Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine. And that was after the wedding party had *drank all the wine.* Drinking alcohol is not a sin. *Getting drunk* is a sin.
That makes no sense, if they had drank all the alcohol. And partied celebrating a wedding they were obviously drunk. Perhaps if Jesus made more wine this is a foothold for drinking in moderation or on special occasions. Not being a "drunkard" 24/7.
I understand the smoking argument, but when taken to a logical conclusion it seems untenable. I think most people will tell you that living in a smog filled city is dangerous to your health compared to living in rural America. If you choose to live in L.A., is that a sin? One could make the argument you are harming your temple.
hi I have a question that when I study or work hard in busy times, and I want a ciggarete because it can keep my head not to hit my laptop, is it okay to do so? Or sometimes I hang out with my friend, can I have a cigarette when they serve me one? Because I have quitted daily smoke abt a month, but when I am tired of studying, making me sleepy, I tend to have 1 ciggarrete (just 1 and done) then I feel an uncomfortable sense.
“For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and *drinking no wine* , and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ “The Son of Man has come eating and *drinking* , and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a *drunkard* , a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
I think if you cut out smoking, should also cut out caffeine. Both are addictive and harmful. I think as long as you arent chainsmoking, and as long as it isnt keeping you from praising God, there is no issue, but you should try your best to refrain. Simply too easy to get addicted to nicotine.
If You're serious about your walk with CHRIST, and in your Bible everyday, You will get conviction from these things & want to change. I'm a current smoker of 27 years battling this right now. I have already gave up marijuana/alcohol. Which was much easier for me than cigarettes.
Funny how the verse from PAUL, who wrote about two thirds of the new testament is NOT mentioned. 1 Corinthians 10:23 "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not." Paul also said all things are lawful for me but I will be mastered by nothing. First off, stop asking man what God thinks, ask God. To often mans own convictions taint the answer, and compromise it with opinion, meanwhile the same person might be engaging in 3 other things you yourself would find not pleasing to God. This seems especially true on THIS particular subject. ASK God what pleases Him, and follow what He says. ALSO: If it offends YOUR OWN conscience, it doesnt matter what someone else thinks, the bible instucts us NOT TO VIOLATE OUR OWN CONSCIENCE, meaning it doesnt have to be a sin, follow God's word regardless. Many are judged by a criteria that neither lines up with God's word, but is based on human preference and opinion, and that is NOT a reliable source for measuring your RELATIONSHIP with God. Notice I said RELATIONSHIP, not RELIGION, or JUDGEMENTAL LEGAL LISTS concocted by MAN to make themselves feel HOLY. Truth is many things cn defile the temple of God. The bible teaches that what goes into a man is NOT what defiles him, but that which comes out, for that which comes out is from the HEART, and from the heart comes envy, murder, ect. THESE things defile a man. MAN looks at the OUTWARD appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. Many so called NON SMOKING christians wont make it into heaven, because their hearts are defiled. So ask God, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, and trust the finished work of Jesus on the cross for your salvation. NOT SMOKING doesnt make you any less in need of God's grace. As far as Alcohol, SAME situation. Does it offend your conscience? Because NOWHERE in the bible does it say THOU SHALT NOT DRINK, it simply warns against overindulgence. If drinking alcohol in moderation was a sin, that would mean Jesus' FIRST miracle at a wedding WAS A SIN, and even more that He caused others to sin, THIS IS NOT SO. So ignore the legalistic crowd telling you that something is sin that God did NOT say was a sin. Oh and the Be sober, be vigilant verse (1 Peter 5:8) is a warning to stay vigilant and ALERT, and isnt even speaking about alcohol. The context of SOBER here actually means living with a SINGLE-MINDED FOCUS (WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW),so if someone tries to use that, instruct them in love, and patiently correct them, always keeping the focus not on being right, but on exemplifying Christ. Lastly, DO NOT let your freedoms in Christ become a stumbling block for your Brothers/Sisters in Christ. Simply put, ASK GOD, FOLLOW YOUR CONSCIENCE, AND BE MINDFUL that others may not share that same liberty. Be blessed.
@@GrimGianni Hi, I want to ask that so if I have quitted daily smoking, but when I feel sleepy at work, or study sometimes, I take just one ciggarette and smoke on my own, not buffing to people's face because it could harm their health, is that a sin in the case of moderate? And by your argument, if when I smoke that ciggarette I feel sensitively bad, is it a sign I should throw it away because the Lord in my conscience is trying to talk to me? I feel it many times since I quit daily smoke, but since my area of study and work contains too much procedural and numerical contents, sometimes I feel like need a cigarette. Thank you for your sharing.

Peace be with you. Brother or sister, would your conscience be clean knowing what cigarettes could do to any human that you would sell cigarettes to? Matthew 22:36-40 King James Version 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Romans 13:10-11 King James Version 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 14:23 King James Version 23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
I can’t believe how many ministers say alcohol is not a sin ,,,,,,did u not read the part about “spirits” that’s what alcohol means an is ,,it is most definitely,,u r a different person when drinking ,an yes one drink can make u ,not sober ,which is another statement from Bible ,to be sober ,,
Theres a demon named al 'chuul. Apparently..and apparently making water into wine would be classified as alchemy..so....does that mean jesus is an alchemist? No..does that mean he created a demon..yes..only if you forget who made it and what its for..otherwise it's called a spirit..just like interpretation when done correctly implies a truth..A truth when believed in can become a new reality for someone who thinks it is so...by the time you apply life's lessons to the facts and studies of interpretstions it it safe to say you're faith will get merciful reception from jesus who understands not everything clear so as to draw you into his light seeing as it's like a trap..theres nowhere else to go by the time you figure out answers are different for some people..
That is an interesting question. The research on the dangers of smoking was just emerging prior to his death in 1963. It is a mystery on what Lewis might think today regarding smoking given the growing cache of medical research on its damaging effects.
Burgers, pizzas, and doughnuts contamite the temple as well as coffee! Duh! Caffeine is a drug. Moderation people. Nothing like a fine cigar and a single malt.
