Honorable Mentions (because picking just ten albums is so dang hard): - Coup de Grâce / SeeYouSpaceCowboy - Imaginal Disk / Magdalena Bay - Negative Spaces / Poppy - Highly Irresponsible / Better Lovers - I Write To You, My Darling Decay / A Wake In Providence - A Piece Of Me I Never Let You Find - Cane Hill
@@mollyesanborn Thanks for Giving SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Cane Hill, and Poppy some love. I would have but I wanted to keep the mentions and the list pretty diverse this year. All three are Amazing Releases in the Core Scene this year :)
@mollyesanborn Hi Molly, have you discovered 'And So I Watch You From Afar' yet? They released their 7th album this year, Megafauna, and I reckon you might have to do some rearranging of your 2024 list after listening to it ;) Their albums are packed full of intricate, joyful, emotion inducing music, I can't recommend the new record enough, it would make for a great reaction video as it will truly take you places and have you painting verbal landscapes to what you are hearing. Hope you have a wonderful festive period and see you in the next year!
Cool picks Molly! I'm a big Leprous fan and glad to see them get some more love. Their singer Einar Solberg did The Congregation live acoustic with just him and a piano and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't yet, that was a 2024 highlight for me!
In random order: - Isaac Roux: Troubled Waters - Fontaines DC: Romance - Sylvie Kreusch: Comic Trip - Magdalena Bay: Imaginal Disc - Sarah Kinsley: Escaper - Ão: Ão mar (late 2023) - Bolis Pupil: Letter to Yu - Kacey Musgraves: Deeper Well - Nilüfer Yanya: My Method Actor - Bluai: Save It for Later - Aili: Nandakke - St. Vincent: All Born Screaming
@@mollyesanborn liked them, but very fatiguing listen... too much dynamic range compression. Seems like loudness trend is getting worse again. Isaac Roux, Bolis Pupil and Ão still listenable. Although major part albums mastered by Matt Colton (he was everywhere this year) were still listenable despite poor dynamic range. Emily Lazar did another horrible job with Vampire Weekend, the debut album by Haim she mastered was also full of sound artefacts due to heavy limiting and compression. A real shame, especially guitar music sounds bad this way...
I have some of those albums in my top 50 (or my honorable mentions). 2024 was a very deep year for music, but while it contained a large amount of 4-star albums, I'm less sure it was filled with all-time albums that will be discussed for years to come. Thank you for sharing your list! I didn't realize that KMFDM had an album out this year, I haven't heard anything from them yet and I know they've been suggested for me to do a reaction for.
Hi, I enjoyed your vlog. I always enjoy your reactions. I’ll be sharing this with my best friend as well. We won’t be meeting up till the New Year. When we meet up in the New Year, we will be rewatching this and your upcoming videos together. Merry Christmas Molly!
The Balance and Composure song that is the first thing played in the video, immediately made me think of Swervedriver’s 1993 album Mezcal Head. They combined Shoegaze from the UK and Grunge from the USA and it’s one of my favourite albums of all time. Check them out, they fit your channel well. They reformed a few years ago and are recording and touring again.
Ooh, I will have to give them a listen soon! Someone else mentioned Swervedriver in the comments as well. Shoegaze fused with grunge seems like a combo right up my alley.
My list of best albums is pretty wide and varied, but ones that might be something interesting for you: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum: Of the Last Human Being, Julie Christmas: Ridiculous and Full of Blood, Geordie Greep: The New Sound, Infant Island: Obsidian Wreath, Mothica : Kissing Death. There were so many great releases this year, this is just a snippet of the heavier/stranger music I was into.
I always look forward to your end of year lists and discovering new music that way! I tend to base my top albums off what I listen to/discover that year versus the year the album came out. So my top album this year actually came out in 2009 and it's "Bones in the Soil, Rust in the Oil" by Pretend. I wish I had discovered this album sooner...I have NEVER connected with an album the way I do with this one. I heard it 3 months ago and have practically had it on loop since then. It speaks to me in a profound way that I can't really put into words. It makes me feel all the feelings. I'm sure your backlog of albums to check out is massive but if you have any interest in proggy math rock with soft vocals and strange almost chaotic rhythms I highly recommend checking it out.
Thanks for checking out the video and hopefully you discovered some new favorites! I really like your idea of picking an album from any year as your favorite, if I did that I think Streetcleaner by Godflesh wins my #1 pick for 2024. I had that thing on repeat throughout most of the year. I'll have to give your album suggestion a listen, sounds like something definitely worth checking out!
1. Magdalena bay 2. Knocked loose 3. Opeth 4. Blood Incantation 5. Unleash the archers 6. Charli xcx 7. Ankor 8. Nightwish 9. Wintersun 10. Billie Eilish yes mary's music taste is a great channel I follow her too. Also nice to see poppy in the honorable mentions, negative spaces was great!
Awesome list, thanks for sharing! I intentionally didn't listen to the Opeth record because I might try and get to a reaction for it in the future. I really want to hear it though.
I can't believe the year has raced through so quickly, Chelsea's album was my most anticipated, and it's still on regular rotation for me, her entire discography is amazing...you have quite a varied selection for this years picks Molly, I think I might check out the Charlie XCX album seeing as it has your seal of approval, I'd also like to wish you a wonderful Christmas Molly, and Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas to you as well! 2024 has absolutely flown by, I agree. It feels like I did my 2023 top albums video just a few months ago... and yeah I love the metal music, that's what I really lean into here on my channel, but I love a lot of pop and electronic stuff too. That's largely what I listened to before going down the metal route when I got into making these videos. As we all know that opened up a huge rabbit hole of music discovery, lol! The Charli xcx record is definitely worth checking out, hope you enjoy it :)
This is a first I have heard of Allt, but other comments also like it so I'm excited to give it a listen. These were my favorites of 2024. 1. RevengeinKyoto, msliterate - Angelus Mortis 2. Origami Angel - Feeling Not Found 3. Parannoul - Sky Hundred 4. Poppy - Negative Spaces 5. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To 6. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out 7. Strawberry Hospital - Nullmatrix(ep) 8. Wisp - Pandora(ep) 9. Delta Sleep - Blue Garden 10. Spirit of the beehive - You'll have to lose something
Oooh definitely go give the Allt record a listen when you get the chance! That thing is wild, each song brings something new to the album. And thanks for sharing your list, you've got some on there that are new to me. The Wisp EP is great, just didn't make my list as it's an EP but a fantastic project!
