Hey, that’s my quiz! By the way, the slides that I prepared did say it’s not just samples, but can also theme songs that sound similar to them or rip-offs. John even said that at the beginning. Anyways, thank you for playing!
Yeah, these guys don't know music from before they were born, and they further insult it by calling it all generic while they listen to modern day rap and pop crap!
I think you guys are confused on what a sample actually is…. A portion or entirety of an original song or song that previously used sampling and then adding that to the construction/structure of a new song. All these WWE themes do technically “sample” from already existing songs, whether it’s just the instrumental or a certain measure or two. Something as simple as the drum beat being added to a song is defined as sampling.
It can also be the same chord progression used or the either the vocal melody or main instrumental melody with a different tone sound. (I.E. strings or organ instead of piano from the original)
@@yellowlabs619It has to be a very recognizable chord progression with the same inversions and rhythmic emphasis. For example, Never Gonna Give You Up has a very standard chord progression used in nearly every Japanese anime, and is even referred to as the anime progression by a number of folks. I wouldn’t necessarily say either sample each other. But the intro to Aerosmith’s “Dream On” with its riff on the F# minor walk down would certainly qualify.
Fun fact about AJ's theme - when he debuted at the Rumble I tried to use Shazam to find the name of his new theme song ..but everytime I got "DMX - No Sunshine" 😂
Sound like y’all just now learning how sampling works lol, crazy cause John do music. It’s a beautiful thing especially as a hip hop head. As a person in my late 20s that how I learned about older music from the 70s/early 80s
Imagine if that quiz was longer? The other samples that would be heard! DDP=Smells like teen spirit WCW Bash at the Beach/The Outsiders=Crazy-Seal Raven=Come as you are WCW Road Wild PPV theme=Right Now-Van Halen NWO theme= numerous Jimi Hendrix songs
WWE music department: why would we buy that song? When we can make it at home for nothing. All we need is a singer, some instruments and a smaaaaall aubergine.
I think this is what CFO$ (and, to some extent, Jim Johnston) do, just get some "inspirations" from good/decent music... Unlike Def Rebel, who makes original trash
4:50 I CALLED IT!!! I heard the "riff" or whatever you call it and noticed it immediately! Kofi's Jamaican theme song! I listened back the Carmella sample and heard both Carmella's and Grayson Waller's, so Dante wasn't too wrong/off. However, I immediately heard Carmella because right after that 1 or 2 second intro her theme goes in to F.B.U.L.O.U.S. Whereas Grayson's start to his theme is SLIGHTLY different. Man, Finn's sample threw me WAY OFF. At first I thought the same as you guys with DX, but then I was like, "Nope, I hear Batista in that with the drums." STILL WRONG. This is SO GOOD. Do more of these.
Okay, I was LITERALLY just playing The Show Must Go On by Queen on my keyboard before I logged on and watched this video. It freaked me out when it came up as one of the answers here (especially since I had never caught the similarity to Kofi's SOS theme). This was a super cool and unique quiz....would love to see Omar submit another round like this. I didn't even do that well, but similarities in the music really got my attention. Good stuff!
As a concert pianist as a concert pianist, I’ve always loved using Chopin for Undertaker’s theme. It was so clever, and very recognized back in the 90s.
Absolutely wild pull to get Eugene and even crazier to have Eugene that early cause I feel like hardly anyone would've got it. Also just to throw it out there I have been convinced for years that Kellin Quinn did the vocals for Rebel Heart, Gargano's old theme, so knowing that his band is the last "sample" Gargano would be my guess
That’s so crazy on the Rusev one. I didn’t hear it until John hummed it out himself. Then it was clear as day for me. But John himself couldn’t get it. Too funny.
I listen to that Royal Blood song quite often and I always thought it sounded like Balor’s theme but I never knew it was actually sampled from it that’s awesome.
13:02 I found this song like 3 days ago from a Bobby Lashley Vs Austin Theory Vs Seth Rollins Survivor Series 2022 highlights video (CV Highlights on Twitter) and then it's in this video, what a coincidence
I actually found out about Royal Blood around the time Finn debuted from a video about theme songs that sound like real songs 😂. Out of the Black was the first song I heard by them
I feel very qualified to chime in on this one cuz Dante was right about the Kanye sample. He’s thinking of Blood on the Leaves which was sampled off of R U Ready from TNGHT (My PFP!)
4:00 FTR/The Revival sample the Midnight Express' theme song, which is a 1978 song called Chase (Midnight Express Theme) by Giorgio Moroder. The song played here does sound like another 1980s entrance theme, I just can't put my finger on which one.
I always thought Gargano’s theme was sang by Hayley Williams of Paramore, even though it just says CFO$. Wouldn’t have thought it’d samples SWS. Hopefully they can go back to the theme and get one of them to actually do it once Def Rebel catches a DFA.
I’m surprised Charlotte’s original theme song wasn’t on here the guitar part in it is literally ripped from the song rooftops from the original (Call of Duty) Black Ops. The second you hear it you can’t unhear it. They of course repurposed it and made it fit with the Ric Flair bits of the song.
Owl City one made me think of Smoking Mirrors Cody Rhodes theme and the one that turned out to he Undertaker i thought was Bray Wyatt/Wyatt Sicks themes.
For the one with carmella theres actually 2, the other one is Zelina Vega except carmellas was more based on the song and zelinas rather had the instrumental version of it
Hey, that’s my quiz!

