I can't stand the media narrative of "Who Made Who". Bill was known as a brilliant defensive master long before Brady sniffed an NFL football. They made each other great. Tom made Bill's life easier by solidifying the QB position, and Bill gave Tom the defenses to mitigate opposing high-flying offenses particularly in the postseason. Peyton said they were the 2-headed monster. You usually had to beat them both to win. Why can't we just freakin appreciate that rare combination.
Because the media wants clicks these days. Instead of praising these guys as the dynamic duo and greatest coach\qb tandem ever it turned into whos more important.
Being in Boston it just ruined sports radio for me in the end.

ive been a pats fan since I was a kid in the 90s that fucking game is by far my favorite patriots game of all time.
The game planning for Ed Reed is one of my favorite nfl film cuts ever.
My thoughts exactly when I saw this for the first time. He once said that whenever they would play the Ravens he would write on his wristband "See where 20 is on every play". The respect, bro!
Both Brady and BB have spoke at length about how good Ed Reed was and how critical it was to know where he was at all times. That part with them talking about him in the office really is an awesome insight into how each guy thinks and what they thought specifically about Reed. I would’ve loved for Reed to have been a Patriot. I know BB would’ve loved to coach him and I’m sure Brady would’ve preferred not to have to play against him.

One of the greatest and most underrated moments between Belichick and Brady, was that blow out loss on Monday night against the Saints, back in 09. It shows Belichick recognizing Brady as the number one leader of the team, and he can vent on Brady.
I also really like how Bill was upset with himself rather than the players. He knew he had talent he just needed to coach them in a way that made them play how they needed to. It’s so easy to blame your players I feel as a coach and it makes me respect him a lot

Facts every relationship has problems
BB loves winning way more. Notice the mic'd up isn't in the years following the 6th win when he really wanted Tom gone. IMO Brady EARNED the right to retire a Patriot at 45 provided he didn't start playing like Farve or Big Ben at the end of their careers. TB12 earned this, not just because of 6 trophies but because he took MILLIONS of dollars LESS and he allowed BB to publicly coach him right up to his last day. If BB didn't want to let Brady do this, which he didn't, then BB should have been more transparent and less weasel-y. Just do a press release that says We appreciate Brady but at his current age we have to assume that he will start to decline, like every other QB so we want to draft a new QB and start a new chapter before the inevitable decline. We want The Patriots to continue to be dominant without a lapse. We wish Tom the best of luck. This would anger some Pats fans but it's more honest then pushing Brady out with a disrespectful contract and then putting all the blame on Brady and making it sound like he wanted to leave out of nowhere when it is OBVIOUS he wanted to retire a Patriot at 45.
It would appear that the post game discussion between BB and TB12 was successful since immediately following Tom said, during the post game presser, that he will be a fixture around Foxboro when he retires. I assume that BB apologized for the handling of Tom's departure, expressed gratitude for all that Tom has done and talked about how they will be forever linked together and it's better if it is as a united front. Good for them for putting aside the bad blood and good for Tommy for getting his truth out. It's an important lesson for coaches and players and anyone in a relationship. It's important to treat people well and reciprocate when someone has given you everything they've got and it is important to value yourself enough to associate yourself with folks that will appreciate, honor and respect what it is that you bring to a relationship.

@@andrewfung8591 Agree. Mac is so good that ppl don’t call him a rookie. I believe Saban & Belichick were running the same basic offense. & yes Brady has always had an excellent O-Line. One of the few times an opponent penetrated that O-Line for pressure up the middle was the 2 Giants Super Bowls where Brady lost. After Brady got past the Chiefs in the 2018 AFC title game the Chiefs hired the DC who beat Brady in those 2 SBs. Although they beat the Pats the next year they didn’t have to in the playoffs because the Titans eliminated the 2019 Patriots. I would love to see Mac make it to the Super Bowl this year.

I don’t know if that will happen but man I hope you’re right! If he retires and walks always forever I don’t know how I’m gonna feel. Watching him every Sunday of football season has been a huge part of my life for the last 20 years and if he’s not there anymore I don’t know if watching the NFL will ever be the same to me.

The fact that Brady left the Patriots, and instantly won another SB with the Bucs, cements _his_ goat legacy forever. Some(not me) will still still question Bellichick, if he doesn’t win another ring(or at least get to the SB), without Tom - as crazy as that sounds.
For Me, Bill’s legacy is also cemented, by continuing to be relevant and super competitive during this free-agency and salary cap era, that’s basically designed to prevent dynasties from getting close to happening. _That’s_ goat coaching, right there.
Bellicheck already won a ring without Brady. The 1990 NY Giants SB upset was only possible because of Bellicheck’s defense. They both have nothing else to prove.

