      Surely the ship on the right hand view screen is a Nemoidian shuttle? It looks very much like Nute Gunray's ship from 'The Prequels'. Imagining it as "something-with-something-else-bolted-on" is more complex than necessary.

    The tractor beam scene was also an analogy. Luthen needed to gauge how hard the tractor beam was pulling. He forced them to pull harder by making it look like he was trying to run away. When they tightened their pull, that’s when he sprung his trap and destroyed the tractor beam. That scene is basically the whole show in a nutshell.

    The Imperial ship is actually a Cantwell class. Named after Colin Cantwell who designed and originated the shape of the Star Destroyer way back in the 70s during preproduction for the original Star Wars. His ship design had those dishes and the high ariel laden bridge tower. That was a nice Easter egg.

    I may be reading to much into this, but I find it interesting that "Andor" consistently codes Luthen with iconography traditionally given to a Sith: "Aldani" gives him a cheery, Senator Palpatine esque dual identity to contrast with the more somber Sideous-esque characterization we'd seen so far, "No Way Out" ends with a scene where he's dressed in black and flowing cape, and this episode gives his ship an accessory that essentially turns it into Darth Maul's double bladed lightsaber.

    • @regend762
      @regend762 2 роки тому +10

      I was thinking that Luthen is a dark jedi that was on the outs with Sideous or another Sith and all he wants is revenge and sets up puzzle pieces to destroy the sith. Of course he won't be alive and it could take decades for his plan to be completed.

    • @cheogt4623
      @cheogt4623 2 роки тому +7

      I've noticed the dark projection of the char, but i have thought with no doubt so far, that is a way to show that, war even when is for the "good" ones, takes you to a dark place, the more compromised, the darker... But Michael Evans your point makes me reconsider, and i hope is not a sith like char. Would take the poetry away.

      I think the reason Luthen's iconography matches so well with the Sith and its inherent darkness is best explained in his own monologue from episode 10:
      "I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them."
      Definitely not a coincidence, but definitely not a literal interpretation either!

    Yeah that wasn't Syril's 'secret box'. He waited for his mother to leave home before sneaking back in. He even walks past his own room before raiding what looks like her nightstand as it was full of jewellery. He's stealing credits from her presumably to get to Ferrix.

    • @anthonyfry567
      @anthonyfry567 2 роки тому +22

      Which just added another layer to his character.
      Doesn't even have the credits to get away on his own - has to "steal from Mommy's purse" to flee the planet.
      Which is just another thing I love because usually in the story everyone seems to be able to just "go" where they want/need to.
      Once again, Syril shows how it is for most of the middle class residents of the galaxy.

    The piece of art you see in the middle of Kleya and Vel when they are talking in Luthen's store (8:02) is a miniature version of the Aztec's Sun Stone (commonly known as the Aztec Calendar, which is huge and is one of the most important pieces in the History and Antropologhy museum in Mexico City) but without the figure of the Aztec God in the center. Luthens lasers are likely actual high beam lasers. Not the plasma weapons that the rest of the galaxy uses. Against anything larger it likely doesn't do much but against a small ship like a fighter with no shields like ties its probably devastating.
      These are probably ancient or specialized tech probably not even a weapon but something more for say industrial use that's been weaponized. Your likely not going to see these on your traditional ships weapons systems. Its possible they could have been ancient sith or republic tech.
      Yeah B2 will need to either talk to someone or either be memory wiped or something cause he fits the definition of clinically depressed.

    Cassian didn't just give a blaster to Melshi, he gave the murder weapon from Ferrix to him. I feel like this is going to be very important in a future episode. If Melshi gets captured with that thing, they will connect him with Andor. After Kreegyr is fingered as Axis, that puts the whole thing to bed for the ISB, especially after Saw and Rael let Kreegyr burn to save the inside man. But then Daedra or Syril finds the blaster, knows what it is, and knows someone is still out there who is very close to Axis.
    Thi could also be an example of Andor's survival reflexes kicking in: getting that blaster away from him and getting away from Melshi before he goes loud about the prison. It seems like the kind of thing that Cassian Andor would screw someone over about.

Both times had me choked up by a sci-fi piece of drama. How did Disney do this against the backdrop of such stinkers like Boba Fett? Do they see how great this series is? Is it just writing, acting, and story? This is how Star Wars should always be and it makes me sad that the prequels and sequels could have been so much more. You are great doing this videos, I found and old one were you didn’t have the video store, and I think you have come a long way and the show it’s so much better now (and before it was great to) have anyone notice the Aztec Calendar on the background of the store, it was there for a long time, I’m so intrigued with this, maybe it has to do with Diego who’s Mexican and also producer of the show and like in Wakanda Forever, there is a new strong presence of Mexico