Merry Christmas to you as well, thanks for taking the time to check out the video. Chat Pile is awesome, they've really got that crushingly heavy tone to their music that I personally love. Not too far off from Godflesh. I'll have to listen to that remix album at some point, I'd be curious to hear it.
Wow Molly! I can't believe we are already at another top 10 list for the year. Where does the time go? Happy holidays to you and looking forward to your reactions next year.
I know, this year absolutely flew by! I had to scramble to get this list together over the past couple of weeks because the end of the year really snuck up on me. Happy holidays to you as well, and I'm excited to see what music I'll discover moving into the new year!
Extremely happy to see Balance And Composure made the list, they're amazing! That distortion and melodic sound you describe with Balance and Composure is called shoegaze (or shoegazing). If you ever heard of My Bloody Valentine (highly recommended band), their landmark album Loveless was one of the pioneers of the shoegaze genre and sound. It's branched out over time and was blended into other genres like grunge; you can hear heavy shoegaze influence in the first few Smashing Pumpkins albums for example. Swervedriver is another amazing band that blended shoegaze with grunge and would be highly recommended to listen to as well. Shoegaze music is also referred to as dream pop, which for some reason I quite like the term for. That's why the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream is my favorite album of all-time, the shoegazing, dreamy, melodic sound to it. If I was a musician that's the sort of thing I would try to blend together; a mix of shoegaze/dream pop, grunge, melodic rock, ambient/techno/trance, a dash of progressive rock/metal, a pinch of baroque pop and even sprinkles of exotic stuff like bossa nova/samba all mixed into a strange sonic brew. I've never heard anything like that either (still searching). I have a weird mind. :P I can't even come up with a top 10 list, there's so many to go through and it's too hard to narrow it down. 😒
I'll definitely have to give more of Balance And Composure's music a listen, they've got a great sound. I love that shoegaze style you mention. I actually did a reaction to Loveless by My Bloody Valentine a while back on the channel and really enjoyed it. Swervedriver is one I haven't gotten to yet though, I'll have to keep them in mind for a video. And I guess weird minds think alike because the sound you describe if you made music is exactly what I'd be into as well. Anyway, I appreciate the comment and wish you a happy new year :)
Mi top 10 de 2024. Sin orden. Emil bulls - love will fix it Aphonnic - crema Intervals - memory palace My own private Alaska - all the lights on Envy - eunoia Paleneø - score Poppy - negative spaces Rob scallon - crowded rooms Never easy - it never gets easier Low pressure system - unknown caller
Merry Christmas and here’s my top 10. 1. Alcest: Les Chants de l’Aurore 2. Magdalena Bay: Imaginal Disk 3. The Warning: Keep Me Fed 4. Kendrick Lamar: GNX 5. Griff: Vertigo 6. Jack White: No Name 7. Nada Surf: Moon Mirror 8. Ulcerate: Cutting the Throat of God 9. Lowen: Do Not Go to War With the Demons of Mazandaran 10. Pearl Jam: Dark Matter
Thanks for sharing! The Magdalena Bay album almost made my top ten, that one is a great pick. A lot of people in the comments keep mentioning The Warning album as well so I'll definitely have to give that one a listen.
@@mollyesanborn Definitely check out The Warning. Interestingly, Dead Poet Society just released a version of Hurt with The Warning a couple of weeks ago.
Ciao Molly, I'm glad Leprous is on the list, even though I like more the previous albums from the start, this one is a good comeback to a familiar sound.
I really enjoyed the direction Leprous took their sound in on Melodies Of Atonement, they're a band that is always evolving with their style. I agree that it's not my top pick in their discography but still a very beautiful and well produced record.
Interesting list with some new albums to add to my listening queue, but I am a bit stressed to see how many good options are out there and how few time I have to listen to them :) A pleasure to listen to your reactions and recommendations, have a great Christmas and let’s see what the new musical year has to offer us, I really think 2024 has been a great year for music.
Thanks for watching, hope you discover some new music to enjoy. This year really did fly by, a lot of great albums came out and I'm sure I still didn't get around to hearing a lot of amazing stuff from this year. Anyway, happy holidays and I look forward to what 2025 will bring!
My older brother is a Charli XCX fanboy. One time i decided to listen to only pop records for a week since most stuff i've been listening to was rock and metal, and he requested that i listen to "brat". During that listen he would overdramatically interact with me while singing the lyrics. This is why "brat" means a lot to me, as he has moved out for college, so i see this album as a way for me to remember him. As of writing this, my brother visited us for christmas and is currently sleeping.
Charli xcx is great, Brat is a fantastic album and I can see why your brother enjoys her music so much. And Merry Christmas, enjoy your time with your family :)
Merry Christmas Molly. I loved the new Knocked Loose, 156/Silence, Chelsea Wolfe, and Chat Pile albums. I love Charli XCX so I definitely want to check Brat out. Here is my five favorite albums of the year: 5. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere 4. Oranssi Pazuzu - Muuntautuja 3. Opeth - The Last Will and Testament 2. Job for a Cowboy - Moon Healer 1. Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Ooh if you're a Charli xcx fan I think you'll enjoy Brat quite a bit! It's a very fun album with a lot of variety on it. I haven't heard any of the albums on your top five, the Opeth one I may plan on doing a reaction for in the future.
Chat Pile was new for me as well and kind of a revelation. Been a while since I heard this kind of metal/industrial/rock/indie/core? Allt was great as well.
I still need someone to put Zeal & Ardor's GREIF into their Top 10 lists. Leprous' album is amazing too, great ranking! Love how your musical taste has expanded through these years and have ALLT and Charlie XCX in the same list is incredible.
my TOP 4 albums of 2024, One Assassination under god chapter 1- Marilyn Manson, Call the devil - Mushroomhead, Post Human Nex Gen - Bring me the horizon and From Zero - Linkin Park. am happy with all 4, listened to many times without getting tired of.
Thanks for sharing your favorites! The Marilyn Manson and Linkin Park releases I intentionally avoided listening to as I will probably do reactions to them eventually on the channel.
If you haven't yet, i highly recommend checking out Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation. Think cosmic death metal with dreamy Pink Floyd-esque synths mixed in, there's more to it than that though. Great video!
