This worked ! You have to choose the option “profiles & pages you mention”
When you mention choosing the option "profiles & pages you mention," does that mean only those you mention on that specific post? So, if I post something but don't mention any other profiles or pages, no one will be able to comment? That's what I'm hoping for (need to keep a few ignorant family/friends from making stupid comments, LOL).
Even if I set post to public and then go back on the post, the option to change who can comment isn’t there.

Trying to do this on windows browser and the facebook app. You select who can see it, select public, and select the three dots again, and there is nothing about turning comments off anywhere. This video was posted like six days ago at my time of commenting. Did I miss an update or something? It would be nice to say something without assholes, or related family, or both, inputting some bullshit all over what you have to say. This is for a personal wall post, not like a public comment. Every video I can find states the same process you are. Did I miss the ability to keep mud from being smeared on my words by a week, or what?

Open the youtube studio on your computer, you choose your audience there

I just tested it and the option is indeed there. Is your post public? If so, restart your phone then see if the option is there.

I'm missing something. I made a "test" post, changed the audience to "public," then posted. Then immediately went back to the 3 dots, clicked "who can comment" and selected the "profiles and pages" option. Yet the Comment button still appears on my post. What did I do wrong?

One thing I will note is that after I changed the privacy, the option to limit who comments didn't show up when I clicked the three dots. I had to manually refresh the page to get that option to show up.

It appears FB has changed this options. It's not there now. My post is public but I can only limit comments. It doesn't let me shut it off entirely. 😢

Hi! I need to turn off commenting in a post I made in a group. The privacy is just set to the members of that group. I can't turn off commenting on my post. It doesn't give me that option. How do I fix that?

There are no 3 dots on the post I created.
People keep sharing posts from my public page. I cannot tell who is doing it because of their privacy settings. I just selected that only people who follow my page can comment on my posts. I am trying to find out if that setting will still be in place once someone privately shares my post. As it stands, some bums are using my work in their private spaces for content. I don't want them to be able to do that.

If you press the first " done" , log out , then login again. The page will be updated by then , press the 3dots again , and you will see the option of who can comment

Yes it does. You have to follow the instructions exactly doing nothing more or less than what he tells you to. You also have to make sure that you do some refreshing of your Facebook page to see your changes before you leave.😊

Okay folks I want to make this official and I am not special in any way. If you are not successful with this the first time, you are either missing or adding a step in the process and or you are not refreshing your Facebook page when it needs to be if you are having some trouble with this still then it is either your machine your app or something else going on at your end. I was able to make these changes on both of my smartphones on my Facebook app and I was also able to make the same change on my PC. Nothing special about it at all😊
So this stupid fb guidelines let you either sacrifice the privacy of the post by making it public or one should give up to anyone who desires to comment…. So either u butt naked… or someone comments on ur butt being naked🤦🏻♂️fb sucks
