I’m so sad to be a young fan of this band. Anyone irl that I’ve talked to (that’s also a fan) is way older than me, like they have kids my age and older. They were alive and blessed enough to have attended a concert or two, while I have to live knowing they’ll never have another concert again. Danny Elfman said so, because of his hearing. F in the chat for young Boingo fans 🥲
Now this is so much worse, I had no idea they were never going to perform again?? No matter how much I bug my friends, I just can't push them to fully become fans or anything AGHHH I RELATE TO THIS SO MUCH!! F :(
@@EmmanentDanger couple weeks ago I was helping setup for my school dance, I had to blow up a shit ton of balloons. Tbh, I actually consider it really lucky that we have access to the demos, unreleased tracks and you can find a live show from pretty much every era of the band. It's not a struggle but I would appreciate officially released mixes of these songs.
I read your comment several times - and yeah - I realized you are 100% correct. They were my holy grail when tape trading / napster started - and we still don't have GREAT quality versions of so much of this stuff. I understand danny might have much stuff / but Steve must? So many demos / b-sides etc.

@@bazookajoe9864 lol I would say that’s because of audio quality and just that fact that he is younger and possibly speaking more comfortably/naturally.
Anyone listening and wondering what's the big deal, realize that this was recorded on a very low tech recorder. The real sound would've been fresh. These kind of concerts blow away about anything you'd see today.
This just makes me increasingly disappointed that they never performed Wake Up (It's 1984) in a true live setting. It sounds so incredible here and could've been even more incredible on stage. Edit: Forgot about this comment. Since then I learned about the New Year's show and even an alleged 1990s show (1995 I believe) where it was played. I will say I'm disappointed we don't have any audio of these shows, let alone footage, but one day we'll get it.
It Only Makes Me Laugh was always my favorite song off of So-Lo. sounds like the version on this recording has the same arrangement as the one on Boingo Alive, but something about how the shoddy tape this was recorded on has affected the audio really adds to it. love it
The introduction really makes me wish Oingo Boingo made a cover for Auld Lang Syne. Open Eyes is fine, but Danny's lyrics are hauntingly beautiful in some weird way I cannot fully describe.
@@MistahM man really went from looking like a clone of Ribbs to looking like a stereotypical 80s nerd and yet he still probably was Oingo Boingo's best keyboardist

Hello, fellow young Boingohead.
I sound so silly to my friends mentioning the music I listen to, including Oingo Boingo. 😭

Man I got into this about 5 6 years ago. Never found another band with as much stuff unreleased. Fresh takes on the tracks every time.

I am almost positive they played it at a new years eve show in San Diego. 85,86,87 range. My memory ain't good any more
They did. New years eve 1984 and later years too.
I have seen them many times. I have seen them perform 1984. I was also at the new years concert 12/31/1984
The opening band was the Untouchables
I would gladly exchange all of my finger and toe nails and my ability to blink to see them in concert
