No contest. Takako Fuji is irreplaceable. Not only did she look the creepiest, but she also sounded the creepiest. She is what made Kayako Saeki the terrifying ghostly entity she is, and no other Japanese actress was able to replicate that unnerving sense of horror that Takako exuded.
Yes, she's awesome. she's scary, creepy and terrifying. In the 2020 remake I swear to god that the actress that played the vengeful ghost looks exactly like her but in Japan everyone looks similar hehehehe. In the crossover with Sadako, the actress that played her also looked similar to the original but it's not her but there were rumors that Takako was planning to return in that movie but never happened.
I think Takako Fuji isn't given enough credit for making Kayako as creepy, but entrancing as she is. She made Kayako iconic and all other actresses are subpar at best
@@죄악범규 yes!!!! Theres more to Kayako than just making noises. Takako knew how to move her body, the tone of her sounds invoke mood and she was expressive with her face.

Takako Fuju is clearly best, she's actually creepy. The other ones overact and it goes into unintentional comedy. Although Runa Endo in Sadako vs Kayako does come close. Same actually goes for Elly Nanami as Sadako in said movie.
What people don’t give Takako Fuji enough credit for his how much she did unedited. So many of her stunts and scenes were done without effects, or at least with minimal ones. Much of the jerking is all in real time, and Sarah Michelle Gellar said in behind the scenes footage on The Grudge DVDs that she did the staircase scene with no wires. She’s truly one of a kind
She was a bit tired of the character and she said sometimes doesn't felt motivated she wanted to do other things. Her last appearance was in the sequel of the american remake The Grudge 2
@@blancarosales3400 I can understand she got tired of playing as Kayako after the Grudge 2, though I didn't realize how tired until I saw the japanese films after the first remake. That's but beautiful, but irreplaceable talent there that terrified me growing up no other Japanese actress had yet to duplicate since. So I respect now Takako's days as Kayako are over, but the time she was is timeless as Ju-on's spirit in my book.
She also decided to retire of playing the character of Kayako Saeki mainly because she was feeling uncomfortable by the sense that she had to be always in the floor crawling she said it was bad for her back to continue doing it, she mainly risk her body health to do the performance of the character as right as we see it today.
That under-the-blanket scare from Ju-On: The Grudge is exactly how jump scares SHOULD be done. They shouldn’t be some in your face screaming entity with a high pitched musical sting, it should be built up with tension, have a character’s reaction and then reveal. Its like what Junji Ito does with a lot of the scarier moments in his manga. Its PERFECT.
Takako Fujis performance gave me nightmares as a kid. She was perfect as Kayako Saeki. That "under the blanket" scene always scared the crap out of me.
Takako Fuji is definitely the most scary of all. She has this way of moving very creepy : slow, disarticulated, and no matter what happens, she keeps staring at you with her empty eyes, without a blink ! Also, the guttural sound is more deep and scary for her Kayako (is she doing it or is a sound effect ? Idk but others are less scary).
Agreed. She made the part her own; she *is* Kayako Saeki, just like Robert Englund *is* Freddy Krueger.. No, director Takashi Shimizu makes that croaking sound himself.
I think the old woman in ju on white ghost kinda creepy(if she not holding the basketball),kayako in sadako vs kayako kinda creepy, misaki saisho is not scary but okay, while aiko horiuchi should be in scary movie😂
That is awesome sir! This was a great video and I really enjoyed it. One thing to keep in mind for the next one, the clip you have for Ju-On: The Curse 2 is of the character Kyoko, not Kayako. In this seen, Kyoko has been driven mad by seeing the murder of Kobayashi's wife and baby daughter. There is a great scene, However, at the end of this one where Kyoko's nephew is chased down in his school by multiple Kayakos that could be used for a video like this. Thanks again, and I look forward to the next one!
Almost all horror movies a ghost or evil has concious or some humanity But this is just evil. Nothing left but anger and vengeance, no compassion or shit to say or do to stop her. Its like Michael but he has feelings but Kayako, her concious is dead, its just the anger in her thats left. And thats whats fuckin scary, nothin you can do
It's incredible how such a beautiful, sweet sounding, gentle behaving actress (Seriously, watch her in interviews, she appears almost timid) portrayed one of the scariest horror icons in all of film. Takako Fuji is as irreplaceable for Kayako as Robert Englund is for Freddy Krueger imo, there's just something about her style that none of the other actresses have been able to fully replicate. There's an entrancing, almost seductive aspect she gives to Kayako (though that may simply be my own bias, since Takako was one of my celebrity crushes). Yes, even when she's covered in blood. According to interviews, it was actually director Takashi Shimizu who taught her Kayako's infamous disjointed body language and she claims he's better at it than she was in her physical prime. BTS clips of them practicing are hard to find, but fascinating. Fuji joked that she'd occasionally do the routine for friends, but they stopped her because she was too scary (even without the makeup). 😂 It's understandable why she retired from the role after 2006's *The Grudge 2,* she obviously couldn't do it forever but the franchise (Japanese and American) hasn't been the same without her.
