I would recommend the XM4 Both are bassy but XM4 has a lot of detail and texture to it but Skullkandy crushers have so comedically much bass it makes it hard to hear anything else
Xm4 definitely doesn’t have better sound. I own them both among many other headphones and most people complain that the xm5 sounds bad. If you know how to tune them they are far superior than the xm4 in sound quality, noise cancelling and comfort.
I was thinking xm5 but then realized I had a bunch of cc points to burn so I put them towards e gift cards at Crutchfield and only ended up paying shipping and taxes on a set of Mark Levinson 5909s
I thought so too but you can customize it on the app on the equalizer to your likings. After I did that, there was such a big difference that I changed my opinion that those are the best headphones I have tried

Completely unacceptable the 4 is better in multiple areas and the 5 is little more than a cool new design. And anyone who actually cares about audiophile sound will tell you they both suck... So marginally better sound is not a worthy improvement.
Can you name me a single 'audiophile' rated headset that doesnt need a dedicated DAC/amp to power them? - I didnt think so. If you want to carry around a wired headset, and an amplifier to power it - be my guest, but Sony has done a good job of creating a product that is portable, delivers great sound, has plenty of features, at a good price. Anyone that says they 'suck' is delusional.
The huge HUGE problem with this is that the xm4s on Amazon are the renewed price, but the new retail price is 350, and xm5,s renewed is like 250

They absolutely do NOT have better call quality. The XM5 are the best headphones, of any kinds, that I have ever used for calls.

Perhaps depends of your hearing, I tried both of them an XM4 sounded better for me, so I sold the XM5.