@@michaelvazquez73 Thank you! I’ll try my best. For this one, I try to make it as mainstream as possible.
Good concept, poor execution
For the Drew one, its funny that John said "maybe it was the same band that revamped the song" when it was a literal Metallica song lmao
Yeah, these guys don't know music from before they were born, and they further insult it by calling it all generic while they listen to modern day rap and pop crap!

It's not the boys who are confused, it's the person who made the quiz who got it wrong.

Yeah most of these weren't sampled the themes were just based on them.
Finn Balor should definitely get the full "Royal Blood - out of the black" song as his theme once the Def Rebel contract is up.
Fun fact about AJ's theme - when he debuted at the Rumble I tried to use Shazam to find the name of his new theme song ..but everytime I got "DMX - No Sunshine" 😂
Omar should make another one of these quizzes. Then the guys should guess both the wrestler, whose theme it is, and the song sampled.
"I'm gonna say it: I don't think you should know what Eugene's theme song is." I love the banter between you guys; thanks for the hilarious videos!
So this isn’t really “guess the sample”, its more of a “Guess the WWE theme from its inspiration”
Though I didn't guess that it was Kofi's, I am furious for you for not knowing Queen's Show Must Go On! XD
From what I can gather, they don't know anything from before 2010.

It's crazy how many big 90's hip hop songs are actually sampled from songs from the 70s and 80s
One of my fav samples is Fabolous - Breathe from Supertramp - Crime of the Century
Y’all need to do this again
Sofie: *plays the Funeral March*
John & Dante: I think its him?
Me: who the hell else would it be?
Out of the black by royal blood is an outstanding song. Didn’t realize it how similar it is to Balors theme
Me too! Was also shocked with their answers. I understand they don't know much good music, but giving DX as an answer to a 2014 song is crazy.
10:50 Dante you’re talking about blood on the leaves!! Classic 🔥🔥
As soon as both of them stared blankly at the funeral march for like 10 seconds straight, I knew I wasn't gonna finish this video. That's *SAD.*

Tommaso Ciampa = NIB
You do know that they were barely alive when WCW went under, right? That's a quiz for 35+ year olds.
That California Love sample for one of the Mania theme songs.
@@Shane3125 Crazy that I'm under 21 and know WCW and their themes. Age doesn't limit knowledge.
Metallica actually clearing a sample!! Who knew such a thing existed!

Eminem used a sample from them in one of his songs
i was amazed when he said Waller at Fancy haha, i always associated Carmella with that song
