I think the natural hair “movement” has been great. It’s taught us a lot. However, I think the biggest disservice it’s done is the over emphasis on product and hardly any emphasis on health. If we want healthy hair, the majority of us have to have a healthy diet of protein, green veggies, collagen peptide powder and/or unflavored bone broth powder or just bone broth. I see so many naturals complain about shedding and thinning. All the product in the world won’t help but your diet will. Not a vegan diet but one with protein and green veggies and low carb, plenty of Vitamin D, Zinc and re-emphasis on the collagen peptide powder (great for the skin as well) and the unflavored bone broth powder. I take 30 grams of the 2 combined daily, significantly increase my Vitamin D intake, zinc & other minerals. The other thing I’ve done is incorporated intermittent fasting. One of the best things for the body. Once I did these things my hair grew like weeds! It’s so dang healthy.

I went natural in 2017, then I just got tired of the whole natural hair processes.
I loved wearing my 4c hair out but every night I had to braid it before I sleep else I'll wake up in the morning looking like I just cut my hair
After a long thought process, I decided to get jheri curls this year, even when everyone said it's old fashioned
I love it so much anyway, and I've received so many compliments since I got it done.

It’s a great option! I’m definitely still getting used to it but I’m happy I did it

I agree everyone should do what's best for them. I went natural in 2011 and have never looked back. I had gotten relaxers for so long I forgot what my natural hair was like. Plus my hair was thinning more and more with every relaxer. It's never been very thick to begin with but when I stopped relaxers, it did thicken up some. Honestly, it's the healthiest it's ever been. In 2020, during the pandemic, you were one of several natural hair You Tubers who inspired me and taught me a great deal about how to care for and style my type 4 natural hair. I actually love my wash day. Sitting at my beautiful vanity with my beauty and hair products is my self-care time and feels so therapeutic and relaxing. Don't get me wrong. It's not all cook and curry either. I have "bad" hair days sometimes or times when the styling doesn't turn out like I wanted or I let it get too dry because I skipped my moisturizing routine. But overall I love working with my natural hair and different products. I have found a lineup of go-to products that work for me. But I still love trying new products as well. I'm a beauty, skin and haircare products and fragrance junkie, too, so there's that. But I make no apologies for it because I have the beautiful, healthy hair and skin to show for it. And my hubby tells me I always smell so good! He loves that I'm super girlie girlie. I'm glad because I love it too and I'll never stop. Plus he says I could be addicted to worse things. We're just glad I love products that are good for my body, skin, hair and nails. 🥰💕💇🏽‍♀️💅🏽

I can't wait to try microlocs! This style looks soooo good on you! Right now I am trying henna deep conditioners and blow drying for ease bc loose natural hair for 7 years is a chore. I'm over it!

Love your hair! I've been natural for years but I'm at the point where I just don't have time for long wash days and leave-in routines anymore ( i have 2 babies). My hair was suffering because of this. I tried out a texture release silk press, it made my life so much easier. I'm going to stick to it and refresh every 6 months or so. It makes everything a lot easier and I can revert so easily between straight and curly styles. :)x

I’m natural and have been since I was 16. Currently 28 going on 29. Not sure if I’ll ever perm my hair, but I did attempt locs however it just wasn’t the right time. I’m currently focusing on finding the right products for my hair. Would love to see how long my hair can grow. I have a tendency to cut my hair 😂. Short hair has been some fun times for me. Anywho, I’ve been back and forth with locs but we’ll see what the future holds. Thanks for sharing!

I thought you looked quite lovely with your hair to the side. It framed your face nicely and added volume/thickness. When you swept it to the side, I thought, 'Wow! She looks like a supermodel!' Effortless, windswept, natural beauty. It looked like you tossed it/ ran your fingers through it and transformed. So pretty! Composed and peaceful reflected.

Right you are! My flexi rod set has failed me for the last time. I was thinking about going back to straight hair but I love the look of our hair/ Afro textured hair and I don’t want to give that up… so Microlocs or sisterlocs are our next move… still debating. I want the cost of Microlocs but the grid of Sisterlocs but I want to interlock because I just like the look and the interlocking prices are looking like the same for sisterloc retightenings. But looking long term those retightenings are not for broke pockets… it just feels like its a big cost to be natural, have manicured locs, or have straight natural hair. Just going to have to pick my battle wisely…. Because obviously me and styling my natural hair Is not the solution. I can get her to be cute for a 2 days max and it’s back to ponytails and ponytails do not serve me.

If you hair is long enough have you considered mini twists that you keep in for some time? It still gives you options.
