I love how effortless Tom makes the breakdown look. After a couple of months of practice, i still haven't gotten it down, and things are telling me that i might never.
I can't believe I'm sitting here trying to fathom how all that crazy ass guitar work with that singing/screaming at the same time is possible. That end was a quite a pleasant surprise though. Didn't expect it to come out of that weird loop.
i just love the ending....so awesome...cant believe there wasnt a mosh pit or anything coz like id have been soooooo boosted from him being that close =) x
it makes perfect sense... if his on stage volume is too loud and he won't turn down, it doesn't make sense if the FOH volume is loud too. maybe recording directly from the soundboard didn't make the best audio, but it was probably a good move for the people there listening live.
I can't wait to see them play this live on dec 4th at the glasshouse. got my tickets already and i hope i can get a copy of the new album. only 3000 copies are being released :(
the varied time signatures and math rock influence present a level of tightness and spontenaeity that cannot be replicated or even approximated by the deftones.
it looks like he wasnt mixing the sound with the intention that it would see an external release. The sound is mixed for the room its created in, and without actually standing in the room while the sound is playing, it's hard to judge how it would have sounded. I know for a fact that thom has is amp cranked to 11, which is why you can't here his guitar that clearly. So there is'nt much need to amplify TFOT live, rather than balance the sound out throughout the room.
as it seems everyone loves the end a whole bunch and i must agree the end makes its a really fucking sweet and really the only reason i saved it to one of my favs....i really want to see them live so fucking bad
Haha sorry I didn't even read what you were commenting on. I thought you were just saying that they called all their old songs Ghostship I - etc. and it seemed really weird. I'll try out the whole "contextualizing" thing next time I hear it works really well.
i think at the end, he says something like "will we fall or will we fall or will we fall". Thats all i could make out from the ending, my fav part of this live version is the finale ^_^ x
This one of the few live videos on youtube of TFoT where the vocals actually come out pretty decently. But in expense, the guitar's volume is cut in half.
Defining an awesome band can differ from person to person, but I think that it definitely doesn't mean...a band with a good guitarist.....it has much more to it. what do you think~?(please answer sincerely because i am taking this topic seriously....) Thank you! ^^
shotsxxx if you lookd at their music, you'd see that they play in very odd and difficult time signatures, and that to play what they play on their instruments would take a lot of talent. Along with that, they're lyrics are relevant and very interesting if you take the time to listen.
im not sure what kind it is, but i caught a glimpse when i talked to him after a show, and its worn down so bad that i cant tell, but it was most likely a crash ride or some sort
yeah i got it. but like in manipulator, specifically excreations, he does that one scream in the end right after the breakdown. i think its amazing. and yes. redsox. :]
i agree that the guitar should be a little louder coz yew cant hear it that much...even when the bass isnt playing which is a little annoying but still gotta love them. also his vocal skills are amazing. anyone who disagrees, please say it on an 'i hate the fall of troy website' not on this video which is purely there to promote the fall of troy on youtube =)
i agree! there are too many sub genres, but mathcore isnt made up, its actually just specific... i hate it when sumthings uneeededly given a new genre but there are alot of genres which are used so that people can find wat they like...
Ok lets get this stiraght it is Progressive experimental posthardcore music progressive because they dont strickly stay to one type of music they always play ALL different types Including pop punk. ( if you dont believe me watch an interview or go on the forums for once ) Experimental - Look at the pedals thom uses and the different types of sounds and effects he uses Post hardcore because of the clean singing aswell as the rougher vocals done by tim ( well frank now ) and thom