In general, I'd like to see the whole league to move towards more old school clean and simple designs instead of the cluttered up early 2000s aesthetic that many teams still have these days. At least it's looking like it's moving more into that simple direction.
There's a fine line between simple and boring, though. Like colts unis are definitely simple, but they're just straight up boring. Teams have been able to walk that line and make simple and nice looks too like I mentioned with the new pats jerseys being simple and clean, but not boring. I still dig the throwback more, but you get what I'm saying. Bengals new jerseys are definitely pretty slick too imo
@@STSGuitar16 Yeah as a Boston sports fan, uniforms are such a frustrating topic because I love the Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox uniforms but the Celtics and Red Sox never actually wear their uniforms and the Red Sox alternate jerseys are mismatched cheap trash that they sell in the pro shop. The Celtics logo was iconic in the 80s/early 90s with the simple green and the white but they've added too much color to it and now it just looks like a goofy cartoon. I've always hated the Patriots uniforms.. They have been garbage ever since they went from Red to Blue and from Pat Patriot to the flying Elvis scheme. The best NFL uniforms are the Steelers, Packers, Giants, Cowboys etc.. The Patriots could have a great uniform if they wanted to but they choose not to.. that's my only beef with the Kraft ownership is their horrendous taste. The uniform they wear now is a hybrid of the old and new. They currently wear a silver helmet despite silver no longer being a part of the uniform lol. To me, the Patriots currently look like a generic football team from a Disney movie that didn't have the legal authorization to use NFL logos.
@@waynetables6414 I feel you. I'm from NC and a fan of teams around here, so I'm not really qualified to talk on the subject of boston sports unis, but I'll run my mouth here anyway lol. The red sox will never change, imo, just because of the history of the team. Just like how the colts, packers, cowboys will probably never change either for the same reason. In my opinion though, there is a way to update the uniforms and keep the history still intact for sure. It's hard to argue with the simplicity of some of those looks and how classic they are, but that does not mean there is no room for improvement that would also keep the classic simplicity that has been around for 100 years now. Small things could be done to improve all of them.
As I said in my original comment, I think looking towards the past would be a good move all around. No more cartoonish logos; keep it simple. Make the primary celtics logo into a well-designed shamrock kind of thing, for instance. Don't get rid of the current logo all together, just find a new way to integrate it somewhere else. Simplify stuff while still using classic logos and imagery. Those sorts of things would look so sharp if done right. At least, like I said, the trend seems to be teams moving away from cluttered 2000s looks towards more simplistic looks these days, so that is definitely a step in the right direction.
As a Panthers fan, I really wish they would at least update the helmet. That thing has barely changed since 1995 when the team started. At least with the new ownership, we have been getting some really awesome color combos that the old owner would never ever let happen. I can't say how glad I am that those boring-ass all white jersey and pants combo has largely been swapped out the for white jersey and black pants combo instead. I also really love the all black look too. Not a fan of the color rush all-blue look (except when we murked the cowboys in all-blue on thanksgiving in 2015 lol), but the blue jersey/black pants looks pretty good imo. ut, as with every team, they would do good to update and simplify their look all together as well.

Man, this is pure joy. So lucky to have watched this for 20 years.
You know what’s even crazier. Tom was around the greatest coach of all time, one of the greatest receivers of all time. He’s been surrounded by some of the best at their respective positions… and he still performs at the highest level. He attracts the best to play for him. He’s a walking scouting team, and he earned that with his work ethic and dedication to his craft.
the willingness to take less then what he's worth has been huge in that endeavor. It'll allows them to target players who fit their scheme, take chances others may be unwilling to take. QB's routinely say they are all about winning after signing 40, 50 million a year contracts. And granted, when you're offered that money in a sport that chews through people, I get it. Its life changing for you and for those to come. But its a big reason I think why those players are sitting at home during the postseason entirely or not getting to the SB more then once and Brady's routinely competing. Not the main reason, but when you factor in everything you've said already it gives them an additional edge.
8:48 is why Bill is the greatest of all time. He takes the responsibility, he knows what needs to be done, he doesn't blame. That's someone I'd follow into battle, someone who understands the situation and knows the solution without attacking anyone.

Coming from a kid who when he got his License at 18 first thing I did was buy 2 tickets to a Patriots game and took my little brother. They were 2 and 11. I continued to support my team for years and years that was 1983 with Steve Grogan. 1983 to 2001 was such a long time but it sure was worth the wait... It's February 16,2022 and just want to thank Bill Belichick and Tom Brady for all they have done for the Patriots and for all of the Happiness they have brought me and all the other fans of the Patriots. . .Thank you very much. So happy to of been around to witness the greatest sports Dynasty of all time. The longevity and consistency of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady's Patriots are of which we will never witness again. They both had the elite ability to demand greatness from themselves and everyone around them. Brady could pick apart top 10 defenses while throwing to hotdog vendors year in and year out. Belichick could mold a top 10 defense of his own out of gas pump attendees with only sheer will and determination. A QB/Coach combo this dominant will likely never be seen again. They are both the greatest of all time.
I love the clip of Brady and Belichick talking about how to attack the Ravens. I wish there was more footage like that around the league even if it's years after the fact. Thanks for posting. Great video!

