    Such a cool vehicle. If I was in the market for a pickup, the Mitsubishi would be high on the list. They are so reliable. Thanks for a great review guys. :)

      Planet Auto yes, it sure looks the part. And it’s great to see how much they pay attention to the interior, compared the older vehicles (as with all Japanese vehicles). :)

    Was thinking the scenery looked familiar then noticed the viaduct when you were 'off-roading' through the car park opposite the chippy. like it.

    The MQ model may have now been replaced by the MR they are mechanically the same so this is still relevant. I am in Australia and own a MQ sold in Australia under the name plate Triton rather than L200 since the 1990's. The only problem I have had in 22000 kilometres is the power steering rack being replaced under warranty because of a fluid leak. The fuel consumption when not towing in often less than 7 litres per 100kms at 100kph which I consider very good for a two ton truck. The fuel consumption decreased about 0.3 litres per 100kms when I fitted a hard tonneau to the open tray. The interior noise level is also very low at highway cruising speed. The superselect2 is great for the road holding running in H4 unlocked on secondary country roads that are wet, have a rough surface or are unsealed. Other duel cab 4X4 in this segment can't do this as running H4 locked on high friction surfaces causes diff wind up which can break things. As the specs are different in various markets the upper spec Australian vehicles are even more capable off road as they also have a rear diff lock. I have found the air conditioning has been able to maintain 21c inside when the outside temp has been 45c so it is up to the task. The things that could be improved are torque below 1500 RPM when the turbo starts to spool up. The rear tail gate could have a lock on the upper spec models that are usually used recreationally for towing boats and caravans so as gear can be secured when fitted with a hard tonneau or canopy. In Australia they are rated to tow 3.1 tons this may be because vehicle makers consider Australia a hot climate market and therefore lower the rating to reduce warranty issues.

      My word you do sound a connoisseur of the L200, great sturdy pick, very dependable and interesting to hear how the hard tonneau cover helped, just the rack and under warranty, ooh a diff lock, those additions would be welcomed - thank you no_trigger

    A central diff lock does not "lock all your wheels together". If you are on a low traction surface only two of the four wheels will be locked and turning. One front wheel and one rear wheel. You need cross axle lockers as well as a center locker if you want all four wheels to turn at the same time on any surface. This L200 is available with a rear axle locker in additional to the center lock. So you can get full time "three wheel drive", but there is no front axle lock option for this pickup, so no configuration will get "all your wheels turning together" like you claim.

      @@PlanetautoUK Absolutely. Manufactures confuse this matter deliberately, so their vehicles seem more capable than they are, which doesn’t help matters. Most of their sales people would probably genuinely think that a centre difflock gives full time 4wd on all surfaces so it’s not just you who makes these sorts of errors. They also claim that the abs can brake each wheel individually which has the same effect as cross axel lockers, which is true for perhaps about 5 seconds until they overheat and the brakes are released.

    They’re NOT wing mirrors, they are DOOR mirrors !!! Wing mirrors went out in the 1980s FFS

      Scraping the bottom of the barrel Mikey 😆 it’s amazing how many big names still refer to them as wing mirrors, there’s many articles on the camera replacing the mirror, regardless you’re right, well clocked.

    Mitsubishi Now Leaving Europe and the UK would explan why the series 6 L200 is so Poor

  • @simonperry330
    @simonperry330 4 роки тому +1

    Having Now completed 125K miles in a 2016 series 5 I just cannot wait to see the back of it Endless problems with DPF recovered twice went into limp mode joining a busy M6 Not a Nice experience
    Poorer Quality everything side steps fallen to bits twice 3Rd gear Failure common problem can only tow 3.5 tons on a tri axle trailer so really 3.1 tons No rear diff lock dubious traction control gutless at low revs Paint work Mitsubishi`s ledgendary Poor Quality soft as butter falls off in lumps even being regularly washed and waxed. The vehicle has been a total Disapointment.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  4 роки тому

      Wow, interesting to hear, have Mitsubishi been supportive ? When we tested the vehicle it ran very well, capable, strong - dpf does seem to affect a lot of vehicles, we have the new one soon it’ll be interesting to how that’s built etc, thank you.
