@@jessicajones8428 Hi Jessica. There are three things that I recommend you do, which worked for me. First, make sure you're deeply knowledgeable about the science and philosophy of this issue, so if your daughter wants to talk about it, you are ready to stand your ground. Second, draw a line in the sand: no hormones or surgeries until 18. Just delaying it for 3 years makes a massive difference. Finally, make sure your daughter is going out into the world and really living to as independent a degree as possible, as I am of the belief that experience is the best teacher. For Maia Poet, a fellow desister, her eureka moment was when she was running to the bomb shelter on Oct. 7th in Israel.
I am an older prenursing student but, today dealt with gender identity as a patient- I am female 100% at birth and in reality. I was asked if I was male or female! I said it should be obvious and refused to answer this ridiculous question. The clinician said if I didn’t state my gender- both male and female would be checked in my chart. This insanity has to stop. I am also overweight but, this issue is not addressed by my doctor which is outrageous. I don’t want to go back to this clinic because they do not have my health as their primary concern.
Thanks for having me on Ian and Scott!
Hi Simon! Any tips on helping my 15 year old understand how detrimental transitioning could be for her? She thinks she wants to a boy.
