  • NOTE 1 The Lane Keep Assist is an optional item on the passion trim that has been specified with this fortwo.
NOTE 2 The front tyres measure 165/65 R15 while the rear tyres measure 185/60 R15.
NOTE 3 The fortwo does have Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR).
Hello everyone! Today I have the 600th video on my channel and it is a video on the third generation C453 smart fortwo. The fortwo in the video is a 2015 car in passion trim. This was my second rental car in Germany after the Touareg of which the video will be the next one uploaded. Enjoy!

Very good review! I've seen no other clip with such details. Thanks for the good work.
There are a few open questions, though:
    1. It seems to be complicated to check the engine oil. Is that the case?
    2. The key has 3 buttons. What are they for?
    3. Is there enough head- and leg room for people over 180 cm?
    4. How does the heating work? Does it get warm fast or are you freezing for miles and miles?
Maybe, you could please provide some answers? Or does anybody else know?
    Best regards, Svenja

Lisa Dee Dee Oh that's too bad! My current car has a moonroof and I love driving with it open to feel the cool air on the top of my head and not have to use the air conditioner. I guess I would have to get the cabrio model then?

I'm going to sound really boring here, but that gear stick looks exactly the same as the one you get in the majority Renaults from 2005 to present. Even the car key looks the exact same to that of a Renault Clio Mk 3 and 4, just different badging:

Ive just test driven both gearboxes of the smart fortwo in a passion and prime guise and they are absolutely awful! Ive owned smarts since 2001. Do not believe the reviews you may read on the net the people are paid to review it highly. The manual is guttless in 4th gear. The automatic changes at glacial speeds and then decides to change up and down constantly when going around bends. The interior is badly designed with most things poorly located for the driver, the cup holders only hold coffee cups, the boot is smaller than the original 1998 smart fortwo. The 'bonnet' makes it look damned fugly and the loss of the rear wheel arch body panel spoils the original lines. There is less room inside in comparison to the out going model. They are overpriced and poorly designed, you have been warned! The 1.0 litre engine matched with an automatic gearbox leaves you wanting to kick it in the ditch. The glovebox is just that, a box for gloves, you wont get anything else in there. The rear wiper is tiny and doesnt effectively clear the rear window. The boot is higher than previous versions of the smart and the roof is lower. Which makes it more difficult to get things in the boot. The smart community warned Daimler about what they were designing and that they were making a mistake, but they have pushed ahead and the result is the ugliest car on the road which is overpriced, poorly designed and smaller than the outgoing model. All so they could add the god awful bonnet. There are so many faults with the cars that I cannot mention them all. Also the fuel consumption is no where near what is quoted in real life you are going to be lucky to achieve 6.5l/100km. If you want a fortwo and can work on cars get a 1st gen Smart, if you cant work on cars at all dont bother whatsoever!

+Patryk Kadzikiewicz Well, yes, I do agree that Kyle did start the whole format of reviewing cars this way, of which many people have followed on. I do follow this format as well because I think that there are not many ways that one is able to present to others a complete "video version" of a car's manual as I would like to put it. Many others and I owe it to him for starting this format.

Those headlights are so bad, I actually like the previous gen Fortwo much better because it has lenses and the fact that it resembles the current gen Mercedes CLS of that time, it even looks better.
This revamped version looks like it was redesigned by some drunk dude, and the signature 3 lug wheels has been replaced for a 4 lug one.
    Doesn't look inspiring at all.
I absolutely *HATE* the fact that they removed the diesel from the lineup, a cheaper fuel giving you 6/6 of the range compared to gasoline which is more expensive to buy and *only* gives you 4/6 of the range.
I'm going to buy a Fortwo, but I'm going for the previous one with diesel, and the reason is obvious.
Two stops to fill up 33 liter, times two with a total of 66 liter, will give me a total range from Oslo in Norway to Krakow in Poland with just about 100 euro or less with road only driving.
10 km with consuption of just 0,36...
Prove to me that something better exist, I dare you!

Unless I've missed something, these cars have a major flaw. All you need to do to unlock the bonnet/ hood is pull on two catches and lift the hood off! Unlock-able from the outside?! So, totally vulnerable! It is not a smart car, then. It is a thick as shit car.

    • @owenjones-wells9395
      @owenjones-wells9395 7 років тому

It is lockable. You pull a cover off the right hand pull tab, and insert the car key. Turn 90 degreed and it locks it in place. Reverse to unlock.