What’s really amazing is that these guys were together for 18 seasons, taking 2008 out because of Brady’s injury, and during that time the worst record they ever had was 9-7. That means for 17 of 18 seasons they won double digit games. When you really think about it that’s insane. We’ve seen every franchise have a losing season during that time and not only did they never have a losing season but only once did they fail to win 10 games in a year. That’s almost impossible in today’s NFL

I used to think it was bill. Now I realize Brady made those offenses go round, and bills defensive game planning is unmatched. But you needed Brady to make sure the team always felt like they had a chance.
There’s also a great moment in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl 53. Bill, McDaniels and Brady are talking about going for a 4th down to essentially clinch the game or kicking the field goal to go up 10. Brady chimes in that he thinks they should kick. Bill agreed. They made the field goal and won by that score. A great moment of showing that they both leaned on each other and got the absolute best out of the other. You will never see anything like the Belichick/Brady combo again.

Taking nothing away from what Brady & the Bucs accomplished in '21, these two legends belong together. As a pure football fan, I for one hope that Brady finishes his career with Bill & the Pats.

Brady told his coach he was happy for him. In my son's entire life Tom Brady was in it every year. There may be the best in sports any sport of all time. If people don't recognize that, they never played a sport.

Bill always believed in Tom and saw a greatness in him when nobody did. I'm sick of everyone saying Bill and Tom hate each other and that Bill and Tom don't respect each other. They have a great relationship and they still do to this day even with Tom in Tampa. Why else would they meet in the locker room after the Bucs and Pats for 20 min? The NFL 100 is a good example of their relationship and what it is behind the scenes. They wouldn't do the NFL 100 together if they really didn't like each other. They are very private about their relationship but they love each other at heart and Bill didn’t want Tom to go. He wanted Tom to stay but he didn’t have the salary cap and the talent to surround Brady with. Plus Belichick was trying to do what was best for the Patriots and their future and I bet he cried behind the scenes because he knew it was the hardest decision he even had to make in his coaching career. Everyone says there was beef between to the two and so on. So what?! No relationship is perfect and nobody is prefect. 20 years of dominance is the example of these two and this video shows the respect and love they have for one another.

really takes you back and makes you realize the hard work and dedication it takes. The relationship between Belicheck and Brady was a tough love type of father and son duo. Never wearing emotions on the sleeves but were both on the same page until the end where they had to go seperate ways. If only Tom mentioned us New England fans in his retirement article. Pretty F***ed up, we cheered for this guy with what seemed for 20 years. We dont even get a nod or a mention. You know one thing I love about sports is when quarterbacks throw interceptions it's like as soon as they get off the field and the coach comes up to him they look so mad that if anybody talks to them and they look like they want to kill that person no matter if they pissed them off or not it may not be funny to other people but this is hilarious to me cuz it's pure emotions heat of competition will you show that you're great at everything you do and don't want to make mistakes lovely isn't it hahaha 😂

My favorite film of Brady is his reaction to the butler int. I’m glad the camera stayed on him to capture such an authentic moment that symbolizes his joy for the game rather than switching to the on field celebration. A grown man jumping up and down on the sideline by himself reacting to a play on the field.

For many Patriots fans, they still love their team, but it’s a bit like 49’ers fans when Montana went to the Chiefs. A lot of SF fans went with him.
These 2 were great individually, but synergistically the way they complimented each other were lightning in a bottle goats. Brady gave bill player leadership and the luxury of being a defensive coordinator, and bill gave Brady a structural formula to follow and a system that maximized his strengths and minimized his weaknesses. They were truly special as a combo.

Personally I feel like a lot of it will be 3rd hand accounts tbh, we probably won't get the full story until everyone retires and have nothing to lose. (But I assume the main reason will be that Bill and Brady just not seeing eye to eye anymore)

The greatest coach/QB combination of all time. It's still somewhat a question as to "who made who" but I do think some of that question will get answered with how he grooms Mac Jones. If Jones isn't at least a mid/upper tier QB then we can safely say the lion's share of the success over the years is due to Brady.
Regardless, we're never going to see a duo like this ever again.
@Alex A yessir. But honestly Brady made a lot easier to Bill coz Brady undertands football in the same way as Bill. That's why the were the best dinasty in the american sports history.
I mean bill is the best coach ever but he definitely would not have been as successful without Brady. He prolly would’ve won a few chips but Brady needed bill to be who they are and vice versa. Just so happen that the best coach and QB were on the same team and the rest is history
