It's Rebecca Schoiet's voice does singing for Twilight and Sunset that's why Twilight's part sounds correct Rebecca does alot of the wip songs before they get everyone else to do their part for the finished project
Beautiful. I like how Twilight's smiling when she says "but the magic's what I really want to see", the students and cinch forced her into it but her personal desires bleed through too. Her transforming into midnight feels more justified, natural if she's smiling, wish they'd kept it in the final animation.

It provides excellent tension, while also concisely expressing the nature of her inner conflict. For reference, counter-point is when two separate melodic parts contrast and complement one another while overlapping.
Everyone's talking about the Principal's voice, but how about Twilight's? It's subtle, but it's so much more powerful here than in the final version. I much prefer her voice's portrayal here. :o

I think the final cinch voice has a certain authoritative and powerful feel this one doesnt have as much, and Twilight doesn't really sound like Twilight here. I do agree keeping the smile would've been cool though, not sure whether I wish they kept that or not
I think the reason people think it's better is because it appears more expressive. Another comment mentions that the final product is done with standard pupper animation, which limits things a bit. When you think about it, the expressions in this one are allowed to be more menacing and thus kind of scarier, which leaves more of an impact. The teacher looks so much more intimidating in this one and her voice, while sounding too young, hits a bit harder and harsher, whereas the final version sounds a bit too soft (in my opinion) We're essentually getting a glimps into something we can't have due to the animation constraints.

In this version principle sounds softer and more motherly in a sick way. Its like making yoi sympathise with her in a way, to guilt trip twilight into unleashing it. The student's voices are less impactful compared to the finalized version and twilight's sounds more strained and kinda desperate. Tempted even and it makes it really more impactful here. AND THE "NOW" AT THE END, loved it
This version of the song is super intimidating, it really emphasizes why Twilight folded in to "Unleashing the Magic" and the smile at the end was just perfect. The song as performed in the movie was probably toned down a bit due to how frightening a 7 yearold child might find it, but regardless the final version of the song is still one of the best, most memorable songs in EQ and the MLP franchise as a whole
The voice of the principal in this draft is better, because it has more character, but the final voiuces of the students are better because they sound to husky and breathy and like they didn't really get it out. I like the final Twilight more since it sounded more like a scared questioning child. In the draft she sounds to grown up, to sure.
I loved the storyboard so much than the final because there' s more depth, perspective and emotion in the characters and the environment and you can see the feeling of tension.
Ok but the ART, it's BEAUTIFUL. I wish MLP didn't use flash animation because DAMN LOOK AT THIS! (Honestly the only thing holding it back is the visual quality of the video)
It's demos like this that make me wish they get included on soundtracks.. such a rare occurrence when the official sources release them, it's a shame. Twilight's part is my top favorite on both versions but for different reasons, haha.