sounds like someone hasn't heard of prog before xD and, as a musician, i find that quite shocking. progressive is some of the most technical modern music we have. and i honestly love the blend of it with post hxc [like fot here] prog rock, imo, is the best rock. in just about all it's forms.
its a shame they won't play this anymore live. either frank doesn't know the ghostship songs well enough or thomas is fed up with people demanding these songs instead of their new work
@bigace511 on Thomas's twitter someone asked if hed ever play with them again and he said "Is that a serious question man? Cummon... I'd never do that to the other guys.''
?? They already had other songs when they came out with that EP... and those songs really are about a ghostship. It wasn't just some random "well since we don't have any idea what to call these songs that we've been putting our heart in souls into for months and months we'll just call it quits and name them something random like 'Ghostship 1-4'," Definitely not just "what all their songs were called previously."
sorry bout that youtube wouldnt let me type more. so as i was saying even though i forgot what i was about to type. no wait i got it. uhm: that kinda like the fun in it so to speak. i would be disappointed if they just covered their own songs in better quality. its good to hear change. ive heard franks other bands and heard him play guitar and bass and its interesting what sounds he and thomas create.
i think on Enter the Black Demon, they should've kept some screaming, and singing the ends like the "to staaaaay" and the entire "You owe me ... from you!"
I love how effortless Tom makes the breakdown look. After a couple of months of practice, i still haven't gotten it down, and things are telling me that i might never.
ghostship part 4 is possibly the most genius piece of music ever created
Thomas Erak: Master of the handsfree guitar
the fall of troy was amazing live.
i saw them with coheed.
sooo much energy.
I'm am a die hard Fall of Troy fan. I have got to say that that ending was the most epic finale ever. Can't wait to See them May 14th :D!
goddamn i love this band
This will always be my favorite video on UA-cam.
how the hell do you dream this song up?
Still Hear that dark masked voice that I thought I only dreamt about..
I can't believe I'm sitting here trying to fathom how all that crazy ass guitar work with that singing/screaming at the same time is possible.
That end was a quite a pleasant surprise though. Didn't expect it to come out of that weird loop.
best player/singer out today imo
At the final, the Suicide Silence moment!
The looping at the end was like SO COOL.
So much Volta worship, I fucking miss this band
i just love the ending....so awesome...cant believe there wasnt a mosh pit or anything coz like id have been soooooo boosted from him being that close =)
x
its really cool how he can change his voice to a shrill shriek to his normal voice - its awesome!
it makes perfect sense... if his on stage volume is too loud and he won't turn down, it doesn't make sense if the FOH volume is loud too. maybe recording directly from the soundboard didn't make the best audio, but it was probably a good move for the people there listening live.
Exactly. Thank you for not cursing.
I like how you can see his package just chillin right away
The Fall of Troy is really something incredible live.
These guys inspired me to start a band. Look out for "After All Attempts Fail" in a little whiles. RIP TFoT, you will be missed.
They are going on tour next month wdym
damn good song, great quality.. good job
They played this live when I saw them last Saturday, the ending was EPIC.
get one!
they're amazing
I can't wait to see them play this live on dec 4th at the glasshouse. got my tickets already and i hope i can get a copy of the new album. only 3000 copies are being released :(
this song should be the opening to like, naruto or zero no tsukaima
I saw them on this tour!!!! Like 2 days later
the varied time signatures and math rock influence present a level of tightness and spontenaeity that cannot be replicated or even approximated by the deftones.
Best TFOT era.
it looks like he wasnt mixing the sound with the intention that it would see an external release.
The sound is mixed for the room its created in, and without actually standing in the room while the sound is playing, it's hard to judge how it would have sounded.

