I'm getting COOKED, I was wrong Raiden is not an elder god, I got it mixed up from mk4. He gave up the elder god power in deadly alliance. My bad 😂. Luv ye ❤

He gave it up, but then got it back, then gave it up again, then got it back. Thing is that he gives up the powers of an elder god because he's actually not allowed to interfere with Earthly matters as an Elder god, unless someone breaks the rules they set. That's why in MK9 the Elder gods didn't just kill Shao Kahn the second he invaded Earthrealm without winning a Mortal Kombat tournament. Raiden agreed to fight in that second tournament, and Shao Kahn's team did win that tournament. The only time the Elder Gods were able to do something was when Shao Kahn broke the rules and tried to conquer all the realms (the ending is a bit hazy to me). Raiden gets his elder god status back when he fights with Shinnok to my knowledge.

There’s a real reason for this.
*Red fire:* symbolizes the *“inochi”* which means to have a life beyond mortals
*Blue fire:* symbolizes the *“jinsei”* which means to have or burden the lives of many mortals
Inochi is what *corrupted* shinnok because the jinsei sensed that *he wasn’t a mortal,* the *jinsei offers power to powerless mortals* to defend earth realm *not Demi gods or elder gods* which explains why Johnny’s family won in mkx. This could also explain why raiden thought it was a good idea to combine his jinsei powers with kangs heart of fire, he knew kang was just a mortal and therefore the jinsei would *accept him* and *provide power* to him at all costs. Also that’s why kronika tried to steal the jinsei’s powers, without the jinsei then mortals wouldn’t be able to command things like fire or ice
no it’s just because he’s a demi god so some of his magic is evolved but not all which is why he has blue the hotter more potent magic and normal fire the weaker magic, until he becomes a god

So basically Liu Kang has always had Blue Flames since the beginning of when he first got his fire abilities. In one of Liu Kangs intro’s before fighting, you can see he has Blue and Yellow flames as well. And this intro in MK11 is called "Fighting Spirit". If this truly only applies to God Of Fire Liu Kang, I’m sure they would’ve named it "God Of Fire" or something like that. Meaning that even Base Liu Kang has access to this ability to use Blue Flames as well, he just never felt the need to use such power on anyone before is my theory.

My reasoning is Liu Kang and the Elder Gods forged young Raiden's amulet by imbuding his lightning powers into it. Essentially returning the power to its rightful owner.

Liu Kang (Regular) had blue fire in MK11 too. It was one of his win poses. Since MKX Liu has been able to manipulate multiple colors/forms of fire/energy.

Liu Kang's fire in MK1 is red and blue to represent more than one thinks. For one, yes its hotter changing to blue. But for two, it represents how pure his fire is now and how much wiser he's become, where as since MK11 and all games prior it was always seen as a destructive force that Liu Kang used to best his enemies in Mortal Kombat. We always see it as crude, as if produced by a young, hotheaded dragon. Now it has evolved to an elder dragon mastering its control and power over fire, tempered in a manner that allows him to use it not only for destruction, but also for purification and even construction, a tool that can destroy or rebuild. And finally its also referencing the concept of Combustion, an old chinese tale about two dragon brothers named Com and Bustion (something similar), and one breathed the red vibrant flame, and the other breathed the beautiful blue flame. When the two dragons would breathe their flame together, it could create new life, or decimate it. ( Basically it was a way of explaining how things spontaneously blew up or how things burned )

It’s simple, the lighting came from raiden making Liu Kant the god of fire AND THUNDER. Liu kang as keeper of time clearly made it so that he’s just the god of fire rather than retaining the power giving to him by raiden in addition. As the god of fire he just has access to all kinds of flame I assume. I don’t really care since it was very obvious why the lightning isn’t present without a detailed description. He’s no longer the god of fire and thunder and just the god of fire 🤷🏾♂️.

The blue fire represents when the gods gifted liu kang with raidens immortality when Shao Khan defeated Raiden in the MK tournament.
Why wonder when he said eons, he's definitely vastly more stronger than any liu kang variant and probably trained to a degree his flames progressively became blue, because he reshaped the realms in a different order and gave raiden a mortal body but gave his lightning back. Some characters even mention him giving up his powers which would probably refer to raiden since he only controls timelines(no more) fire(kept) lightning(gave back to raiden) and kept his elder god title it seems. Because sindel questions Geras on Liu knowing who really killed jerrod and he refuses to answer the question.
A lot of people missed the part where he gave raiden an amulet containing his lightning powers. I think he straight up gave them up cause he planned on raiden being champion anyways but we have seen lightning kung Lao so maybe he was just giving the power that wasn’t his to whoever he felt deserved it?
Respectfully in mk11 Lui Kang had an intro with him with both red and blue fire nrs was giving us an Easter egg and we didn't notice
Let’s put a perspective to this portrayal of our new protector. Since he is also a keeper of time he probably still practices the lessons he was taught with Geras even though he decided to nerf himself to better suit the role of fire god. His life revolves around duty and personal sacrifice, all for the sake of a better timeline for friends and allies.
I think it represents how he was superpowerful after defeating kronika and shang sung he had the power of a gods but chose not keep it and decided not to interfere with good or evil showing his yen and yang or balance between good and evil
The blue flames represent his mastery over fire, and his ascension to godhood, while the orange flames represent his humanity and humbleness in spite of his great power.

Fun fact: Actually fire doesn't burn blue when it's hotter. Yes blue flames are hotter than orange but they tend to be gas flames such as Ethanol. It actually depends on the fuel whether or not a flame is blue as well as other factors such as the oxygen present
I thought it was the lightning changing to fit Lui Kang's character, like it recognized he was a fire user and so changed itself to fit him better, especially over the eons that he gained more control and wisdom.

I believe at first he had lighting cuz he’d just gotten the power and didn’t know how to control it and make it his own, but after having it for eons obviously he knows how to control it completely, plus he proabably wanted more fire over lighting as fire is his thing

Imo, this version of Lui Kang is the embodiment of the relationship between him and Kung Lao. The two dragons, representing each of themselves respectively, with their red and blue colors. In this Lui Kang, it is the balance of what the power would be, if the two of them combined as one.
That, and probably cuz raiden was still being added, and liu kang is supposed to be a FIRE god, not a fire and lighting god. Plus, even in MK11 he didn't have any thunder moves for the brief time you played fire god liu kang.