@@mollyesanborn check out their EP 'Dempsey'. I think this EP and the latest album is their best stuff. I logged out for a while in the middle because they got too Americanised for my taste. PS if you're on a soft rock vibe then here's another band flying under the radar: Tigercub - As Blue As Indigo.
Some interesting pick for me to look into. I didn't get a chance to listen to that new Chat Pile but I plan to. In no particular order here are mine: Then Comes Silence - Trickery Melvins - Tarantula Heart Spiter - Enter the Gates of Fucking Hell Fearing - Destroyer Ministry - Hopiumforthemasses Tears for Fears - Everybody Loves a Happy Ending Orville Peck - Stampede Opeth - The Last Will and Testament Marilyn Manson - One Assassination Under God Paysage D'Hiver - Die Berge Departure Chandelier - Satan, Solder of Fortune NITE - Have Mercy EP The Cure - Songs of a Dying World Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus My Dying Bride - A Mortal Binding Vulture - Sentinels
Merry Christmas, Molly. I haven't really put much thought into what my favourite album from 2024 was, but a lot of solid death metal albums dropped and there are many I still need to listen to that I have written down. Pretty good year xd. Conglaciation, Defeated Sanity, Wormed, Siderean, and the list just goes on. One that definitely sticks out that I've had a blast with is First Fragment releasing a massive consolidated album of all their tracks as instrumental. I'd be surprised if you knew any of these bands hahah.
My personal top 10: 1. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To 2. Better Lovers - Highly Irresponsible 3. The Warning - Keep Me Fed 4. Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition 5. Poppy - Negative Spaces 6. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere 7. Vended - Vended 8. Unto Others - Never, Neverland 9. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She 10. Chat Pile - Cool World Honorable Mentions: Opeth - The Last Will and Testament Job For A Cowboy - Moon Healer Joey Valence & Brae - No Hands Judas Priest - Invincible Shield The Cure - Songs of a Lost World Ihsahn - Ihsahn
Fantastic list, thanks for sharing your favorites. The Better Lovers and Poppy releases were certainly honorable mentions for me, they just missed being in my top 10. Vended was one I meant to listen to and completely forgot about, so thanks for reminding me I need to go check that one out!
I love Chelsea Wolfe's music so much. The album was great. If you haven't already you should check out her youtube page and listen to her acoustic versions of her songs she does in random places. She did one of Flatlands in a stairwell and the echo effect it gave her voice was awesome, and she did Dusk and it is devastatingly beautiful.
She's absolutely fantastic, I agree! Her entire discography is top tier for me, and She Reaches Out is a great addition to it. I had no idea she has a UA-cam channel, I'll definitely go check that out. I did get the chance earlier this month to see her perform live and hear a lot of the songs on the new album in a stripped back acoustic style, and it was such a fantastic show! She can definitely bring the heaviness but I loved hearing a softer side to her sound as well.
Give Grammy nominated by Islander a listen sometime. This album was my number one of the year and I feel like nobody talks about this album. Love your videos!
Yeah that's a new one for me, I've never heard of Islander before. I'll have to check it out! And thanks for watching, Merry Christmas :) Edit: oh man!! This album is brilliant. Getting some big Deftones vibes at points, which I always love. I think the opening track Witch is my favorite at the moment. I'll be giving this one some more listens for sure, thanks for suggesting Islander!
Hola Molly me encanta tu selección musical de 2024, ahora este es mi top: 10 We hate you please die - Chamber Songs 9 Cassandra jenkins - My Light, My Destroyer 8 The cure - Songs of a Lost World 7 Charli XCX- Brat 6 Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown 5 Waxahatchee - Tigers Blood 4 The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy 3 Calva Louise - Over The Threshold 2 Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To 1 Mj Lenderman - Manning Fireworks Para destacar : La banda francesa We hate you please die es una sorpresa que rescata ese post-punk de antaño con un sonido unico. Mención honorifica: Like Roses - Stuck EP (altamente recomendado) Coilguns - Odd Love Valley - Water The Flowers, Pray For A Garden Hamferð - Men Guðs hond er sterk Saludos desde🇨🇴💒
Great picks Molly! I got inspired to make my own list :) 1. Mamaleek - Vida Blue: a dazzling combination of avant-garde jazz & metal that leans into the jazz side way more this time around. Very unique even for them, and one I had to physically pry myself from to keep every listen a proper one because it was so addictive. I’m a sucker for albums with a unique sonic palette & while this list is subject to change, this one STOLE me ❤ 2. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To…: Chelsea’s back on her heavy shit (language necessary) with her voice acting as an anchor to these hectic industrial soundscapes - she’s able to keep things fresh with different twists in each consecutive release. This time having just as much in common with Massive Attack & Tricky as it does Skinny Puppy or NIN. 3. Michael Kiwanuka - Small Changes: maybe not as immediate as it’s predecessors, Small Changes is a more pulled back release that none the less packs a ton of feeling & memorable melodies to give this warm vibe that harkens back to the soul greats: especially Curtis Mayfield, which is high praise! 4. Pallbearer - Mind Burns Alive: some emotive *DOOM* from what Is now one of Doom Metal’s most reliable names, now with a greater emphasis on atmosphere and delicate clean sections to balance out the record sonically. 5. Melt-Banana - 3+5: over a decade later this is an admirable follow-up to “Fetch” - still mixing the sounds of noise-rock, hardcore punk into this chaotic, yet joyful stew in a lean 24 min package. Agata’s guitar playing is truly unique sounding, like a video game glitching/exploding, and Yasuko sounds like the kid being electrocuted from said game glitching/exploding. 6. Yīn Yīn - Mount Matsu: purely a selfish pick because I can’t get enough of their dreamy psych-infused dance music. The new Kharangbin gets a nod for similar reasons. 7. Melvins - Tarantula Heart: the best album Melvins have released since 2006’s “(A) Senile Animal.” Losing the gimmicks and giving us a behemoth of twisted Sludge that only them and an elite few can muster. Good year for sludge in general with High On Fire & Black Tusk’s new records AND Acid Bath & Kylesa reuniting. Good stuff! 8. Alcest - Les Chants de l’Aurore: once again the masters of blending Shoegaze & Black Metal come back after way too long. Nothing too different from prior releases & that’s a good thing, maybe being even more uplifting or ethereal than before. I can really hear Neige’s influences from Slowdive to The Chameleons on this one (both of those being great bands to pick) 9. Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown: some nicely unsettling folk-adjacent material from one third of trip-hop pioneer, Portishead. Truly didn’t expect it to sound this good! Another bonus was it got me listening to more Portishead than I have in ages. 10. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere: genuinely excellent progressive death metal with a ton of Pink Floyd & Tangerine Dream worship. Deserves all the praise it’s getting. Both brutal AND ethereal with an appropriately cosmic atmosphere to boot.
