Kenan Thompson is like a time traveler. He shows up in sketches from decades ago looking exactly the same.
ianbob the only difference is he lost a ton of weight recently.

@@rolivas303 you're absolutely correct, he is a LEGEND when it comes to being forcefed into skits. He detracts from every skit he's in.
@Darrell Williams it's obviously all a matter of opinion but I believe I'm in good company when I say he's better suited for Nickelodeon than he is SNL.
Kudos to the wig department. They should have a SNL line of wigs.
The installations are what make them work so well!

I really liked the music. Rainn actually took the skits seriously instead of reading it from the cue cards. He is a good actor!!

I love that the harp player starts all the songs in a different nebulous place, like somewhere in the middle, and they all know exactly what to play.

It's actually 13 years old (as of 2020)... the skit is from 2007, posted in 2013. And agree, it's classic. They could do an entire series of "angry New Age ______" skits.

Sounds like Shadowfax, they were my favorite New Age band I think. The band was really tight, more jazzy and soulful than some of the airy fairy stuff like Enya.
Id say this skit was Freds idea, his keyboard moves were hilarious
Steve E. Brown - yes, it has Fred the musician satirist written all over it. I love all the overblown musician posturing, especially the way the harp player touches his precious hair all the time and Fred’s spastic keyboard moves.

Why are we not talking about Fred Armisen's aggressive keyboard playing? For me it stole the whole scene. And shout out to the musical directors for the very accurate new age tunes 😂
The very start, where Fred Armisen is rocking the keyboard, made me lose it immediately. Not even one second into it, and I was rolling. Something about that guy just makes me laugh.
He probably wrote it.
I love how he just says "from somewhere in the middle," because it makes no difference if they start at the same place 🤣

If there is a sketch where someone plays an instrument, Fred is going to be involved.
Funny how the music doesn't involve the keyboard but Fred's still pretending to play it.
Keyboards can emulate a ton of different instruments.

I think the most "real " thing here was how he channeled all the negativity in by his sick pep talk. They didn't even look like they HAD a problem until the harp leader talked.
"I just wanted to remind Haseem that we're playing for real now". I love that she's saying this, even though she wasn't actually touching her bongos.

If you found yourself thinking, "I wish this was a real album", check out "Down to the Moon" by Andreas Vollenweider. Several of the songs here sound similar to songs on that album.
I'd buy their album if it was real. One of my fave SNL skits. Pretty real depiction of many bands' inner friction