I finally found this video! I knew I seen it before but I couldn't ever find it again. Definantly favoriting this
Andrew is my hero.
I mean the original recording was fast but holy shit they are flying through it.
A: hes not growling
B: theyre amazing live, i saw them in ATL last tuesday, twas intense
I told Thomas I almost came after he played a show. That's how good they are.
...
as it seems everyone loves the end a whole bunch and i must agree the end makes its a really fucking sweet and really the only reason i saved it to one of my favs....i really want to see them live so fucking bad

omg i was not expecting that in the end wow that was fucking amazing thank you thomas for being a god
the ending = fucking amazing. awesome use of a loopstation
The ending is friggin' sweet!
damn, i remember seeing them in this year (not tour). very impressive live.
2:59 Beautiful
i think at the end, he says something like "will we fall or will we fall or will we fall". Thats all i could make out from the ending, my fav part of this live version is the finale ^_^
x
That's one hell of an ending.
Amazing.
I agree. Parts 1 and 2 are definitely better though, imo. 4 and 5 are still bearable. Worth a buy. =)
Sounds about right, that is definently one way to get that sound. The only other explination would be a whammy, but a filter makes more sense.
Tom has a DL4 which does loops, but he also has a coupla Boss delays, but I dont know much about them.
You owe me your life for thinking that I could take this from ( squeeling string bend)!!!!!!!!
the finale part at the end is sooo killer!
i want them to put it on phantom on the horizon or their studio albums at the end of one of the songs =)
x
I'm gonna guess you've never heard them live
they're amazing, and the EQ is set just right.
videos don't do justice to how great they are live
the drummer has timing ill give u that but i actually find his playing to be to much and get in the way but their still sick
he held my hand at an extra breakdown at bamboozle in jersey.
:]
no homo.
:]
This one of the few live videos on youtube of TFoT where the vocals actually come out pretty decently. But in expense, the guitar's volume is cut in half.
the fall out troy es lo mejor
Thoose screams remaind me Mike Patton's on mostly every Fantomas album. Im gonna check this band.
Defining an awesome band can differ from person to person, but I think that it definitely doesn't mean...a band with a good guitarist.....it has much more to it. what do you think~?(please answer sincerely because i am taking this topic seriously....) Thank you! ^^
Lol! That was so nuts to see them all just standing around at the end! lmao
shotsxxx

the breakdown proves that thomas has absolutely amazing screams, they just get muddy when he’s also playing guitar
@Copyright32 Dude, I'm a huge fan of The Fall of Troy. i hope they resume their career as a great band someday...
hmm.
explain.
thats interesting.
i barely lissten to their lyrics.
im always hypnotized by their instrumentals.
i finally found out what the outro was.
its the ghostship five breakdown on phantoms.
I love that line 6 DL4 but I think ima go for the slightly cheaper DD-20.
yeah i got it.
but like in manipulator, specifically excreations, he does that one scream in the end right after the breakdown.
i think its amazing.
and yes.
redsox.
:]

yeah man awesome
I think Thomas specifically uses a Line 6 DL4 for his loops.
Ok lets get this stiraght it is Progressive experimental posthardcore music

yess he does.
Genius.
new york!! please!!

yes there is

amen!
What does Thomas says at the end (the part of Chapter V)?
I can hear "the walls bleed, the walls bleed lust".
Fuckin love this video
best ghost ship imo
added it for the show
I wishes I was there
it actually came out a long time ago befor doppeleganger actually this is the demo though
i like those snare ruffs that andrew does at the begging. does he do those in the recording?
he is sickly good at guitar
@bigace511 on Thomas's twitter someone asked if hed ever play with them again and he said "Is that a serious question man? Cummon... I'd never do that to the other guys.''
part 1 original was the best one IMO, part 2 and 3 newer are good too but the original 1 4 and 5 were the best ones i think.
?? They already had other songs when they came out with that EP... and those songs really are about a ghostship. i cant get enough of that random ass breakdown at the end.
i like early november..but how could you even compare the two? it's totally different styles of music.
awesome... wish the guitar was louder though...
now i miss THEM : (
@nlo13 i miss them all now :(
i completely agree, wut happened to him anyways?
sorry bout that youtube wouldnt let me type more. so as i was saying even though i forgot what i was about to type.
no wait i got it.
uhm:

what pedal does thomas use at 1:59 and it makes that cool pew sound. what is it?
I was there :)
he also has a 13 inch hats instead of the standard 14
Is there a studion version????????!!!!!!