Nice, very detailed list and descriptions! I look forward to checking some of these out. I knew that Melvins and Alcest had new releases, those are two bands that have been suggested for album reactions so perhaps I'll have to plan on getting to them soon on the channel.
@@mollyesanbornfor a helping hand with the Melvins, because they have like 30+ albums. Here’s 5 specific releases that’d be great for reactions! :) “Bullhead” (1991) - one of the most important albums in Sludge history combining Black Sabbath & Hardcore Punk together to create this heavy & twisted perfection. The “Atlantic” albums Houdini, Stoner Witch & Stag. (93 - 96) They got a 3 album deal courtesy of Kurt Cobain, as he was a big fan of them and hugely instrumental in Nirvana’s early years. Great production & experimentation. Finally, “(A) Senile Animal” (2006) - first album they did with 2 drummers (probably the easiest one to get into) Buzz (vocals/guitar) is also part of “Fantomas” featuring Mike Patton/Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) & Dave Lombardo (Slayer) - and they are insane…
Not a huge fan of the new direction of 156/Silence but I understand it and I'm happy it's worked out for them! 🤘🏻 My favorite album this year was Highly Irresponsible by Better Lovers
I found that People Watching really grew on me with repeated listens. Their older stuff has a bit of a heavier edge to it and the new album really leans into that smoother tone with the clean vocals, I think it's a cool direction for them to go in though. And Highly Irresponsible is a fantastic album as well, if my list had been a bit longer than ten albums it definitely would've been on it!
Merry Christmas Molly! Also it caught me off guard like crazy when knocked loose came up! I LOVE THEM!! I just saw them last November and easily one of the best shows I’ve been to. You should do a reaction of their other albums! Have a good ass Christmas Molly 🎄 🎅 🤘
Oh man I saw them live too this October! They certainly know how to put on a great show, I had already heard the album before I saw them but the concert experience really convinced me of how fantastic of a band they are. Have an amazing Christmas as well Eric, and I look forward to seeing where this channel takes me moving into 2025.
Not sure if it was a bad year for music for me or music has been so forced into the background in my life. Just trying to think of ten albums off top of my head was full of stuff in the last few months. So had to flip through my vinyl box and hard drive. in no particular order (well the first album probably my fave): Julie Christmas - Ridiculous and Full of Blood Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - of the Last Human Being Opeth - The Last Will and Testament Full of Hell w/ Andrew Nolan - Scraping the Divine Orange Goblin - Science, not Fiction Melt Banana - 3+5 The Obsessed - Gilded Sorrow Billie Eilish - Hit me Hard and Soft Devin Townsend - PowerNerd Lucifer - Lucifer V
This year was BUSY for me as well, I had to scramble these last two months to catch up on some of the album releases I had been anticipating for 2024. The Opeth one I really want to give a listen to, I might do a reaction for it later on the channel though. Anyways, thanks for sharing your list and Merry Christmas! :)
I second your Chat Pile choice. Cool World is SOOOO Good. You must see them live. As you point out, they have a singular sound that's a super effective blend of different influences without being schizophrenic or carbon copying any of them. Their music is tapping straight into the feels of millions of people around the world. Plus, you can headbang shoegaze, mosh, stage dive or straight dance to 'em.
Absolutely, they are doing something very unique with their music and I'm so excited to hear more from them. I'll absolutely see them live if I get the chance!
i forgot, this is my list of the year, but my mexican year ends until march hehe, so it goes like this so far ua-cam.com/play/PLNiHKzKZc4rJ0lGt29ayr-iFUZOa1_Eke.html
Some albums I really enjoyed this year: 🍊 The Smile - Cutouts 🛩 Michael Kiwanuka - Small Changes 🍏 Charli XCX - Brat 💧 Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard & Soft 🌷 Liana Flores - Flower of the Soul 👀 The Smile - Wall of Eyes 🧮 Laura Marling - Patterns in Repeat 🪲 Crumb - AMAMA 🔥 Eefje de Visser - Heimwee 🎾 Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Challengers
Thanks for sharing your list! I still have not seen Challengers or given the soundtrack a listen, I need to get on that. Anything Reznor and Ross are involved with I usually end up loving.
Merry Christmas, Molly. Have a wonderful day with friends and family. I admittedly don’t keep up with new music much but my favourite album of 2024 is Jerry Cantrell’s I Want Blood. Very much in the style of Alice In Chains… which works for me! 😎👍🏼
@@mollyesanborn Thank you. The previous album Brighten was quite different, having more of a country rock style but still good. The one prior to that is his best work, Degradation Trip. It’s a double album, so it’ll take some time to get through but it’s a deadset classic. It was released around the time of Layne’s death so it’s mostly dark and brooding… again, the AiC influence.
It's a fantastic record, I really love the atmosphere on it. It's my introduction to the band as well so I'll have to check out more of Balance And Composure's discography.
Great picks this also gives me so much more music to listen to and discover. I’m a huge fan of Poppy and wonder if you like her music. Merry Christmas and have a very happy New Year
Thanks for checking out my top ten, hope you discover some new favorites! I do enjoy Poppy quite a bit, her album from this year didn't quite make my top ten but it's a very good album. Loved her collab on Suffocate with Knocked Loose as well.
It’s amusing that someone would continue blurting out reaction “requests” in the comments of a non-reaction video. Take a deep breath and maybe learn about something new.
@ what is your problem now? It is obviously her most viewed content. Get a life instead of complaining at every opportunity. I can’t believe writing suggestions is considered bad now by some.
I will definitely try and get to more Stone Temple Pilots here on the channel, I'll keep them in mind for next month. Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
No, I didn't get a chance to hear that one! Thanks for letting me know. I quite enjoy Portishead and their style of music so I'm curious to check out Beth Gibbons' solo work.
The Chelsea Wolfe might be my favorite of the year. Love everything Fontaines does, but i think i prefer their first couple albums. Also really liked the new DIIV album and Alcest. I gotta find time to check out the other stuff on your list 🤦♂️
The Chelsea Wolfe release is great, I enjoyed it on first listen but it grew on me even more with time. So many amazing songs on it. I didn't get a chance to hear the Alcest or DIIV albums, I'll have to check those out.
