I hung out with my dad years ago when he flew his RC planes with his club. I don’t recall anyone ever laughing when someone crashed, even though I remember thinking some of the crashes were hysterically funny. Looks like the Brits are good with doing what everyone was probably wanting to do in my dad’s RC club. Good on them for having a sense of humor.
thanks karl, we do have a great sense of humor over here, some times we dont laugh out of respect (lot of money involved or hours spent building etc) other times its just so damned funny we cant help but piss ourselves laughing, all part of the sport m8
tbobborap1 The hobby must be huge in the UK. Amazing what you are putting in the air! 1/3 scale beasts, turbo jets! Just incredible. I don’t believe I’ll ever take up the hobby, but the videos have provided me with a lot of nostalgic entertainment.
I love that off-camera observation on the first clip (the immaculate, wheels-up deadstick landing): "He's quite good, isn't he. Did you teach him everything, Pete?" DEEEEEEEEEANOOOOOO! :-)
I have a 3D capable heli and mounted a G meter to it once doing full speed straight down and the pitch up 100% It pulled something around 70G and I had to replace the main rotor blades because are there were hair cracks in the carbon fiber Friend of mine did it with a bigger 600 size heli (mine is a MCBx Bl from horizon, I wouldn’t want to risk my big one) and it simply tore off the rotor head while the body continued to belly flop into the grass He had to replace the chassis, but most of the electronics were fine since the straight down crash got cushionned by the dual 6s at bottom
A bit different to when my old dad (rip) used to fly his planes. His first radio control was a magregor super egen single channel that he managed to control the rudder, elevators and engine with. His last flight was unique had never been done before. His ashes were scattered in his favourite flying spot by a RC helicopter a flying colleague had purposely built for the occasion.
That B2 02:30 is amazing. They got it to fly stable without a $100 million dollar computer making hundreds of control corrections a minute. That's really impressive.
I was curious too.,, They are making gyros for boats now , piss poor design will be compensated with gyro. The thing is , will the boat hull take the stress .
I don't, a lot of these landings are fairly common and these guys usually don't fuss about their planes being destroyed because part of the hobby is rebuilding you broken planes.
Thobborap you make the flight line so much fun in the true spirit of what model flying is all about, crashes and all you are there to record the carnage !
Man that is the greatest crash!! You are so lucky LOL! And what a camera you have man that thing is crystal clear and stable! You will never top that crash haha thanks!
3:00 Bomber pilots actually had to land with that kind of damage sometimes. With those ones that were belly landings, like the one at the start, bravo, you brought it down intact
Looks like a fun hobby to watch. I’d never be able to fly can barely fly a lil drone, also WOULD 100 percent love to see a b2 going just under supersonic in real life if it moved faster irl it would be hella scary
at my flying field we do different plane sessions like high wings or jets and during a jet session a f-4 speared a f-16 completely destroying it and the f-4 only damaged the canopy a little, f-4 was down for the rest of the day f-16 with some glue was back up in like half an hour
It's extremely difficult to watch these videos, having built many RC cars, planes and helicopters, and crashed a few. I know just how much time and effort goes into these kits. My hat is off to those who have lost their built aircraft or vehicles.
@@Luci_the_Demon well if there are any professional dumbasses here its gotta be you. You act all smart by correcting them ItS a WaRhAwk like bitch its basic history kid. Edit:spelling errors
My favorite personal crash was when I pancaked a balsa slope glider. The Monokote covering stayed intact while all of the internal framing was shattered. I could have just rolled the ex-plane up and put it in a bag. Real world: Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. Model world: Some 'landings' you just have to walk away from.
You can tell professional flyers from the rest, because they'll always do a counter clockwise traffic pattern before and give themselves room on a their final approach. Beginners and Intermediates turn in too quick and force themselves to drop and land in too short a space with almost ZERO glide in. Zoom, turn, nose down to runway, bounce bounce bounce crash.
Had a nitro truck once and half the fun was rebuilding(not paying for rebuild) guess its the same for the airboys there. maybe not for the one who got his tail snipped and rapid landing. guess he was pretty pissed off:P
This is why I prefer small electric models and calm days for flying. The models are easy to repair incase anything DOES happen, electric motors rarely ever fail in flight and if there's no wind the only one who can mess up a landing is the one at the sticks. And I've done some landings where my plane's wheels basically KISSED the ground. That's not to say I wouldn't trust myself with flying one of the biggies. Their size makes them much less twitchy and thus easier to fly while up in the air, but of course their sluggishness means they're not as forgiving if u do something wrong during take-off or landing.
It doesn't matter how long you've flown RC, or how good you get. 90% of the damage your planes will receive in your lifetime will be from landing, one way or another. Humans just aren't perfect every time. Good times!
I'd be quite pissed about something like 4:20 if someone crashed into me. Otherwise it's amazing how closely the crashes resemble the full size planes.
The "saves" are more pleasing to watch than the crashes, if I'm honest. So much lost time and money ... Condolences to the owners. Thanks for sharing.

Funny how most of the take-off and landing mishaps are tail draggers.
