“A little too light be dark skin, and a little too dark to be light skin” this is painfully funny 😂Nobody wants to talk about the colorism that black women use towards each other with the excuse of trying to be represented
“the real paperbag wives of the dmv area” was GENIUSSSS!! given the OBVIOUS colorism that seems to be the foundation of “the real housewives of potomac” smh
I absolutely love for this show. Turning the mirror on themselves snd STILL hating that image took my breath away. Partly cuz i was laughing but also because of how painfully true that narrative is. Ooof. This show is brilliant.
Whoooo, it must have been cathartic to conceive and develop this skit. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who finds herself running headfirst into this issue time after time after time. Heck I've probably been on both sides of it at times. God bless this show for all of the light-hearted ways it pokes fun at serious issues.
Except they don't. They just think they do. When they're given accurate reflections of themselves they still find flaws in the characters and feel inexplicably triggered. That last point was a brilliant conclusion.
Just 2 seconds and already had objections. And the 57 minutes was never to be seen. I wonder who’s leg that was? Maybe Gabrielle. She said,”I’m happy your pen is black”
I totally get the state of confusion when it comes to our representation in media. BTW, I was just in East Greenwich, Rhode Island... saw no evidence of Black folks. Saw two maybes, but couldn't even be 100% sure if they were black or "other."
Y’all need to put some money in ads behind this! Your work is excellent. 40k views does not do this channel justice. I’m hating on UA-cam for not promoting this :-(
And the point is...black is not monolithic. We come in all variations, shapes, personalities, characteristics, and form 😂 The only shows I can think of that come close to portraying the spectrum of the black experience is Insecure and A Black Lady Sketch Show. Further thought...would it be racist if there was a White Man Sketch Show? Just wondering...
Maybe not if it accurately portrayed what it means to have white male privilege in America and how white supremacy and misogyny impacts the world both past and present. But, they ain't gonna do that show. They don't even want us reading the books.
There are a few shows like that, the most prominent being "The Whitest Kids U Know" which was actually pretty funny and a distinct window into the white male thought process. Its on youtube btw.

That is such a ahistoric question.
Literally the history of modern comedy of American tv is a white man's sketch show.