Minor spoilers for that first Fear Factory album I mentioned before but hearing your albums of the year makes me think you might actually appreciate that album more than their follow-ups. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of most of the banda you listed but Concrete sounds more like these.
I was so freakin' happy that Allt was your #1 and Knocked Loose was your #2. I concur. Do you have Album reactions for these 2 Albums on Patreon? I need to see 'em, if you do.
I'm glad you agree! Two absolutely fantastic bands, I can't believe that From The New World is Allt's debut album as well, that's insane considering how well put together it is. Unfortunately I do not have reactions for these albums (I don't have a Patreon or anything). I wish I had done reactions for them though, my facial expressions would have been wild lol!
@mollyesanborn I had the album on loop ever since it came out. I literally had to force myself to listen to other bands cuz all I wanted to do was listen to this album. Your reaction would have been priceless. Thanks Molly❤️
I've heard some of their music and actually saw them live earlier this year as well! A Piece Of Me I Never Let You Find was one of my honorable mentions for this year, a great album that just missed being in my top 10.
Well said, it's such a fun album. I was a bit skeptical at first as to whether or not I'd like it and then ended up getting addicted to the album, such a great pop record!
I commented the same in the rocked video, but my top would be something like: 1. Alcest 2. Boundaries 3. Charli xcx 4. Vola 5. Cane hill 6. The marias 7. Caligula Horse 8. 156/Silence 9. Knocked loose 10. Magdalena Bay 11. Blood incantation 12. Vitriol 13. Bring Me The Horizon 14. Eidola 15. Leprous 16. Void Of Vision 17. Allt 18. Job for a Cowboy Also i loved the Ep's by Disembodied tyrant and the one by Kingdom of Giants
I know most of the names but I'm not familiar with some of the albums here so I've got some things to check out. Several albums here make my expanded top 50 list but just don't crack the top 10. Here are my top 10 albums (plus honorables) of 2024. 1. Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will (melodic black metal/crust punk/epic heavy metal) 2. Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk (synth-pop/dance pop/indie pop/art rock/progressive rock) 3. One Step Closer - All You Embrace (melodic hardcore) 4. Thanks for sharing your list, you've got some good ones on there! Magdalena Bay, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, and Poppy all were honorable mentions for me that came so close to being on my list. I'll have to check out the rest here that I haven't heard. Merry Christmas :)
molly , i'm a old man now and can never shuffle through all the new music. thanks for the list for me to check out. did you hear the new St Vincent album?
Thanks for checking out the video! I know, there are so many new releases and it's hard to keep up. I had to scramble myself to get this list done by the end of December. I did check out the St. Vincent album from this year and really enjoyed it, just didn't quite make the cut for my personal top 10 albums.
If you haven’t heard Bilmuri’s newest album “American Motor Sports” you definitely need too. It’s not as heavy as some of your choices but it’s extremely groovy and catchy all the way through
I was hoping Art of Letting Go by Myles Kennedy would be here. Assuming you haven't checked out Alter Bridge and the solo albums Myles and Mark have made, that's a fun rabbit hole to go down. Merry Christmas.
Nope, that was one album that I didn't get the chance to listen to. Thanks for letting me know, I'll have to check it out. And Merry Christmas to you as well!
Have you heard of 'Songs of a lost world' by the Cure? The album got 'Universal acclaim' in Meta Critic. It's even Spin Magazine's album of the year. I am really looking forward to you starting reviewing The Cure's discography.
Yeah that was one album that I saw pop up on some lists but I chose to not listen to it because I might start doing some Cure videos here on the channel. I've heard a handful of their more well-known songs, but they're a band I've never really delved into so some album reactions might be really interesting!
My picks 10 Merrimack - Of Grace and Gravity 9 Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All 8 Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere 7 Konigreichssaal - Psalmen 'O' Delirium 6 Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus 5 Thy Catafalque - XII: A Gyönyörű Álmok Ezután Jönnek 4 Mitochondrion - Vitriseptome 3 Schammasch - The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean 2 Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God 1 Ingurgitating Oblivion - The Ontology of Nought
I didn't know Dead poets society (the band at least!) but the couple of songs from the intro sounded a lot like Royal Blood and Nothing but Thieves respectively.
Here is my list of Top 10 Albums of 2024 Rules for the List: No Live Albums, Cover Albums, Compilation Albums, Re-Releases or Ep's. It helps me Narrow Down my list of 41 albums I've listen to. Awesome list, you've got some on here that I definitely need to check out. I may have to do a reaction to the Opeth album at some point, can't wait to hear that one!
Balance and composure is so good. Like a modern psychedelic euphoric drifty foo fighters everlong, a nostogic adventure of youthful tragic sorrowful joy. My fav is the things we think we miss. Check out their song reflection. Keep iit up shadow fox lucy agent lady.

Im so happy to see balance & composure getting some love. I think they are very good band and deserves more appreciation. The things we think were missing is easily one of my favourite albums of all time
If you enjoy that type of alternative dance-pop like 'Brat' album by Charli XCX I hihgly rec'you albums from 2018 and 2021 by ukrainian electronic artist MARUV. By this token, do you know that BRAT word is translated from russian and ukrainian languages as BROTHER?
@@mollyesanborn Also, that - "Brat" (rus. "Брат") called one film by russian director Aleksei Balabanov. Your first associations with word "брат" if you were live in Ukraine or Russia is title of that film. This film is highly popular around all post-soviet area and its protagonist, in 21 century, became one of biggest russian neo-nazi icon! So, currently for ukrainians name of album "Brat" sounds bit different than in western world, and sounds not so fun...
To each their own, I will admit that their earlier music is a bit heavier and it took me a few listens for People Watching to grow on me but now it's on loop haha! Anyways thanks for checking out my list, and happy holidays :)
Honorable Mentions (because picking just ten albums is so dang hard):
- Coup de Grâce / SeeYouSpaceCowboy
- Imaginal Disk / Magdalena Bay
- Negative Spaces / Poppy
- Highly Irresponsible / Better Lovers
- I Write To You, My Darling Decay / A Wake In Providence
- A Piece Of Me I Never Let You Find - Cane Hill
Imaginal Disk is so good
@@mollyesanborn Thanks for Giving SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Cane Hill, and Poppy some love. I would have but I wanted to keep the mentions and the list pretty diverse this year. All three are Amazing Releases in the Core Scene this year :)
@mollyesanborn Hi Molly, have you discovered 'And So I Watch You From Afar' yet? They released their 7th album this year, Megafauna, and I reckon you might have to do some rearranging of your 2024 list after listening to it ;)
Their albums are packed full of intricate, joyful, emotion inducing music, I can't recommend the new record enough, it would make for a great reaction video as it will truly take you places and have you painting verbal landscapes to what you are hearing.
