    This is the 1st in many 5G explation vids I've watched where 5G-NR is explained really well.
    Thank You.
    I do think the USA MNOs / Mobile Network Operators have caused much confusion over 3G vs 4G tech. Officially 3G is HSPA+ & 4G is LTE. Yes HSPA can in theory reach a max of 75mbps Dwnload, but it's wrong that the U.S MNOs refer to HSPA as 4G. My point is, hope they don't mash 5G-NR.

    Those speeds will not really matter most of the time because it's only as fast as your content provider can upload the content to your phone. So the point I'm making is that if Netflix is experiencing heavy traffic or your bank or UA-cam you aren't going to be able to watch the videos or use services any faster than you already are.

      Commerce/$$$ has always been more important to Americans than any health concerns. With a 5g phone if you have your finger or palm in the wrong place it greatly blocks/slows the 5g signal That signal does not just go away. YOU absorb it into your body. It has been known that mobile towers since the late 80s are a huge health issue, however when there are hundreds of billions of dollars involved you and your cancer are not a real issue to care about.

    It is unbelievable how internet changes so fast. Every time I go to my home town I remember my first PC and first internet. It was a cable internet, on standard CAT5 cables, going only with 4KB/s. It was a nightmare to download a game or a movie. Now, 15 years later, I no longer live in my home town but I only go to visit my mother. So I have to use my 4G connection. Which allows me to use speeds up to 50 mbps. That probably means the end of the typical internet provider. No longer the customer will need cable connection. And only the telecoms will provide internet. Which is bad because now in my town there are 20 internet providers and in 10 years time there will be probably only 3 - the telecoms. Much easier to control data and people ...

      @Spinler Muckflitt no it's not friend. There is more to it then just frequency. The frequency being used for 5G is still far to low to be ionizing. On top of that the energy being pumped into it matters. There's a reason that your home router can operate at 2.4Ghz/ 5Ghz and be safe to be exposed to while your microwave which operates on the same frequency can cook food.

    The signal won't make it through a sheet of paper, let alone trees/buildings in most cases. Such frequencies are better suited to link towers that can't otherwise be hardwired. This is because high frequencies need a line of sight and are fussy otherwise, a tower makes this easy. Problem is that your handset isn't going to have this usually. Plus, your mobile would have to transmit back to the base station at lower frequencies(2.5Ghz for ex) like, otherwise your battery would die quickly.

      Tadreik Campbell PM in telecom, here. Actually, your comment is even more invalid and ignorant. 5g is going to cost the mobile industry roughly $200 billion when it's all said and done. Then, you have to consider that most people will have to buy a 5g compatible device. After that, you have to account for the fact that a high frequency 5g radio doesn't work with tall, cellular towers. So, all of the carriers will have to transition to smaller cell clusters. When you consider everything that it takes to make that "under $30" chip viable in mobile, the cost that the carrier will pass to the consumer will be high. Therefore, OP's comment is spot on in that not everyone will be able to afford it. Please do your homework before making some general statement about the cost of chipsets and not accounting for all the costs to get that chip to even work properly.

      flames 8889 Read his comment again. He specifically mentions companies selling this 'stuff' to consumers. This 'stuff', people will be able to afford it just as they can afford an $800 phone today. You took everything out of context talking about the bigger picture. This comment is about what people can afford, not how much the companies will spend over time.

    • @exquizit_d
      @exquizit_d 5 років тому

      Tadreik Campbell You're right in that many people can afford an $800 device. However, many more cannot. Not everyone will have the money to buy ever-improving devices (i.e. a Samsung Galaxy phone that isn't 5g compatible and then buying up to a 5g compatible phone). These companies are going to pass these costs to the consumer, assuming their government doesn't offer up some kind of subsidy or other benefit to the carriers.

    the Federal Communication Commission will not roll out any safety procedures that is custom to all generations of mobile networking. And these bands are definitely more harmful, the frequency these antenna put out are higher, meaning they are easily absorbed in sold objects like your human tissue. The only reason cellular companies are excited is because it will bring in billions to their revenue, no economic value to the citizens or small businesses. Plus the difference in speed will go unnoticed by probably everyone.

    I really don't understand why we cannot just reallocate the FM band - how many people listen to radio anymore anyway? FM bands (Mhz range) have far fewer restrictions for distance and physical barriers and it's a huge range that the old radio people are squatting on and hardly utilizing. 5G has a lot of problems to overcome and not much point of using it inside anyway - just use a wired connection, or soon, LiFi (coming soon and much faster than 5G). EDIT: see important further research in my reply.

