I can’t join now, but once I move to our homestead in a few years I will need all this info. I hope it will still be around then. Good luck! Sounds lovely.
Once we move back to Washington this will be one of the first things I'll be doing--signing up for your academy. So for now, thank you. I watch your videos and have learned so much. In the meantime I'm doing a practice run this year, on my 10X10 garden, of a lot less than 3,000 sqft. Someday we will have chickens. lol
We are purchasing land and I plan on employing your tutorials for gardening. I would be interested in taking part in your Pioneering Academy next time you have openings.
I absolutely HATE the fact that I can't afford to join your academy. Can't even buy a pressure cooker. Depressed. But I appreciate the free moments you give us. Thank you! x
@@sdfghxcvb1539 I hope you're right. We lost everything 10 years ago when we lost a child to cancer and we've never really recovered financially. Won't speak of the emotional part. I have a pressure canner on my wish list and it's been there for about a year. One day at a time.
@@EspritPA Hope is good. I'll hope with you, sorry for your loss, won't act like I understand your pain, but letting you know there's folks who care is important. Our 10-yr old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a year ago. Before then we were eating store bought pasta, processed foods, breads and other garbage. We found an online community of other type 1's and a medical dr who eat low carb/ high protein. Our son lives on meats and low carb veggies and the thought of our government phasing out red meat consumption by 90% before 2030 is frightening. We just moved out of suburbia OU to a 1918 farmhouse on 10 acres in hopes of growing our own food. I work full time at the moment as a retail pharmacist and spend more time searching than actually doing. That being said. How do I join? I didn't see a link.
@@LisaEverette it's called TypeOneGrit (something yellow in the profile pic). They all are super knowledgeable, all maintain normal blood sugars for themselves or their kids and will help in any way possible. They will tell you to buy the book Diabetes Solution by Dr Richard Bernstein though. How old is your son?
The woman in your video who shows her pantry seems to be doing storage wrong. She has jars double stacked and has not removed the rings. I thought these were not a good way to store.
Double stacking is fine, both Ball and the Nation Center of Home Food Preservation state its okay. Rings can be stored if you remove, wash and fully dry before putting back on. I don't store with mine on but our tested sources say it's safe but many choose not too
Can you comment to how much additional information is provided as a member vs listening to the podcast and watching youtube videos? Is it the same info, just organized better? I would love to join, just trying to decide if the value is there for me to spend the money at this time (getting started with homesteading is expensive).
Way more info in the Academy. Each video has a full written guide, charts, worksheets etc. Plus monthly seasonal harvest and recipe guides, live monthly videos, and new courses. There's a full seed saving course, outdoor cooking, fermenting has a vegetables, dairy, sourdough and kombucha series (meaning not just one video on each of these but a full series) with equipment lists, recipes, troubleshooting and more just to name a few.
My husband and I are living full time in a fifth wheel until he retires and we can move to our ten acres in Idaho. Is it worth it to start this now with my limited space, or should I wait?
My family of 4 live fulltime in a bumper pull trailer on our 8.5 acre homestead and we’re making it work with an additional 40 foot shipping container and a small shed. We climatized the shipping container (insulation, air conditioning, etc) and this is an “extension” of our living space and storage. We’re holding out on building in this ridiculous housing market/building supply madness. If you do wait to move to your property, consider planting any fruit and nut trees on the property now. These can take some years to get established and bearing decent fruit.
Jen right now is the perfect time to join! Take this opportunity to learn all the skills you will need prior to building your homestead. That way you will be ready to hit the ground running when he retires. You will save yourselves so much time and heartache in the long run by learning these vital skills now.
@@stedvet The space I have now is whatever cupboard space I have in our fifth wheel, and I've planted herbs in containers and started learning about plant and herbal remedies (I'm a nurse so this greatly intrigues me). I have space on our little RV park spot for several containers but that's it. Thanks for the tip about planting trees now. GREAT idea that I'll bring up to my husband!
Would the Academy still be helpful to someone who doesn’t have land yet? I live on a 1/2 acre and just started a garden this year. My husband and I’s goal is to live on land in the next 5 or so years but we currently don’t.
Yes, we have members in urban environments, apartments, suburbs and acreage. You'll have a solid foundation for when you do move to larger acreage. You'll be able to do quite a bit with a 1/2 acre 😊
I am currently living in a suburban area on a tiny lot(1/4 acre). We are trying to get a piece of land for ourselves. We've always had a garden wherever we've lived, but now we are forced to container gardening; this year's produce for my husband and myself: Cabbage, green pepper, jalapeño pepper, green onions, sweet peas, spaghetti squash, white onions, yellow onions, red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, rhubarb, strawberries, dill, okra, chives, Brussels sprouts, Carolina reaper pepper, potatoes, green beans, cilantro. You can do this!
Yes! We have members from all over the world and the gardening course teaches by frost dates so you know when to do things by your frost dates, the zone is used for the orchard, berry and perennial planting. The gardening monthly live videos are also broken up by climate so you know what to do in your area each month 😊
With the hydrogenated oils, irradiated fruits and vegetables, and grains desecrated with glyphosate, our food supply is destroying our biome and causing a health crisis unprecedented in the history of humanity. All of us are going to face a health crisis if we don't take charge of producing our own food.
This feels like an infomercial. "Time is running out", "the door's closing" ... to what exactly? What is the purpose of the time limit and rush to sign up, other than it being a textbook marketing trick? You post very good content here on YT and this group seems like it could be a positive experience for many, but the implied urgency without explanation seems disingenuous.
We have members only live challenges that start on specific dates so we have specific period when people can join so it doesn't disrupt the group or have them coming in missing half of it. It's not disingenuous or a trick.
It's great to see you up to 221k subs. At this rate it'll be nice to see you at a million subs in a few years, because you really ARE the best.

I'm so excited for making this simple step towards my homesteading journey! You and your videos and podcasts are amazing and will heal our planet