Hope you have a wonderful festive period and see you in the next year!
P.S. I'm off to Wales on the weekend, I'll say hello for you!
I think it’s time to review Queens of the Stone Age or Kyuss!! Rated R, Songs for the Deaf, and Era Vulgaris !!!
Really love seeing 156/Silence and Allt on this list!! They're both finally getting the recognition they deserve this year 🔥
YESSSSS two absolutely amazing bands! They both deserve to blow up, they're really bringing something so special to metal music.
Cool picks Molly! I'm a big Leprous fan and glad to see them get some more love. Their singer Einar Solberg did The Congregation live acoustic with just him and a piano and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't yet, that was a 2024 highlight for me!
Ooh thanks for letting me know! I'll have to check that out.
In random order:
- Isaac Roux: Troubled Waters
- Fontaines DC: Romance
- Sylvie Kreusch: Comic Trip
- Magdalena Bay: Imaginal Disc
- Sarah Kinsley: Escaper
- Ão: Ão mar (late 2023)
- Bolis Pupil: Letter to Yu
- Kacey Musgraves: Deeper Well
- Nilüfer Yanya: My Method Actor
- Bluai: Save It for Later
- Aili: Nandakke
- St. Vincent: All Born Screaming
Great list, thanks for sharing! The Magdalena Bay and St. Vincent albums were really great, they just didn't quite make my personal top 10.

Balance and Composure!!!!! So underrated ❤
Hi, I enjoyed your vlog. I always enjoy your reactions. I’ll be sharing this with my best friend as well. We won’t be meeting up till the New Year. When we meet up in the New Year, we will be rewatching this and your upcoming videos together. Merry Christmas Molly!
Thanks as always for watching! Hope you enjoy the video and happy holidays :)
"LustSickPuppy's" "Carousel from Hell my favorite album of 2024. A 19 minute album of amazing music.
Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't heard of that one. I'll have to give it a listen.
Thanks for the suggestions, these are all new albums to me so I'll have to check them out!
1. Magdalena bay
2. Knocked loose
3. Opeth
4. Blood Incantation
5. Unleash the archers
6. Charli xcx
7. Ankor
8. Nightwish
9. Wintersun
10. Billie Eilish
yes mary's music taste is a great channel I follow her too. Also nice to see poppy in the honorable mentions, negative spaces was great!
Awesome list, thanks for sharing! I intentionally didn't listen to the Opeth record because I might try and get to a reaction for it in the future. I really want to hear it though.
Nice to see some love for ankor
1. RevengeinKyoto, msliterate - Angelus Mortis
2. Origami Angel - Feeling Not Found
3. Parannoul - Sky Hundred
4. Poppy - Negative Spaces
5. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
6. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out
7. Strawberry Hospital - Nullmatrix(ep)
8. Wisp - Pandora(ep)
9. Delta Sleep - Blue Garden
Loved your list!
Excited to see you exploring more music in the new year!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video! I'm also looking forward to what 2025 will bring for music discoveries :)
Merry Crimble - have a great one :)
Definitely on board with the Chat Pile album - new Godflesh Remix lp is dank!
I can't even come up with a top 10 list, there's so many to go through and it's too hard to narrow it down.
Metz,Chat pile,Imperial Triumphant and the return of noise rock legends The Jesus Lizard were my personal 2024 favs.
Mi top 10 de 2024. Sin orden.
Emil bulls - love will fix it
Aphonnic - crema
Intervals - memory palace
My own private Alaska - all the lights on
Envy - eunoia
Paleneø - score
Poppy - negative spaces
Rob scallon - crowded rooms
Never easy - it never gets easier
Low pressure system - unknown caller
Thanks for sharing your list :)
Merry Christmas and here’s my top 10.
1. Alcest: Les Chants de l’Aurore
2. Magdalena Bay: Imaginal Disk
3. The Warning: Keep Me Fed
4. Kendrick Lamar: GNX
5. Griff: Vertigo
6. Jack White: No Name
7. Nada Surf: Moon Mirror
8. Ulcerate: Cutting the Throat of God
9. Lowen: Do Not Go to War With the Demons of Mazandaran
@@corsa180 I'll definitely have to give that version a listen!
Great top ten list! I'm definitely gonna check out these bands, especially Balance and Composure and Chelsea Wolfe.
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for checking out my list :)
Your brother sounds fun
Merry Christmas Molly. I loved the new Knocked Loose, 156/Silence, Chelsea Wolfe, and Chat Pile albums. I love Charli XCX so I definitely want to check Brat out. Here is my five favorite albums of the year:
5. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
4. Oranssi Pazuzu - Muuntautuja
3. Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
2. Job for a Cowboy - Moon Healer
Glad to hear you agree about Chat Pile, they are bringing such an interesting style to metal music.
I still need someone to put Zeal & Ardor's GREIF into their Top 10 lists. Leprous' album is amazing too, great ranking! Love how your musical taste has expanded through these years and have ALLT and Charlie XCX in the same list is incredible.
By the way, yeah, Dead Poet Society is an amazing band!!! Love what they did in this last album!
Glad you enjoyed my list! I didn't get a chance to hear the Zeal & Ardor album, I'll have to check it out.
my TOP 4 albums of 2024, One Assassination under god chapter 1- Marilyn Manson, Call the devil - Mushroomhead, Post Human Nex Gen - Bring me the horizon and From Zero - Linkin Park. am happy with all 4, listened to many times without getting tired of.
Thanks for sharing your favorites! The Marilyn Manson and Linkin Park releases I intentionally avoided listening to as I will probably do reactions to them eventually on the channel.
Merry Christmas Molly, thanks for a fun year of reactions i love seeing you discover cool albums from my teenage years✌️
Merry Christmas to you as well, I'm looking forward to a whole new year full of awesome music :)
If you haven't yet, i highly recommend checking out Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation. Think cosmic death metal with dreamy Pink Floyd-esque synths mixed in, there's more to it than that though. Great video!