@@sadasela Yes, she commented in an interview before (I forget exactly which, haven't been able to find the source) about how she'd grown fatigued of the character: *"Takako Fuji stated in an interview while filming The Grudge 2 (the sixth time she played the character) that, at that time, she already felt 'difficult sometimes to keep up the motivation, because I've played her so many times'."* Link: ju-on-the-grudge.fandom.com/wiki/Kayako_Saeki Her passing the role on to Aiko Horiuchi for *The Grudge 3* and absence from future *Juon* entries was partially from wanting to avoid tyepcasting and do other things. Everyone who worked with her cited her kindness, and Shimizu knew how grateful she was for her success. The whole routine had simply gotten too repetitive & mechanical. As you said, another (I think, larger) reason was the performance's physical strain. She'd mentioned before how the crawling was increasingly difficult for her back as the films went on. Her body language as Kayako is a lot more physically demanding than it looks. The makeup had also started to wear on her, taking two hours to apply every shooting day for *The Grudge 2.*
It's like, every time I see one of those movies I think "who many times she can do that without being sick of it?" It just seems to be kinda painful and repetitive. I mean, de Stairs scene it happens in almost every movie
She also said that she would only ever play Kayako if Shimizu was directing. He didn’t return for the third film, I imagine he and Fuji were burnt out. Those two, and Takashi Matsuyama as Takeo are what made Ju On so special and terrifying.
Takako Fuji is my favorite. Ju on the curse was the creepiest. It was so raw and Takeo was beyond brutal. Ju on white ghost was my second favorite as it was very disturbing too. I would like to watch a movie that shows the end of the curse. But it seems like the world 's end will come because of those onryōs 😂
I do feel the need to elaborate here.. Takeo's murder spree is significantly toned down in the American remakes. Originally, he not only snapped Kayako's neck as that didn't kill her. He finished her off by slowly stabbing her to death with a box cutter. After which he slit Mar the cat's throat and drowned Toshio in the bathtub. Then he went over to Kobayashi's house, killed his pregnant wife and cut out the fetus kept it in a bag and continually smashed it. Then he called Kobayashi from a payphone and gloated about it, before he was killed in the middle of the street by Kayako's Onryo.. It's not really all that graphic and much is left to the imagination. But it *is* more cruel, vicious and bloody nonetheless. The American remakes are tamer due to leaving a lot of this out. Wonder why, really? Ironic, because these remakes have been criticized for trying to be "gorier than the originals". Wonder if those who claim that were watching Ringu and couldn't tell the difference..
That possessed Kyoko is one of the most terrifying scenes I've ever come across. The whole setting being so dark, with her parents both lying dead there, seeing a pale woman dressed in white staring into space and rocking back and forth. Furthermore, she was rocking progressively harder.
Takako Fuji is by far the best, she portrayed Kayako Saeki unlike any actress has ever been able to, she embodies the character and her acting resonated with us on a level unseen in ANY horror film i have EVER seen. Kayako is to me my favorite and scariest Horror Movie monster/ghost of all time and its because of Takako Fuji brilliant acting that i can love and fear her as Kayako
I'm not sure if Kyoko (Ju-on: the Curse) should be there as there's no way to tell if she was really possessed and then 'replaced' by Kayako - it's hard to see (it could be just her normal actress - Yūko Daike seen in really dim light) and she could as well have been possessed by Nanami, as it's in her flat and not Kayako's house that the curse affected Kyoko the most. Haru (Ju-on: the White Ghost) should not be featured as well, as she's definitely not Kayako - it's completely different house, completely different family and completely different curse. By the way, Haru was played by Akiko Hoshino. Misaki Saisho played Kayako not only in Ju-on: the Final, but also in Ju-on: Beginning of the End, which was not featured in the video. The actress to play Kayako in Sadako vs. Kayako was Runa Endo (appears in the credit roll between Sadako and Toshio as '伽椰子 遠藤留奈').
Ju-On 2 (2003) had the best Kayako. Takako had perfected the role, and the make-up department went a extra mile by making her look more mutilated and bloody.
