- We’re finally meeting back up with Alex and Emma from The Travel Beans!!! While things didn’t go as planned last time we hung out, we’re finally both on the road with working RVs. 😅 So we decided to swap rigs for the night and compare their vintage, 1998 camper van to our brand new, 2022 travel trailer.

Truth. But we're still staying optimistic that we'll get Clementine's engine fixed up once and for all and can get back to traveling in the old gal 🤞🤞
Boil the water for the Pasta first using a kettle or the microwave A lot easier than those small burners .As for the shower taking a connection outside the van to a shower tent would be possible in warmer weather We never used our shower in all the years we had a motorhome or Trailer . Most sites have showers for free
I was in love with the Beans’ classic till I saw the wet bath….
Definitely a deal breaker
There are class B (+) vans that have roomy, spacious bathrooms in the back and they span the width of the van….
Some are better than others
I’ve seen Born Frees that have a few floor plans that feature a rear bathroom
I love the idea of having an all-in-one. Not having to deal with towing seems like a great way to avoid headaches. The cost of rent in Denver [CO in all] is making me really consider the van/tiny home life. I’m an Uber driver so I’m thinking I’d probably get a small plot of land outside of town to have a place to park/live long term. I love the vlogs, keep up the great work and stay safe!!
do some research on solar panels with converter charger on whatever you plan on. and of course the wi-fi booster.
Re parking on your own property, be sure you check out regulations re State, county and city, even some HOAs
I think the opposite. I think having another vehicle you can unhook and go places like the supermarket or a national park without having to pack everything is really nice.
Towing a trailer means that you don’t have to worry about a dingy and if one component breaks down you still have a place to live and/or drive. When a single unit goes down (and it will) you are up the creek.

I hate to say it, because I love Clementine, but maybe you should consider selling her for a more modern RV/Camper. Vintage vehicles are great, but they always require some mechanical knowledge to keep them going. If you don't have that knowledge, then you're going to be in-and-out of shops, dropping hugs amounts of cash. The whole point of a road trip is to have fun and continually dealing with engine troubles is never fun. just my two cents. 😊

I didn't realise that Phoenix hasca shower! Yes, a little impractical with the shower curtain, but wondering what could be done with two retractable screens! Maybe not enough room to install... I do really love their camper, although weird that you couldn't boil the pasta on the stove.

Great video! Loved every minute of it! Your reaction to the van was (in my opinion) very honest
and insightful and when in comes to a simple comparison your "trailer" is a beast of its own when it comes to "living and luxury"! If there was a chance I´d always rent a pickup and your trailer for a couple of weeks to drive from camping ground to camping ground, but at the end of the day I would prefer the RV from the beans to travel long distances and stay "out in the wilderness" and at lonely places. At the end of the day I´m just a simple man with a girlfriend and we both like to travel, spend the night in a halfway comfy bed, have some breakfast and get out to explore the surroundings for at least 12 hours or even more at places where hardly any people are next to us.
I would definitely prefer a RV that gives you more opportunities to reach way more places then your awesome pickup/trailer combination, but I am just a "simple guy" that would always trade "comfortableness" for "Adventure"! Nevertheless great video and tumbs up as always!
We definitely understand that. We loved how easy it was to drive their van. While our setup can technically go anywhere since the truck and trailer are both off-road capable, it's much easier maneuvering in a small van. And theirs was actually surprisingly spacious and comfy inside...other than the fly infestation and the huge lump in the bed 🤣 Hope you and the gf enjoy many adventures together!

Hi Guys, good to see your vlog, as usual, love all of your travel to different countries and in the RV's. If I was back in my 20's, I would definitely do this for a couple of years or more (I'm 60 now, a tad bit old now lol). Enjoy your life and travels. Stay safe xx.

Never too old. We've just cycled nearly 3000 kms around Europe, sleeping in a tent. Our campervan feels like luxury after that trip. If it's what you want to do, give it a go 🙂

A little trivia; I wonder what came of the van owner's issue with noises at night in their rig, thinking maybe mice or something. If any died in the rig it would of course smell bad but also house a vast number of new flies Maybe that is where the "infestation" came from...
we never did find out if they caught the mouse...

I've been waiting for this meet up! The joining of two channels that I subscribe to! But I'm sad that it was so short. I had visions of you guys traveling all around the USA together, and getting 2 perspectives for every stop. I was so looking forward to that! Oh well. Don't worry! We have plans to reconnect later in the year. We just had these international plans we couldn't break and the Beans have to get back to the UK in a couple weeks to sort visa stuff. We'll reunite (for much longer) at some point!

Phoenix looks like a brilliant van - it’s very cool. The Beans have a winner with that one - that shower design is ingenious- even if it probably takes a very, very careful effort.
Making friends with your rv is why I got mine RV, still working on getting it on the road soon. Glad you both got back together and some fun.

@@RaXXha oh ok thank you. Dang it, it’s so hard to find a reputable mechanic to do an engine job correctly. I’ve had a bad experience with that myself 🤦🏻♂️. I would never do it again unless I did it myself. Honestly I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of anyone swapping and having a positive experience.
Edit*** AI take that back my friend just had an engine pit in his 83 Blazer and it went well, but still that’s only one outta like 4 that I know of 🤦🏻♂️
