I’m 78 and miss my mom and pop I was born in USA and the youngest of 7 children. Parents born in Budapest Hungary and my father joined the Hungarian Army and after the war he came to USA and he used to talk about the revolution at times with tears as we were old enough to understand. I regret the fact that I could have
learned the language. But I’m grateful my parents picked up a lot of the english from us. With 7 children around
and a Catholic schooling, they had to learn themselves, at least each day.☺️🇭🇺🙏✝️🇺🇸🌍

my last name is szabo too, i live in australia. My father left budapest at 16yrs old and had been back a couple of times,he has passed now but i miss those dances.My father told me his mother was a pure gypsy also i would like to know more about that.Yes they were excellent dancers.

My Dad (Bela Kovacs) was born in US with a tight Hungarian family. I loved to watch him and my mom dance Cardas.I am sad that there isn't that culture here anymore. I am almost all Hungarian but not 100%. Now my Children are even less than me, nonetheless I tell them things about my Hungarian family. One time I admonished my son because he didn't use Paprika on something. I said 'What kind of Hungarian are you?"
Carol,it might take a bit more than just use paprika to be a Hun...:) no pun intended though...

I am second generation here in America. My Grandmother was born in Hungry she would yell at us grandchildren in Hungarian. Lol. Miss her immensely. She made some kick butt food, heaven was in her kitchen.
