Great conversation. There's a lot of this that's missing from the DOC. There needs to be a complete unpacking of LUTHER & HIS DIVAS - including Aretha, Dionne, Diana, Cheryl Lynn, Cissy & The Gyrlz, Whitney Houston, etc. THE COLLABOS. Speaking of ROSS, the true measure of his adoration for ROSS was on her 1987 Red Hot Rhythm & Blues on which his dream truly came true as he wrote and produced "It's Hard For Me To Say" for Ross. Was quite the quiet storm hit in Savannah - to not have been released. Diana resurrected it when she was on OPRAH the final season (a couch serenade from Diana to Oprah) and she's added it into her live act - incorporating images of her long lost Motown family on the big screen behind her.