Thanks for the suggestion, that was an album that I never got around to checking out so I'll have to give it a listen.
Dead Poet Society!!! Saw the album cover on your thumbnail, had to come and watch your whole list.
Heck yeah, they're awesome! I just discovered their music too so I look forward to diving more into their earlier releases.
@@ikku4321 good to know, thanks! And I'll have to give Tigercub a listen as well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Molly, hope you see continued success into the new year ✌️
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you as well and I look forward to seeing where the new year will lead.
Some interesting pick for me to look into. I didn't get a chance to listen to that new Chat Pile but I plan to.
In no particular order here are mine:
Then Comes Silence - Trickery
Melvins - Tarantula Heart
Spiter - Enter the Gates of Fucking Hell
Fearing - Destroyer
Ministry - Hopiumforthemasses
Tears for Fears - Everybody Loves a Happy Ending
Orville Peck - Stampede
Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
Marilyn Manson - One Assassination Under God
Paysage D'Hiver - Die Berge
Departure Chandelier - Satan, Solder of Fortune
NITE - Have Mercy EP
The Cure - Songs of a Dying World
Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus
My Dying Bride - A Mortal Binding
Vulture - Sentinels
Thanks for sharing your list! Definitely check out the new Chat Pile album if you get the chance, it's great.
You are correct, I have not heard of any of those bands. I guess that means it's more music for me to discover! And Merry Christmas to you as well :)
My personal top 10:
1. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
2. Better Lovers - Highly Irresponsible
3. The Warning - Keep Me Fed
4. Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition
5. Poppy - Negative Spaces
6. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
7. Vended - Vended
8. Unto Others - Never, Neverland
9. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She
10. Chat Pile - Cool World
Honorable Mentions:
Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
Job For A Cowboy - Moon Healer
Joey Valence & Brae - No Hands
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
The Cure - Songs of a Lost World
Ihsahn - Ihsahn
Fantastic list, thanks for sharing your favorites. The Better Lovers and Poppy releases were certainly honorable mentions for me, they just missed being in my top 10. Vended was one I meant to listen to and completely forgot about, so thanks for reminding me I need to go check that one out!
I will have to check these out, I love finding new tunes.
Nice, hope you find some new favorites! Happy holidays :)
Wolfe released an EP titled Unbound last month. It features 4 acoustic versions of tracks from her latest album, plus a Spiritbox cover.
@@echosmyron1278 oh dang. I didn't know that. Thank you! I'm gonna go find it right now.
Give Grammy nominated by Islander a listen sometime. This album was my number one of the year and I feel like nobody talks about this album.
Love your videos!
Yeah that's a new one for me, I've never heard of Islander before. I'll have to check it out! And thanks for watching, Merry Christmas :)
Edit: oh man!! This album is brilliant. Getting some big Deftones vibes at points, which I always love. I think the opening track Witch is my favorite at the moment. I'll be giving this one some more listens for sure, thanks for suggesting Islander!
Hola Molly me encanta tu selección musical de 2024, ahora este es mi top:
10 We hate you please die - Chamber Songs
9 Cassandra jenkins - My Light, My Destroyer
8 The cure - Songs of a Lost World
7 Charli XCX- Brat

3 Calva Louise - Over The Threshold

1 Mj Lenderman - Manning Fireworks
Like Roses - Stuck EP (altamente recomendado)
Coilguns - Odd Love
Valley - Water The Flowers,
Pray For A Garden
Hamferð - Men Guðs hond er sterk

Happy Holidays, Molly Metal Queen....🤘👽🤘
Happy Holidays to you as well :)
Great picks Molly! I got inspired to make my own list :)
1. Mamaleek - Vida Blue: a dazzling combination of avant-garde jazz & metal that leans into the jazz side way more this time around. Very unique even for them, and one I had to physically pry myself from to keep every listen a proper one because it was so addictive. I’m a sucker for albums with a unique sonic palette & while this list is subject to change, this one STOLE me ❤
I can really hear Neige’s influences from Slowdive to The Chameleons on this one (both of those being great bands to pick)
@@mollyesanbornmerry Christmas Molly! 🎄
@@JKBarker101 Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
@@mollyesanbornfor a helping hand with the Melvins, because they have like 30+ albums. Here’s 5 specific releases that’d be great for reactions! :)
“Bullhead” (1991) - one of the most important albums in Sludge history combining Black Sabbath & Hardcore Punk together to create this heavy & twisted perfection.
The “Atlantic” albums Houdini, Stoner Witch & Stag. (93 - 96)
They got a 3 album deal courtesy of Kurt Cobain, as he was a big fan of them and hugely instrumental in Nirvana’s early years. Great production & experimentation.
Finally, “(A) Senile Animal” (2006) - first album they did with 2 drummers (probably the easiest one to get into)
Buzz (vocals/guitar) is also part of “Fantomas” featuring Mike Patton/Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) & Dave Lombardo (Slayer) - and they are insane…
@@JKBarker101 I appreciate the notes, thank you. I'll have to plan a Melvins reaction soon.
@@mollyesanborn oh hell yes!!!!!!! Molly’s been Knocked Loose!!!🤘🤘
@@TheRealEricMitchell 😂
Not sure if it was a bad year for music for me or music has been so forced into the background in my life. Just trying to think of ten albums off top of my head was full of stuff in the last few months. So had to flip through my vinyl box and hard drive.
in no particular order (well the first album probably my fave):
Julie Christmas - Ridiculous and Full of Blood
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - of the Last Human Being
Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
Full of Hell w/ Andrew Nolan - Scraping the Divine
Orange Goblin - Science, not Fiction
Melt Banana - 3+5
The Obsessed - Gilded Sorrow
Billie Eilish - Hit me Hard and Soft
Devin Townsend - PowerNerd
Lucifer - Lucifer V
A treat to see one of my favorite albums, that being YWGBYST on ur list!
Yep, Knocked Loose really knocked it outta the park with that one.
