I was so sure that I wasn’t going to like this, but boy, was I mistaken. This is just so wonderful; it’s nuts. Well done, and thank you so much for uploading. Oh, your Elton John Your Song Piano Walkthrough back in January was a chord inversions lightbulb moment for me. I ripped the mp3 and listen to it often.
The original 1970s recording is insanely beautiful - for me, the perfect string arrangement by Paul Buckmaster and Elton's young voice in those days was pop perfection.
Some casual listeners of music think that artists just sit down and copy each other note to note and that's all music is. Like playing music is a mundane spreadsheet function. Even to the point where they would believe that the likes of Elton would be "insulted" by someone playing their own original improvisation or arrangement of their song. Looking at the facts. Elton John recently asked a whole bunch of his favorite modern artists to change and reimagine all of the tracks from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, additional to that, around 10 years ago he gave all of his 70s master tracks to the Australian electronic duo "Phnau" who completely remixed his tracks, mashing them together. Artists like Elton love creativity and reimaginings of his own songs. Whilst some people understandably get very attached emotionally to the original recording, because it represents a time in their life, the irony is - these songs would have never existed in the first place for you to enjoy had it not been for the creative process. We would have no Elton John's in the first place...

Never thought of playing it this way. That counter melody is heavenly. Thanks for sharing
I think Tom Donald is an outstanding musician, not only that, he is an expert at teaching. I wish I was able to afford a session with him at his LCSP.

Cocktail Elton 😎
You should duet with Elton. Now he's retired from touring you can but ask. That would be a beautiful video.
That would be a dream come true :))
It could come true. Be patient. 😊
Sounds better without Elton to be fair 🤭

This is an insult to the master, has simply nothing to do with HIS SONG!
