By the by, and I think I've commented this in a previous video but I'm going to do it again anyways, there are these two fun movies I'd love to see you react to! If you ever want to react to gorgeous animated films not made by Disney or Dreamworks, please do consider "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole" or "Wolfwalkers". The first one's this beautiful 3d-animated film about owls released way back in 2010. Still holds up despite its age visually. The second movie is this brilliantly unique 2D animation released just last 2020; it doesn't get as much attention as I think it deserves.

To touch on what you said in the beginning, in the Bible the story of Joseph is the explanation for why the Hebrews were in Egypt during Moses' time. Though it was generations later so the Pharoah didn't really know or care about Joseph's contributions to the kingdoms

For some historical context it’s worth nothing that Egypt had two dynasties ruling the territory. The lower kingdom housed the Hyksos Dynasty, these were semantic people who had invaded Egypt from Mesopotamia. Hence why Joseph was more than likely able to rise up the ranks due to the cultural and perhaps even linguistic similarities. Eventually the Upper Kingdom dynasty will reclaim the territory and force the Hyksos out of Egypt, hence the Pharaoh who does not of Joseph and mistreats/enslaves the Hebrews due to their connection to the Hyksos.

The interesting thing is that Jacob, in his youth, stole his father’s blessing from his older brother, and his older brother, Esau, wanted to kill him for stealing his blessing. To know why Jacob values Joseph above all his other sons, you have to know his story.
Jacob was in love with a woman named Rachel. He had made an arrangement with her father to marry her, but he was tricked into marrying Rachel's older sister Leah before he was allowed to marry Rachel.

@@minminygyg Yes, Leah was very jealous of Rachel. The Bible describes Rachel as being very beautiful and Leah being not so much. It literally says she had eyes like a cow.
Leah prayed to God to make Jacob love her and so he made Rachel barren and Leah extremely fertile. This led to Rachel becoming jealous of Leah because Leah could give Jacob children.
It started a competition to see which wife could bear the most children and therfore be most deserving of thier husbands love. So Rachel gets Jacob to impregnate her handmaid and counts those kids as hers, but then Leah just does the same thing and pulls back into the lead. Eventually God answers Rachel's prayers to lift the curse he put on her and she has Joseph, who is clearly Jacob's favorite kid.
However, the other 12 sons descendants became the 12 tribes of Israel with Judah's lineage producing legendary figures such as David, Solomon, and Jesus.

Josefs birth family is the ancestors to Moses birth family.
The Bible tells us that the Pharaoh allowed Joseph to bring Jacob and his family to Egypt, where he took care of them. Generations later, Moses was to lead the descendents of Jacob out of slavery and Egypt to their promised land. Among the items that Moses brought from Egypt were the bones of his predecessor, Joseph.

The brothers regreted their actions, they asked for forgiveness and they changed their behaviour (protecting Benjamin). I believe that is key for forgiveness. He didnt just forgive them.
Here are a couple of things why I think Joseph forgave them.
0.5 Jesus teaches us something else. Hmmm... Something about forgiveness ( Matthew 18:22-22) obviously Joseph didn't knew about Jesus. 😂 But God doesn't change and this is what God always intended.
      1. Why shouldn't Joseph forgive someone who asked forgiveness and has changed? Why hold that grudge??
      2. It's had been about 20 years.
      3. Joseph had the gift of forgiveness. I think it is really beautiful. Also he gives them a second change. (They are family after all).
      4. Don't people deserve a second chance?
(Not really part of the forgiveness but 5. Joseph understood why his brothers were so angry and he saw the part he played in it. (this is not to excuse the brothers actions)
I mean no offence. 😂 I just think that this would be Joseph's point of view

17:14 They wonderfully toned this down for kids, but in the Bible this is much darker.
In the movie, she wants affection from Joseph, and he refuses to flirt since she's his master's wife. She accuses him of trying to hurt her(like beat her or something).
In Genesis chapter 39, Potiphar's Wife wants to have sex with Joseph and asks him numerous times. He refuses for the same reason. When the anger fumes her too much, she accuses him of RAPING her, and that gets him imprisoned.
Kids hear this story in Sunday School, but they are usually just told "Potiphar's wife wanted to date him" or something tame like that. And he was accused of harm. That's how we tone it down for kids.

I remember watching this as a child and even then I thought that Jacob's overt favoritism for Joseph was a bit much. Granted, at the time I hadn't gotten the memo that they thought Rachel was barren. But still. Also Joseph's enslavement scene always made me feel reasonably uncomfortable, even if I didn't fully grasp why at the time.

20:42 I wrote this on the comment section of this song, but I need to put it here:
When I was 14, about 7 years ago, I went through some abuse and neglect. Months later, I got PTSD from it and wondered-why God let it happen to me? And why did my parents not get punished(no jail time)?
Also, a couple of years ago my sister passed away and I wondered why that had to happen.
I have had a lot of hard times in my life, and I wondered, why is God putting me through all of this?
I heard this song and later sang it while taking a walk. It's been so healing for me. I still sing it when doing chores, walking, or when i need healing again. And it helps in this coronovirus crisis.
Whenever I feel that anger, I remember this song and no longer feel that way. I still don't know why God's plan for me contained all of that, but I do know that one day I will.