New Music to enjoy, thank you!!! ❤
Yay! Thanks for watching, hope you discover some new bands to check out :)
@@mollyesanborn Sure and I am still waiting to some great albums you have pending to enjoy, so there will be more amazing Molly in 2025 ♥️

Some albums I really enjoyed this year:
🍊 The Smile - Cutouts
🛩 Michael Kiwanuka - Small Changes
🍏 Charli XCX - Brat
💧 Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard & Soft
🌷 Liana Flores - Flower of the Soul
👀 The Smile - Wall of Eyes
🧮 Laura Marling - Patterns in Repeat
🪲 Crumb - AMAMA
🔥 Eefje de Visser - Heimwee
🎾 Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Challengers
Thanks for sharing your list! I still have not seen Challengers or given the soundtrack a listen, I need to get on that. Anything Reznor and Ross are involved with I usually end up loving.
Merry Christmas, Molly. Have a wonderful day with friends and family. I admittedly don’t keep up with new music much but my favourite album of 2024 is Jerry Cantrell’s I Want Blood. Very much in the style of Alice In Chains… which works for me! 😎👍🏼
Merry Christmas to you as well! I'll have to get to Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff soon, if it's in the style of AIC I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
You have an amazing taste my friend
Oh thanks! Glad you enjoyed the list, and happy holidays :)
Balance and Composure - with you in spirit
Buffalo Tom - Jump Rope
Remi Wolf - Big Ideas
The Chisel - What a F*cking Nightmare
Thanks, Molly!
Thanks for sharing your list!
Balance And Composure is one i gotta check out
It's a fantastic record, I really love the atmosphere on it. It's my introduction to the band as well so I'll have to check out more of Balance And Composure's discography.
Great picks this also gives me so much more music to listen to and discover. I’m a huge fan of Poppy and wonder if you like her music. Merry Christmas and have a very happy New Year
You can find Poppy in the description of the video 😊
Thanks for checking out my top ten, hope you discover some new favorites! I do enjoy Poppy quite a bit, her album from this year didn't quite make my top ten but it's a very good album. Loved her collab on Suffocate with Knocked Loose as well.
Merry Christmas Molly!
Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
Great Ranking! Can you listen to some more STP next? Purple first and then Tiny Music? 😊Merry Christmas!🎄
No one said it was “bad.” I said it’s amusing. Relax. 😂
I will definitely try and get to more Stone Temple Pilots here on the channel, I'll keep them in mind for next month. Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
@ that’s so nice of you! Thank you, and I hope that you have a nice time in between Christmas and new years!
Don't know if you checked it out, but Lives Outgrown by Beth Gibbons (Portishead vocalist) is a fantastic record that came out this year
No, I didn't get a chance to hear that one!
Merry Christmas MS!
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you as well!
Minor spoilers for that first Fear Factory album I mentioned before but hearing your albums of the year makes me think you might actually appreciate that album more than their follow-ups. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of most of the banda you listed but Concrete sounds more like these.
Good to know, yeah I'll definitely have to give it a listen and see what I'll think of it!
Dead Poet Society is so underrated. Their previous album is just as good.
Fission was my introduction to their music, I'm looking forward to hearing more from their discography!
Gonna start using clickity-clackity to describe that particular drum style now. We will make this a thing 😂
Let's make it an official musical term 😂
My top 5........ 5-The Cure, 4- Ekko Astral, 3- Sprints, 2- Kim Deal, and 1- Brigitte Calls Me Baby.
Thanks for sharing your favorites! :)

Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
If you love that new Balance and Composure record, youre going to love their album "The Things We Think We're Missing"
I will have to check it out, they're a new discovery for me so With You In Spirit is all I've heard so far. I'm excited to hear more from them.
Balance and composure?!?! Knew you were cool but damn! Such a dope return album
They're awesome! With You In Spirit is my introduction to their music so I'll definitely have to give the rest of their discography a listen now.
Check out Cane Hill too! Especially if you love Allt.
I've heard some of their music and actually saw them live earlier this year as well! A Piece Of Me I Never Let You Find was one of my honorable mentions for this year, a great album that just missed being in my top 10.
Leprous and Allt are on my top albums list :)
Great picks, both are incredible albums!
Everybody loves brat how can one not like it it's so fun, definitely my favourite of the year
Well said, it's such a fun album. I was a bit skeptical at first as to whether or not I'd like it and then ended up getting addicted to the album, such a great pop record!
I commented the same in the rocked video, but my top would be something like:
1. Alcest
2. Boundaries
3. Charli xcx
4. Vola
5. Cane hill
6. The marias
7. Caligula Horse
8. 156/Silence

Thanks for sharing your list! You've got some great picks on here.

molly , i'm a old man now and can never shuffle through all the new music. thanks for the list for me to check out. did you hear the new St Vincent album?
Thanks for checking out the video! I know, there are so many new releases and it's hard to keep up. I had to scramble myself to get this list done by the end of December. I did check out the St. Vincent album from this year and really enjoyed it, just didn't quite make the cut for my personal top 10 albums.
If you haven’t heard Bilmuri’s newest album “American Motor Sports” you definitely need too. It’s not as heavy as some of your choices but it’s extremely groovy and catchy all the way through
That is one album that I did not get a chance to check out, I'll have to listen to it.
@ I would love to hear your thoughts after you do!
so many good picks
Yeah 2024 had some great music! Narrowing it down to a top ten was very difficult this year.

I'm sure you've gotten some requests for fleshwater We're not here to be loved, if not it's great
I've actually heard that album and I've seen Fleshwater live as well! They're a fantastic band.

My ears always perk up when i hear Fontaines D.C

@@tim1843 I know I've heard the track I Love You off of that album, I'll have to give the entire thing a listen though 👍

Days Of The New is a new one for me, I'll make sure that they're on my list of bands to check out.
You didn't record your reaction to You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To? 😢😢

Im so happy to see balance & composure getting some love. I think they are very good band and deserves more appreciation. The things we think were missing is easily one of my favourite albums of all time
They're a new band for me, With You In Spirit is my introduction to their music so I'm looking forward to checking out more of their discography.
Thank you for the suggestion, I do really enjoy a lot of dance-pop so will definitely have to check out Maruv.
I feel so crazy, I feel like I should love that 156/silence album, but it does nothing for me.
Anyways, list is good!
To each their own, I will admit that their earlier music is a bit heavier and it took me a few listens for People Watching to grow on me but now it's on loop haha! Anyways thanks for checking out my list, and happy holidays :)
Curious what you’re opinion on Chromakopia by Tyler The Creator is, I’ve been obsessed with his music lately
That's an album I didn't have the chance to check out, I'll have to give it a listen!