    • @domassemenas4729
      @domassemenas4729 5 років тому +7

      Although these waves are long range, they are impractical to use for fast connections. The longer the range, the lower the bandwidth. Think about satellites, they take minutes to upload a single photo due to long distances.

    • @RIPHitchens
      @RIPHitchens 5 років тому +2

      FM bands have much lower frequency, which means longer wavelength, which is why they travel long distances. But data rates are directly proportional to frequency, so they can't carry more information than a voice encoded signal. 1G cellular connections were already of much higher frequency than FM radio, we've come a long way. Also onto LiFi, my bet is it will not get out of the lab. You know why? Because your own hand's shadow will stop the connection, that's why. Also it can't solve the hidden node problem. Source : EE Engineer, work at Qualcomm

    • @PhilosopherRex
      @PhilosopherRex 5 років тому

      It is true that data rates can grow linearly with frequency rate and give a theoretical maximum ... but data rates are also affected by signal to noise. FM band is cleaner at longer distances - so actual data rates by frequency are not cut and dry. But all of this is too basic. After doing some research it seems the spectrum for 5G will be extremely broad - vastly more than FM range (10.85 GHz of spectrum according to FCC) - and it's different multiplexing will allow shared spectrum use as well - so may be able to use 3G and 4G spectrum simultaneously -- I don't think that is on the table ATM, but maybe in the future. So all told, I can agree that the data throughput for 5G will be massive. However ... LiFi is still a much better option for in-building communication as it is even more secure (more easily blocked) and it's data throughput is much greater again - it can achieve approximately 1000 times the data density of Wi-Fi. Of course the 5G'ers, not to be outdone, are just going to claim that LiFi is merely 'another form of 5G' ... not true though - very different tech. They can still complement each other though with 5G doing the longer hops and LiFi for small hops in buildings.

    If there was even a remote chance of radiation, the higher frequency wave means it actualy penetrates even less.
    Yes yes i hear the comment "oh but its higher frequency means it has high energy" well right, but it also uses much more energy to go through objects, its why we use low 1.2ghz frequencies for long range uav gear or around towns, and only ever switching to 5.8 when were in a open field with no obstuctions or no plans to go farther than 1 mile. Higher frequencies just dont have the penetrating ability, they just dont.

      @4thworldwilderness390 5 років тому

      @@Dgeigerd straight from wikipedia:
      "The energy of particles of non-ionizing radiation is low, and instead of producing charged ions when passing through matter, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation has only sufficient energy to *change the rotational, vibrational or electronic valence configurations of molecules and atoms.* This produces thermal effects. The possible non-thermal effects of non-ionizing forms of radiation on living tissue *have only recently been studied.* Much of the current debate is about relatively low levels of exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation from mobile phones and base stations producing "non-thermal" effects. Some experiments have suggested that there may be biological effects at non-thermal exposure levels, but the evidence for production of health hazard is contradictory and unproven. The scientific community and international bodies acknowledge that *further research is needed* to improve our understanding in some areas."
      having absolutely zero effect on biological matter is not correct, just to what extent it affects it is unknown as of yet. To me, that's leaving too much unaccounted for. Let alone all of the real world cases in rising brain cancer rates, especially in those who work closely around cell towers and anyone who is electromagneticly hypersensitive. Question everything, especially what government funded institutions claim.

    • @Dgeigerd
      @Dgeigerd 5 років тому

      @@4thworldwilderness390 government has nothing to do with this. Non ionized radiation can heat your body. But a cellphone can do only a few milliwatts. This is nothing. And i said it "can't really" damage a human. A radio tower does have more watts and it is getting warm in your body when you are about 10m or closer to the tower when it is a very powerful tower. Thats why workers are only allowed to work 15-30minutes on high power radio towers. But normally, like in cities, there are much more towers everywhere and so they are really low power. Do you know the placebo or nocebo effect? That is what can cause cancer. Not heat. The sun is way more dangerous than a radio tower. In Germany they built a radio tower and all the people started complaining about having bad headaches and everything is hurting. Fun Fact: The radio tower wasn't even powered on. It was just a piece of metal standing around at this time. This is called nocebo effect. Think about it.
