    A snowy 5 day hike through the volcanic Geghama Range in Armenia, with trail dogs Tess and Molly. We were planning to hike the full 114 km Transcaucasian Trail section, but things didn't quite go to plan... Hope you enjoy the first of many Armenia hiking films! Cheers, Kim & Del

    Thank you so much for showing the beautiful and wild nature of Armenia. The quality of your content is absolutely amazing. I hope to see more places because our country got a lot more to offer and many of those places are unknown to travelers.

    This was an amazing video guys, thanks a lot! It's now my favorite video about Geghama mountains! Even that I have been guiding tourists to there for many years, and see those landscapes in regular basis, still watched with great interest... Wondering what happened to the dogs, since you started from one point ended in a completely different location

      Hey, thanks very much! As someone who knows the area so well, it means a lot to hear you enjoyed our video and watched it with interest. We were concerned about the dogs ourselves, but when we returned to the area a couple of months later, visiting Geghard Monastery in a rented Lada Niva, we saw one of them outside someone’s house along the road. She was much grown but seemed to recognise us. She was being well looked after and we were invited in for food and drink with the family. They said the other dog had been taken in by someone else but didn’t know where she was. Anyway, we were delighted to know that they’d found a home 😃

      Thanks Sue, really appreciate you watching and we’re very glad you enjoyed it and found it relaxing… that’s always our hope. It was challenging, particularly due to the conditions and scarcity of water, but having those great dogs for company made it all the easier 🙂

    I've been living in Armenia for a year and I haven't had the opportunity to visit Azhdahak, and now it's covered with snow there. I will look forward to the next season.
    However, I visited a bunch of other places here :)

      Thanks Partoo! We didn't have a campervan in Armenia, we did do a road trip with a Lada Niva, but mostly we were staying in guesthouses because it was too cold to camp in December when we did it. • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 роки тому +2

      We've seen it a lot with ourselves and other hikers in Georgia and Armenia, and other places such as Nepal. I think it's just in their nature to follow along with anyone who is kind to them, probably hoping for some food, but also I think they like the company. Because even when we don't have much food to share, they still follow along.

    I wonder how those dogs got out in the middle of nowhere,

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  Рік тому

      There are nomadic camps up there in the summer and we were there in late September when there was still the odd camp. We figured they just wandered off and that they would go back to their camp, but they just kept following us. Anyway, we met one of them again months later and she was staying with a family near where we finished, and they told us the other dog had found a home elsewhere.

    As ever... this left me with a big happy smile! But wow... stark, cold and hard work by the look of it! Have to say, I'm not a fan of being adopted by dogs on hikes... eat your food and bark at every little thing in the night. But nice that you could make it work. Superb edit, and a brilliant review at the end. What a privilege to be able to share in your trip. Your videos connect with me like no TV travel programme is able to do. Thanks so much!

      That's what we like to hear! Very happy you enjoyed it and to hear how these films connect with you. Yeah, it was pretty cold and hard work at times, but that just makes it even more memorable! Having a trail dog or two always brightens our day, but I can see how not everyone would like it. Thanks for always watching and appreciating our work! Have a great week, Kim : )
