    I've purchased this recently and I love it! 😊 Was tossing up between this and Tip2 and I went for this mainly because it was half the price. For the benefit of anyone interested I just want to point out out that while not having lockout mode or needing to press for a long time you still have to press the button pretty precisely with ample amount of pressure to accidentally turn it on, it may just be me but I have not needed to use the clip over the buttons to prevent accidental switching (I wear everyday attached to my keys in my pocket) No guarantee of course for anybody else with how you use it, but just my experience. Hope that helps 🙂

  • @ray_c_yuen
    @ray_c_yuen 4 місяці тому

    The 'Demo' mode replaces the lockout mode on older pre 2017 models of the Tip. To carry on your keys, put TIP SE in low mode. That way if you accidentally switch the light on from leaning on the button, it will only shine for thirty seconds before it shuts itself off. If you are using the light and it turns itself off, you have three seconds to turn it back on. It then does a once off daily (continuous mode). I find this a lifesaver as I sometimes go to use it, and it's dead. You press within three seconds and you can use continuously. When you switch it off, it goes back into demo mode. It saves having to unlock every time you want to use it. Pros and cons I suppose.

      Have you ever experienced accidentally removing the magnetic cover sir?

    • @David_Downs
      @David_Downs 2 роки тому

      @@philbrenner98 it would be virtually impossible to accidentally remove it, the magnet holds it in with about 5 pounds of pressure, one would have to actually try to remove it. I added a lanyard onto mine, just to have something to pull on, because trying to do it without something to pull is much harder to do.
      So you should not have to worry about it coming off without you know.

    I bought my TIP 2 more than 2 years ago. Under that time period I used almost every day, once I run over with my van when I was a deliveri driver, still good. I hold it in my keyring but if I need anywhere else I just pull out, because of the magnetic base I can stick it on any iron surfice, and if I keep pushing the top button I get the turbo level wich is stunning depend on the flashlight's size. I really recommend. I hope they will do the TIP 3 with usb C and 1000 lumens but in the same size.

    What i don't understand, my Tini2 has a 280 mAh battery, if i'm using 1 Lumen the flashlight works for 60 hours, the Tip Se with the same two leds Osram P8 and a so much bigger battery with 500 mAh get only 50 hours at 1 lumen. A flashlight with almost twice the amount of battery holds 10 hours less. Why?

    I wish the Tip 2 had a momentary low mode like the Tip SE, would make it better to me, the delay between pressing the light to on is longer than other lights and having quick access would be nice.
    I would like to see a Tip 3 that adds that feature, and is USB C rechargable and perhaps even brighter. But I am not complaining about 720 lumens in that size. Also a more functional clip on it than the detachable one that comes with it, a dedicated one would be nice.

    Been carrying TIP SE for a while and it serves me so so well. One downside; the protruding on/off button can activate by itself when sitting in the pant pocket. Not often though. And I don't like demo mode bc it may turn off at the very needed moment in use.
    HOWEVER, TIP SE is still my go-to pocket light after TIKI
    Thinking about getting a TIP 2 for a better on/off button protection and for a magnetic butt of TIP 2; however, the mini-usb charging port of TIP 2 is not fascinating at all for these modern days. (TIP SE does a great job for usb-C port.) Probably hold on to TIP SE.

    If you like the Tip, Which I do, I have 5, you will be disappointed to find that the Tip SE has NO LOCKOUT FUNCTION! I have all of their keychain lights and am waiting for my 2 new T4K lights. In my humble opinion, the UI of the Tip SE should have been identical to the Tip that everyone was used to.

The TIP 2 is great in all ways except there's a 2 second delay before the light turns on. That's terrible and I'm tempted to get rid of it for the SE as the instant on is so much more useful (as per my other TIP and tube lights). Is this actually waterproof though?.. Does anyone know if you can clip this to a hat in heavy rain without issue?

    Wouldn’t call this the best light anything, no manual lock out is extremely annoying, you can’t just throw it in your pocket without it getting activated. Much prefer a rear clicky light or a twisty.

      That’s what the reverse pocket clip is for, to cover the button

      Yeah I understand that, but would be nice to have the option.@@NitecoreSG

      @@youtubeuser5424 that’s also what the demo mode is for. It turns off after 30 seconds if you accidentally activate it in your pocket.
      The real use case of these lights is to have quick illumination when you need them on a daily basis. They tried lockout before on some models, but the pain of taking it out, press and holding for 3 seconds, before any light comes on, sort of defeats the purpose of a quick EDC light. That’s why the demo mode is there and there’s no lockout.

      @@NitecoreSG @Nitecore Lights Respectfully, I have a Tip SE and a T4K and much prefer lockout mode on the T4K. If the TIP SE is on a key ring it is slow and awkward to slide the clip back off the buttons to use them. It takes 2 hands and then I'm fiddling around with the loose clip. This approach was not clearly thought out or tested, imho.
      The demo mode is also a kludgy workaround. During any given day how many times might it turn on for 30 seconds at a time, or get bumped again within 30 seconds to leave it on indefinitely? Really not an elegant solution, my friend.
      Like it otherwise, though.
      I looked at Tip 2 - larger form factor than Tip SE with no gain in output or duration, old micro USB and 2-3 second pause before light comes on...also with no lockout combination. I like the magnets, although they add weight and bulk. In 2022 would expect all Nitecore electronics to be USB C. (Was very disappointed to get my Nitecore UMS-4 top-of-the-line smart charger only to find a micro USB connector - I should have read the fine print.)

    I like this light very much, but the clip is USELESS. Much appreciated would be a springy metal clip that we could buy as an extra, that would properly work. The plastic clip will work only to help lose the light. IT IS WORTHLESS.

    If you run it at 700 lumens for more then 30 minutes, I bet it will burn.

      The temperature regulation will kick in as soon as it hits 60deg, preventing it from overheating
