapricot, Keen Machine, Jordan Newman, Zane Beatty, Kris Knife, LaNolaCola, Juan Pedro, Ashley Tuchin, Scrudge, the Banana family, Hex Lex, Eric LeBeau, the Banana Man-Bat, Austin Trousers, Slacks Payne, Ryan Hipp, Peter Pantaloons, Nick Sorenson, Kyle the Kyle, and of course ALL the awesome-sauce listeners of this yoppie community of ours. You all are the absolute best, don’t you ever forget that. I don’t feel like following up on the whole Banana Marc thing after what’s happened this week (the week that I typed this: 11/3-11/8). Maybe next week, but for now all I’ll say is look after one another. There are dark times ahead and in my eyes, the only way we can get through this is by taking care of ourselves and being there for each other. ‘Til next week, BANANA SMOKE BOMB 🍌 💣 💨💨💨 that’ll be blown out by a BANANA OL’ WHOOSH. (that’s cuz i just flew away bb 💋)
CO(n)Templations on Girls Night Out. (This is going to be a slightly longer one, but I hope you bear with me for this episode James) So! No voice message this week, that’s because this Monday that I’m writing this is unfortunately also the day my childhood dog, the dog I met through my stepmom when I was 7, is finally being put to sleep after a lovely 14 1/2 years of life. It’s never something to be ready for, but he’s going with love and intentionality. It’s his time. What reflections does this have on the episode you may ask? Well! I have a special place in my heart for Girls Night Out, as it was one of the few DCAU episodes my dad had downloaded for me and my sister to watch outside of the house. I think because we were both girls at the time, it fit to be one we would both enjoy. And we did! We watched it over and over and over again, while they took us to the laundromat, or on long drives where we would be too bored otherwise. Nowadays I don’t love the episode, the animation is odd and some of the jokes, girl power moments, and weird groping vines give it an off putting feeling to me. I also can’t connect to it like I used to, I’m set to be starting Testosterone HRT within the next few months, and have come to find a distance between myself and my sense of womanhood. But, all the same, it was important to me in my girlhood, just like the pets I’ve grown with too. And I think it’s kind of lovely to have it come up in the watch order now. Two things from my childhood, dear and loved and changed over the years, passing by at about the same time. I can only hope that Moss, the small Italian greyhound who loves to sniff my mouth, can have as fun of a time out there in whatever afterlife meets dogs as Barbara and Kara had that long night on the town. Sending love to every Yopper out there, and any Yappers that share their space with you 💕
Yeppers Mighty Jimmy and Bri the Blessed, it’s time for Girls Night Out (or Barbara needs friends her own age). Yeah it’s fine. But you know what’s better? The following comic recommendations! If you’re looking for better Barbara Gordon stories, read Gail Simone’s Birds of Prey run, it’s a lot of fun and shows the full depth of Bab’s as well as Black Canary. There’s like nine years of BoP so maybe something shorter. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a ten issue miniseries with stunning artwork, by Bilquis Everly, as well as a cool True Grit in space, style story by Tom King. Anyway it’s been three weeks and nobody is talking about Some Lady making her live action debut on The Penguin. Yaaaay, Some Lady! I knew you could do it. Yeah not a fan of this one, and I suspect Bri feels similarly. Well Tootles.
Probably one of the best Batman things ever. If they did this type of thing again what would you like to see? A Lego segment? court of owls? Something tied to btas?
I love the anthology nature episode and particularly the usage of the Bob Kane/Dick Sprang art styles and Frank Miller's. I think Miller's art looks better in animation than in comics.
Greetings Boy, Jorge! I missed commenting last week and wanted to quickly share my love for the Dick sprang segment and the Peter Weller DKR line deliveries. Now on to “Girls Night Out”. As a kid I remember having a fondness for Livewire but Leslie is a huge entitled brat in this episode. I did however love the running gag of Harley being hilariously inept compared with her counterparts. Thank you for the much needed reality break during these trying times. We live to yop another day.
If only the two episode screencaps were maintained. I would have loved seeing pogging joker and Frank Miller Batman on the same thumbnail. Although the future feels dark, I look forward to the lights that keep the world bright like you yoppie dudes. And remember: non heterosexual relationships are not sin, women are not anyone's property, and being openly bigoted is cringe

Hay super dark day having a lot of trouble in my life thanks for being there to lighten the day a bit
Sorry your days so dark, here’s some random emojis to brighten your day 🎉☀️🌞⛅️🌅🤩✨⭐️🌟💫
@steelydyl thank you .
How have I never seen this one? I've seen evry other episode so many times.
So joyous to see a new Batman episode.
*throws rock at banana Batman * RRRRRRROCK

I’d like to see the robins tell stories in different styles, there so many of them and I’m sure they all see the Batman differently
@ that would be cool
