    I get excited when a new video is posted and learned a lot about this new hobby of mine. I also love my peace, my privacy and sitting on my front porch looking at my fig trees mature.

    Lou you must be on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay. You stated that you were 7b. I’m on the Eastern shore of Virginia near the bottom of the peninsula. I happen to be in 8a. Virginia is very peaceful. I lived in New Jersey most of my life and we made the move to Virginia. 😊

    Lou have you ever thought about just grafting the Ronde Bordeaux on to a Dessert King or other fig tree root stock that is not bothered by the nematodes?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  2 місяці тому +2

      Hi Sean, that's a great idea,and I will get on it as soon as I find time to draw extra breath!Generally, in my zones, I am not a strong advocate of grafting. However, my problem there with Nematodes savagely attacking my Rond De Bordeaux makes for a perfect exception! Thanks for that suggestion! This is a perfect example of why the true comradery developed in the fig community and, as a result of this youtube channel, is such a rich and satisfying joy to me! Lou Monti!

    I wish you could have waited until winter and made use of the cuttings! I'd love if they were available to purchase.

    In a container I seem to get figs to produce 1-2 years and 8-10 feet of growth first season from a cutting. However in the ground they seem to take longer.

    Hi Lou, would you recommend Celeste for a potted fig? Or do they need to be in-ground for decent flavor? I enjoy you videos, thanks

    hi Lou, do any of the big vendors (OTBP?) have your uncle's Adriatic to put it into wider circulation?

      Lou, I’m curious about this also. It would be great for many people to be able to keep this storied fig growing perpetually. Does Big Bill offer it now or will he in the future?

      Hi there! Many years ago, I gifted Big Bill this perfectly beautiful Adriatic tree. He visited me a couple of times since, and he told me that he remembered me giving him the tree, but he had somehow lost track of it. So, I gave him a few cuttings of my Uncle's Adriatic tree last summer during one of his visits. I haven't followed up on it, but I think that I will contact him about it. Keep in mind that this particular Adriatic takes several years to come into its own. It's cold hardy, but I've always grown it in a sweet spot or up against a garage or house, it produces an unusual amount of breba for an Adriatic, and Ive always grown it in the ground. I've never kept it to fruition in a pot. Lou Monti
